Fairways were fine. Bunkers were in the process of being redone. Bar and pro shop service was fantastic.

Rudest customer service that Ive dealt with for years. The golf course is fine but the staff is awful. If youre considering this place, just go somewhere else.

Greens were rolling great! Fun course to play. We played Galleon and Clipper. Should have played the other 9, Brigantine, to experience all 3 of the course layouts.

What cow pasture

My wife and I were very excited to play here. It could not have been a worse experience.The fairways were burnt and had massive dead spots. The greens were so sandy you could not putt. A 10 putt required literally slamming the ball. There were no beverage carts until almost the end of the course. The beverage machines were all sold out.It was $20 course at best and Im not exaggerating at all. The group in front of us and behind said the same thing.Complete waste of money. For $100 per you should have a decent golf course.Im not one to leave negative reviews but this was bad.

I has an easy check-in and got an early tee off. There were a couple of greens in repair but well marked. The sand traps were inconsistent on the amount of sand in them. Everybody was friendly to us and very helpful and safe.

Great service. Course was in good shape. Wonderful day, two days in a row.The two nines that we played both days were certainly challenging enough but fair when you strike the ball well.

We have played Shipyard the last two years while at Hilton Head for vacation, and each time has been a poor experience. We just finished a round and the course was in terrible condition with the greens not taken care of and the sand traps not kept up with. But more than anything, the front desk staff was beyond unfriendly. Travis (I believe that was his name) was condescending to our party and was uninterested in helping anyone in the clubhouse. Safe to say, we will not be coming back to play Shipyard on our next trip.

Fun course, lots of water and traps but fair for the average golfer

I wouldve given this course a one star review but I was fortunate enough to use the golf now website and (only) pay 53 bucks. They were charging around 75 for a 130p tee time so we booked that with the discount but Im not sure how people are paying that full price to play there. Tee boxes and fairways are completely burnt and the greens are decent but roll about a 7 or 8 on the stimpmeter. We also had different speeds on greens for each side. Play was also extremely slow and no rangers on the course to monitor play. If you have to pay their overpriced rates and dont have MASSIVE discounts dont waste your time.

Re: driving range - Positive + friendly staff. Unfortunately the driving Range was unkempt and poorly marked. Ball picker was broken so they would only allow us to purchase small bucket. Waste of our time.

Great course/experience overall. Greens in great shape. Fairly open layout made the round fun. Staff was very friendly and accommodating! We will definitely be back next time in Hilton Head! A few gators and great wildlife too!!

The course was in great shape. It’s relatively short, I wasn’t able to drive too many of the holes and instead elected to lay up to the corners of the dog legs.My 2*s come from the passive aggressive marshals continuously driving past our group. We were told we were playing slower than pace. I was the better golfer in our group, but my dad recently had two knee replacements and his friend had two hips And a knee replaced. We let anyone play through who was willing to, but apparently not enough. The marshals need to dial it back, they ruined our experience.

My name is Mike. Unless you have 6 hours, avoid this place like the plague. Took an hour and 20 minutes to play 2 holes on a beautiful Sunday afternoon . No rangers, guy in pro shop could not care less. If you have any desire to play a nice round of golf without being in a Jenny Craig commercial, or a quilting party, find someplace else. Many owners playing on course, oblivious to time.Don’t do it!!!

Course was not in very good shape

We had an awesome vacation at Hilton Head Island South Carolina. My Sister Karen & Brother in Law Jim were so accommodating to us. We had a beautiful time there with great weather too. Also celebrated my sister Karen birthday.

This was the first time I we had been to this course, and also the first time I had the opportunity to take my 6 year old son to go golfing with me. Unfortunately, while the course itself was decent, the staff made you feel like you were trying to break rules and/or going to do something you shouldnt. For example, we were told that my son, once again 6 years old, should not be driving the cart. After stating this was obvious, the staff member, turned and said condescendingly well you say that, but then hell be driving in here behind the wheel. Next, while we were on our last hole, or the 9th we had a staffer drive up to us and say last hole right? Nothing else. As if they felt like we would just keep playing, and see how much we could get away with before they caught us. It was very disrespectful, in the way they made us feel, almost like we were trying to steal or get away with something. Finally on the way back to the club house after the 9th hole, there wasnt a clear direction for us to go to return the carts, or if there was, we didnt clear see it, which is possible. Therefore, we decided to drivr up and find a staff member, and rather than being helpful were just told we dont allow carts out there and you need to bring them over here. Once again, Im not about negativity, and normally do not comment on such things, but this was the first time I had ever been to this location and they acted like we should have known how to do everything, and making you feel less adequate for not doing exactly what they think you should be doing.

