This place is good because I like it. It has things that I like and I like things that I do like. All the time too.

An awesome spot for some low intensity hiking. I had some good up and down scrambling but mostly it is flat, easily navigated terrain. There are multiple connecting trails if you are looking for some longer distance trekking.

Great trails! Short trail is a good hike. Long trail will definitely work you if you want to feel like you had a work out.

Amazing place for hiking. The view at the top is amazing. The hike is amazing too. There are tough climbs and many boulders and great locations for pictures. Plenty of parking on sides and its safe.

The Ell Pond and Long Pond area is different from all other hiking areas in RI. The trails feature rock scrambles and abundant mountain laurel and rhododendrons.

Great rocky hike for the family. Not the best hike for small children.

Ell Pond is regarded as one of the most beautiful hikes in RI. A part of Moonrise Kingdom was even filmed here. Starting from the trailhead on Old Rockville road, the mile long trail to Ell Pond is absolutely beautiful. Its rocky and difficult but worth the effort. Dogs shouldnt go here, its too slippery and dangerous for them. Once you get up to the area between Long and Ell ponds, you can continue a trail all the way around Long Pond or do some side trails that provide great views. You cant get down to Ell pond, and you shouldnt because its sensitive wildlife habitat. Ken Weber in his book Weekend Walks in Rhode Island has a great route recommendation here.
