This hike is an out-and-back trip approximately 7 miles round trip with about 1250 feet of elevation gain. The first mile and a half follows a well-worn trail through coastal scrub. The path is heavily travelled, especially on weekends. The next two miles follows a fire road. The terrain becomes moderately steep. A reasonably conditioned hiker can finish the entire hike in about 2-3 hours, depending on stops. Most of the higher elevations of the hike provide views of the pacific ocean or Century City and Downtown LA. The cooling breeze from the pacific makes this a refreshing hike.

Great trail, beautiful views of valley and canyon. Parking is not free and will run $10 for the entire day. Bring lots of water as there is very little shade. Also be aware of snakes in the area as you may run across a few.

For a short hike that is close to the city, this place was perfect! Very green, with wild flowers. I liked the smell of wild flowers at the top. Good view of Santa Monica and you can even see some part of Los Angeles downtown, and view of the beach too.

Stunning.Thrilling.Gorgeous.Invigorating.Captivating.Explosive.Heart-pounding.There are not enough words to describe the views seen from atop Parker Mesa Outlook. Its absolutely worth the hike regardless of which trail you take to get there and especially when the weather is stereotypically sunny with blue skies and perfect cotton candy-looking clouds above you.

The hike here is uphill 90% of the way. Its about 1500 ft of climbing according to my Garmin watch, but if you plan enough time out, I think its a doable hike for everyone.Give yourself 2 hours for the ascent if youre pacing slow. Theres a bathroom built close by near the top of the hike, as well as some trash cans.Is it worth it? Yes, this view is one of the most incredible in SoCal. Always appreciate the journey too!

You get to the spot with a gentle uphill hike from Los Leones Trail which leads to an excellent view of LA and Malibu. The spot has park bench seating and an outhouse nearby. Great place to spend an afternoon.

You get it all here! A beautiful view of LA, the Santa Monica Ferris wheel, etc. AND the ocean. Breath taking! TIPS— there’s many ways to get here (Topanga canyon, Miranda paseo), HOWEVER if you want a challenge, I highly recommend starting at los Leones trailhead and going clockwise, to the left, taking the path on the other side of the cement drainage area when you first start. There’s some serious scrambles there! I’ve come down that way and I don’t recommend it! Instead go up to Parker Mesa, and then go down the main trail for los leones. Making a big loop. About 5 miles. Amazing views!!

Really nice workout at summertime. Starting from parking lot at Los Liones drive, hike via metal cross to Parker Mesa overlook and back over fire road to Paseo Miramar viewpoint.Or the other way round. Will take you about 2h.First you will have sinking sun, view over Santa monica, sunset and on way back city lights of LA.Recommendation to visit at sunset. Its really awesome. ️

The trail sarts not far from the Getty Villa and I would recommend visiting both places on the same day. The trail will certainly take some time to climb, but the vista view is rewarding - certainly worth it! Barely any trees around here so dont forget to take a hat on a sunny day!

Its a very difficult hike in the sun. But maybe early morning or late afternoon would be better. I wish I couldve stayed for the sunset but I think that would be a little dangerous to come down in the dark. We hiked from the Los liones canyon entrance. After a 1.1~1.3 hike up, you make a sharp left (almost a U turn) to continue on the Paseo Miramar trail to get to the Parker Mesa Overlook. The view from here is pretty much the same as from the end of the Los Liones trail, though. For us it was still worth it bc we dont get a view like this from where were from. To and from total 7.0 miles says my fitbit.

The Paseo Miramar portion of the trail is wide, with decent footing, so groups are OK. No dogs are supposed to be on the trail, but that doesnt stop Mr. Entitled from bringing his dog. I used to see deer occasionally, but the dogs and encroaching development has sent them away. The view at the Parker Overlook can be spectacular, particularly in the winter just after a rain.

This is my favorite hike in Los Angeles! Starting from the Los Liones trailhead, it is a 7-mile roundtrip moderate-intensity hike on a well-maintained fire trail with 1100 feet of incline. Beautiful views at the top at the Parker Mesa Overlook as well as at the first outlook point (about 1 mile into the hike). Be aware that there is a 1 to 1.5 mile hike that is pretty much a straight incline. Bring water and wear sunscreen, as there is little shade on most of the trail. Great for large groups, great for solo-hikers, and great all-year-round!

A beautiful fall or springtime walk from Trippet Ranch in Topanga Park. A little over 6 miles round trip, the trail is in sun most of the way, so bring plenty of water. The trail climbs and descends several times along the way, and you will get a good workout by the time you get back to the start. There are two benches from which to enjoy the views when you arrive at the overlook. In clear weather you can see from Downtown to Palos Verdes and on to Catalina Island, with a commanding view of Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica and Venice. With binoculars or a telephoto lens on a camera, you can see LAX as well. Well worth making the effort to get there!

Friend and I started 2015 on a strong note by handling this beautiful 7 mile round trip trail at Topanga State Park.We parked near the entrance of Los Liones Canyon on Sunset and PCH.Right after the entrance gate there will be a couple of public restrooms. Use it beforehand! The trail is strenuous with very little shade. Theres lots of uphill parts.Bring water. Wear sunscreen.Once you get to the top its quite rewarding. Views of Malibu, pacific coast and even DTLA is breathtaking! We stayed til sunset and it was absolutely beautiful! The skies had gorgeous shades of pink, purple, blue, orange, and red.I will definitely be back on this trail soon.
