Sure was a great ride. I felt this touched everything you want in biking and the perfect amount. I feel that all levels of riders would love this trail.
We hiked this CCW which took us 3.5 hours including a short break on April 30, 2020. If I was riding this Id likely go CW.Claret Cup cactus, Penstemon, and Paintbrush are blossoming. Theres another bush blossoming a light yellow flower that has a nice strong odor. A Gopher snake slithered across the trail.Great views right into Zion and the Virgin River valley below.
Go left from parking lot not at key house. Clock wise. It was hot but fun.
Ok it a dirt parking/camping lot with zero services. Very dusty and hot But! Some of the nicest mountian biking in the Hurricane area. The trails are very new and flowing. Blue trails with a few areas that will test your abilities. Saw families with younger riders on the trail and the kids were having fun. Always remember to ride like you want to ride tomorrow. Be safe!
Fun and doable for most intermediate riders.
Fun xc trail good for beginners.. the road to get in is tougher then the trail haha
Stunning view of the canyon and a great place to see the moon rise
Awesome ride pretty bumpy but super scenic
First time mountain biking hereCan’t wait to come back for more! So wonderful
Amazing! Great ride with views!
Really nice trail for biking or hiking. Great views! Looks like there are camp spots, too.
Nice trail. About 7 miles in a loop. Some technical and a lot of follow.
Wanted to keep going, but to slippery because of recent rain. Great views and would be great place to camp next summer.
Counterclockwise is my favorite way to ride this. Of you get a flat pull up the map on gps and theres an access road that leads back to the parking lot
Amazing views and well marked paths. Great for a bike ride or hike. The path can be narrow so you need to pay attention to on coming bike traffic.
The drive isnt for the faint of heart, but the 8+ mile trail is well worth the effort. Bikes and hikers share the trail equally and folks are friendly. The views are amazing!
Love this for mountain biking!
Great scenic ride!
Terrific trail, a little of everything, breathtaking views, good for beginners but has a little something for everyone.
Just make sure ya have good clearance on your vehicles
Excellent mountain biking trail. Lots of intermediate stuff but not bad for any level. Amazing views!!
Awesome trail
Great trail. Not as technical as Gooseberry or Little Creek, but more flow and fun for the kids. Enough tech and fun lines for the more advanced riders too.
February 2020 update: The offshoot road in from the main road can still be a bit rough getting in to this trailhead for lower clearance vehicles, but they have increased parking significantly as well as added fencing around the area to better define the parking. Still no toilet here, but it is an improvement. Adding a star and a half (rounded to four stars, since google does not do half stars) to my original 2 star rating for the improvement.A little rough getting off the Smithsonian butte road. No facilities.
Good short loop with a couple of techy bits.
One of the most overlooked trails in St. George. We live here, and this is one of our favorite trails. Make sure you ride it clockwise. It provides the most fun. Be sure to check out Gooseberry Mesa and Guacomole while you are here. If you are a visitor, make sure you ride Snakepit and Zen. This will ensure an awesome all encompassing St. George excursion. If you ride wire Mesa or Gooseberry Mesa be sure to finish your trek at Oscars in Springdale. No mountain bike ride can be complete without their amazing offering of huge portion mexican dishes. We recommend the murder burger and the Chile Verde Tamales with pulled pork. My wife loves the fish tacos. Dont expect to be in and out quickly, the outside seating is a must, enjoy the beautiful views of Zion and the ambience of a local staple. The food is worth the wait. Hope you enjoy your short stay in Gods country.
Not much of a trailhead as of right now but that will be changing. The BLM is adding a pit toilet and fencing. The trail is 7.3 miles and is fun either direction. I prefer it CW.
Great little mountain bike trail with stunningly beautiful views of Zion, Needles, and MT Kinesava. Also, if you to be a rock hound the area is littered with colorful agatised petrified wood.
Great 7 mile ride to finish the day after Gooseberry Mesa
Great ride!
Great area, Fantastic Views. If you are staying overnight, do follow the direction given on the Notice posted on the road. Park and camp at least half a mile off the main Smithsonian Butte Road.
No thing special about the trail head, but the trail? Now thats something special.
Great trail, though occasionally challenging on a tandem.
Awesome trail and camping
Super flowy, a little technical spots, but great ride
This ride was quite a bit different than others (Gooseberry, Guacamole) I rode in the last couple of days - enjoyed the change, as this one rolls better / faster. All have great views off of the mesas, and this trail is no exception. The trailhead itself is relatively easy to find, well marked out at the access rode - just a longer drive to get there! Shouldnt come as a surprise to anyone headed this way, though. Easier to come from the south/west, rather than from the north/east. The road in from Rockville is a lot rougher / slower, powder dry and, they say inaccessible if wet. Id believe it...
Beautiful sites along the trail. There are a few rocky sections.
Great ride and not too technical! The views are spectacular!
Primitive, no water or restrooms, plenty of parking.
Awesome trail with unmatched views
Fun mellow trail with great views of Zion NP.
Great trail, easy but fun with great views.
Great trail, took the kids and had a blast!
Road in can be spicy if it has rained.
Great MTB trail.
Excellent MTB trail, easy, breathtaking view
New trails in the blue/ green technical nature.
