Beautiful place to camp, fish, beach and just enjoy. Natural environment, they are doing some construction to the roads that have washed out. They have upgraded camp sites with electricity outlets and have added more camp sites on the inlet side. We love this place. You must bring your own food and there are bathrooms on site.

Surfing beach. Beautiful. Not really a family beach because surfers sometimes accidentally can interfere with swimmers due to lack of visibility when surfing. There is however, a wonderful bay area that is great for kids. Picnicking & camping available, but there is absolutely no shade or privacy for camping.

The winter weather is amazing in Florida to visit this campsite. The showers and bathroom are cleaned daily by staff. There is electric hookups and water available. Most sites have fire ring and a picnic table. Some sites are two feet away from the beach. I booked my site two weekends away to reserve a beach site site. I was able to see the Blue Angels and Navy ships across to Mayport from my campsite.

The campground: You cannot sleep in your car.My wife and I decided to cut a long drive in half by stopping here and staying the night. We have a large SUV that can fit an air mattress in the back. We were going to arrive late in the night and leave really early so we did not want to set up a tent. Well this was a problem for the campground. No where on the website when we reserved our site in advance does it say you can’t sleep in your vehicle. When we arrived late that night the security asked if we had a tent. We said no we’re sleeping in our car and they informed us that we cannot do that. We then proceed to ask for grace as we were 5 hours from home and nothing was open at this time. They continued to deny us and told us we could go sleep in the 24 hour boat ramp parking lot down the road. They asked us to leave and informed us we would not get a refund. This was such a horrible experience, I cannot believe this is a rule. The good: the beach is beautiful!

Well maintained drive on beach. They give you fair warning if it is driveable or not even with 4WD. They keep the path packed as best they can, we had zero issue with this last visit. Definitely our go to beach since 2016! So 4 years of fun in Jax. There is plenty of room for everyone to space out and the life guards are super responsive and attentive, always a police presence as well to keep everyone safe!

Awesome place to drive out on the beach and tailgate out of your truck. Beach is amazing with sand bars, shallow calm spots for little kids, waves for bigger kids, and we found a bunch of sand dollars! Make sure you have a 4X4 do get out to the beach and know how to drive through soft sand. We passed people stuck every time on the way in and out.

Ive been coming here my whole life. Lets just say many (many) years... I love that you can drive on the beach. Usually they keep the flats watered down so regular vehicles can drive across without getting stuck and reach the beach. They are also currently fixing the road access that a hurricane damaged. Theyve increased the cost of entry from fifty cents a person to five dollars a car (Im assuming because of the repair and upkeep costs)

I truly enjoyed my night of camping at this beautiful park near Jacksonville. Nikki was a pleasure to deal with and helped me pick out the perfect campsite. Even though they were under construction and making improvements, the noise and disruption was kept to a minimum. Walking out onto the spit at dawn I found tons of great opportunities to photograph the nesting birds. Thanks for an awesome experience!

Started to go there since 2015 , it was my favorite beach in America before all these pandemic situation. I miss the time when only few people know about this place, now, it is very crowded and congested.Only 4by4 vehicles are allowed to enter the main beach . We have SUV but didnt allowed us to enter, we had to walk 1000 miles(not really, but felt like it) on the hot, deep dunes. The shore used to be clean and clear but now, it was just a dream .Planning to wait a few years to go back when they allow to enter all wheels drives .

So it was my first time ever camping here we had a wonderful day and early evening, however when we went to sleep well attempt actually. However about every 25 minutes a very low extremely loud helicopter would fly over. We called the office and they said yes and it would continue until morning. Needless to say we went ahead and packed up our stuff and left it was physically impossible to sleep. I so wish this wasnt our experience.

Tried to go surfing here two days ago and almost got stuck at the pass-through. Was told afterwards that the equipment driver that normally packs the road was sick; and so the sand was impossible to drive through for any normal vehicle. My friends and family count on the road being groomed and pay quite a premium for that service, as an entrance fee. They have not answered the phone for the last two days and so cannot be reached to determine if this has been resolved.

We just returned from a 4 day camping trip here. We LOVED it! We camped in our little 22 Toyota Winnebago. They now have electricity at every campsite. We were lucky enough to have glorious cool days and didnt need our AC. We did turn on a little ceramic heater as it did dip into the low 50s once. So nice to have electricity. No neighbors with noisy generators! Day and night you can watch the marine traffic pass right in front of you. We were in campsite G, right on the St. Johns River. The campsite map online makes the spots look small, but ours was more spacious that how it looked on the map. We had our own little strip of beach for swimming or fishing. Right on our little strip of beach, there were some concrete pilings leftover from something that was likely destroyed in a storm. Not a problem for us though. Lots of our camp neighbors stayed up late into the night, fishing off their respective strips of beach. We watched sea turtles, porpoises, helicopters, airplanes, cruise ships and freighters. Lots to look at. Clean bath houses. Dump station and potable water available near the bath houses. Next time well bring our bikes as everything is kind of spread out. We live in St. Augustine and were looking for a nearby place to get away. What a great find this place is!I suspect its pretty mosquito-y in warmer weather. We also saw some no-see-ums. We lucked out though with cool breezy weather that mozzies dont like much. Also, watch out for sand spurs!

Camp sites have electricity, which is a huge bonus, especially in Florida in the summer time. Hurricanes have changed the geography from what it used to be but they have worked around that very well. Restroom and shower facilities arent the cleanest but Ive seen far worse. Bring plenty of citronella candles and bug spray for the mosquitos and sand gnats. The only real complaint I have is that the website does not work well on mobile devices and the staff claim the grounds are full when there are 20 or so open spots. Several numbered sites and all but 4 of the lettered sites.

You can actually drive on the beach, which you used to be able to do on Jacksonville Beach.

Good place to go if you dont feel like hauling a bunch of gear down to the beach. Just park your car and setup right next to it on the beach. Really cool beach to visit if you are in the area. Lots of beach front to park on and shore to walk along. Protected wildlife/habitat area on one side, good for viewing local waterfowl, but early or later times. The Jetty is where you can find crabs, starfish, hermit crabs, conch, and lots of other sea life. During low tide there are pools along the Jetty that little ones can swim in. At the southeast corner of the park/beach you can see the U.S. Navy base.