Read the reviews about the staff and they must have improved drastically. I had a very pleasant experience with the staff. Wanted to rate higher than 3, but couldnt quite go a 4. Courses were good and well maintained. My main complaint is that I did not like the course design, there were too many water hazards for me and my wife. We are only moderate golfers so we lost many, many balls. Other than that, there was an old feeling to the place and it did not feel up to date. It had an 80s feeling. Prices were pretty good for a resort golf course.

My husband, grandson and I, from Pennsylvania, played at The Shipyard two days while vacationing at Sea Pines, Hilton Head Island. Our grandson didnt have his clubs with him because of flying, but the cart staff gave us a set of junior clubs to use. They were very sociable to Maddox as they wished him a good round. The course was in excellent condition and the staff was most cordial. Thank you!

Nice design and course but definitely lower end golf comparable to a municipal golf course in the Midwest. If you can get a cheap deal it is ok but not worth higher price tag. Range is limited and not very extensive with conditions less than desired. Staff was nice.

Sounds great from what Beth had to say. Whoever the Marshall was he has my vote of confidence.

Terrible experience. VERY rude Marshall kept after us when we were playing with a nice woman who had just had 2 knee replacements and has macular degeneration. We will NEVER play golf there again. It was shameful. Why dont these courses with 27 holes designate one 9 for slower players so everyone can enjoy themselves. Let the fast players play on the other 18. Oh, I know ... Its all about the $$

Great time!

Course in good shape and everyone from check-in to starter to cart girl to clubhouse was super nice and friendly. We played the day after Thanksgiving and had a great time. Will do it again next year.

Ive been coming to Hilton head for years and have played a lot of courses in the area. We played shipyard the last two days and both times were a disappointment! Of all the courses in Hilton head to play this would be the last resort!! The course wasnt bad but the personnel was very pushy and undesirable to be around. The P should be changed to a T

Course is in good shape. Just wish I would have played better but that is not the fault of the course.

We played it because it was close to where we are staying. We were started late because they were backed up, and it took 3 hours to play 9 holes because it was so backed up. We had a wedding rehearsal to go to and knew we wouldnt get 18 in at the pace we were going, so we got a rain check for 9 holes. We came back a few days later to play 9 holes with our rain check. We were charged $17.48 each to use our rainchecks for 9 holes. Both rounds were played on weekdays around the same time of day, so the rates shouldve been the same, and we assumed that our rain check would cover it. Kyle McManus was very rude while checking us in, and could not very well explain why we were charged that much extra. He just kept repeating its going to cost $17.48 and was unwilling to work with us or adequately explain the situation. The starter was also pretty rude. Based on quality of service, I would rate it 1 star. The course was OK, but there were grass clippings covering all of the fairways. It is not worth the green fees. We also got yelled obscenities at by a guy living on the course who said the course was dumping branches in his yard. It looked like he was standing inside the white stakes, so Im not sure if his claims were valid. Either way it was not a good experience. We had much better experiences at other courses. With all of the other options around the island, I recommend not playing Shipyard.

We played here over Labor Day weekend. The guy taking our bags was rude, and the starter was worse. They made us feel like we were intruding!The course was wet from a hard rain the night before, but still in very good condition. The greens were in very good shape, but were extremely slow.

Course is ok. Greens are weird. They are spongy but they are fine. Some staff seemed cool, most seem to hope you would die right on the spot. Hourly people are bothered that they have to do work.But this issue of jerks working at fold courses in HH, seems to be a chronic issue.

The golf courses are maintained fairly well but the staff can be very rude. When I most recently played there was a man in a loud maintenance vehicle behind me while I was teeing off and the motor was very distracting. He followed my family for 3 holes before finally passing us. It really ruined those holes for us.

Good course but the staff is not the friendliest group of people Ive ever met.
