My husband and I love the outdoors, and Im a huge history buff. Marble Springs seemed like a great place for an easy, outdoor day trip. John, the ranger on site that day, told us all about the history of the site and colonial America. Cinnamon, the resident cat, was incredibly friendly and hung out with us while John regaled us with stories! The site is beautiful and peaceful, and I highly recommend checking out the arboretum. We had a great time despite the 90° weather!

We really enjoyed this place. The gentleman we talked with was John. He was very informative. The houses were neat and walking the grounds was so much fun.

The homestead is so well preserved with most of the materials all being original. It was fun to see the volunteers dresses in period clothes as they explained the history of each structure. You can even walk down some trails to the creek. They even offer some classes such as musket firing. This is a must see for any history buff in East Tennessee.

Neat part of local history in Knoxville Tennessee. John Sevier (1745-1815), early pioneer, governor of the failed State of Franklin, and first governor of Tennessee, built a plantation home, which he called Marble Springs, when he came to the state capital, Knoxville, in 1796. He and his wife, Bonny Kate, lived at Marble Springs at times until his death. Jeff Mullins Photography Adventures. Happy Hiking!

I traveled a long way to visit the homestead because John Sevier is a distant grandfather of mine . Everything was locked up so I asked an employee if we could go in the gift shop because I wanted to buy a tshirt. The only shirt I could find in the size i wanted was on the manican and when i asked the man if i could take it off the manican to buy it he said No. The homestead was well preserved and was very glad i got to see it after many years of wanting to but they need more friendly staff.

The history is interesting. Employees need to play to their audience. Was on a field trip with a 2nd grade class and staff continuously used vocabulary that was absolutely over the age range level. One staff member was very rude to the children going as far as to threaten to step on a child of they didnt move. The staff member is the one who told the children where to sit. I really wanted to love this place with period costumes and artifacts, but I wouldnt take my kids back.

Nice historical site commemorating one of the key early figures in Tennessee history. The best elements are the collection of log buildings on site. The $5 is well worth it for the guided tour - this gets you into the buildings. The big disappointment is the lack of interpretation in terms of signage and objects.

My husband and I visited Marble Springs yesterday as out of state visitors and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared the history of what settlers of the time experienced. Being quite close to Knoxville, Marble Springs is a gem for the area.

We were greeted by very nice gentleman. I enjoy the conversation and learn a lot about gov.Savier. They need more funding to make this park a family friendly place where people can appreciate local history. Civil war enactments would be nice.

We went on a school field trip. It would be very interesting to anyone over the age of 12. Some of the discussions on women being washed up after the age 13 back in the 1800s to a bunch of 6/7 year olds was a bit much! I think if they played to the audience better our trip would have been a lot better. The discussion on the civil war too was a bit much for the age group as well.

My family and I had a wonderful time at this park. We visited during the John Sevier Days event on September 19, 2015 and the re-enacters there were amazing. Not only were they knowledgeable, but they were compassionate as well. My mother suddenly felt unwell. We sat at the table in the Tavern and the young lady there was so very helpful and compassionate. We just cant thank her enough! We were allowed to sit at the table, even during one of their more private (ish) lectures until my mother recovered. That lecture on the history of Governor John Sevier was fascinating, by the way!
