I love this place. I’m a female and I always feel very safe hiking here. There are several different trails that are well maintained. The trails offer enough up and down to make it a challenge.

Well maintained and clearly marked trails for all skill levels (easy to moderate). To get the mountain top views though, does require going up (using either the blue trail or the orange trail). Ive hiked this area a few times and Id recommend going clockwise, red to blue up to the viewing deck, then orange down, then catch the red trail back to the parking lot.

This hike was great. The trail is kept in very good condition. A good starter hike for beginner to intermediate hikers. You can get 5-6 miles out of it if you plan it right. The staff (Tim) is awesome. Full of information and extremely helpful. Facilities are very well maintained.

Right in Catawba County its a small little park but still beautiful! Some pretty good hills but very doable for any age or body type. Thank you for keeping this park so clean!

The trails are very well maintained and well marked. I enjoyed the challenge of getting to the summit. Also plenty of well placed benches along the trails for out-of-shape people (like me!).

Peaceful, never too crowded, great walks through the beautiful trees, benches along the paths. Picnic areas are nice. Great idea that they have more than one difficulty level for hikers.

This was our first hike since we started quarantining. I was nervous to go out, but we love hiking and figured being outside was less risky than other things you might do.We werent paying attention and got here at 7:30am to try to beat the crowds. The park doesnt open until 9, so we had an hour and a half to kill.Right at 9, several cars showed up. We hiked for 2 hours. We zig zagged across the trails. We did all of the red, yellow, and orange trails and most of the blue trail. It was probably a little over 4 miles. The trails are mostly just walking through the woods. The mountain overlook is the only real view (off of the blue trail). Its mostly moderate with some steeper sections to get to the mountain top.For the first hour we were hiking, we only saw one other person. During the second hour, we passed 10-15 groups which was more crowded than I wanted, but it wasnt terrible. Its only about an hour from Charlotte which is convenient. The views arent great, but its nice for a change of pace.

Lots of maps, benches, trash cans along the trail. Also there were plenty of picnic areas near the parking. Nice people, too. The maintenance guy asked us to come back and see us again sometime. The blue trail was tougher than we expected. Our 5 year old couldnt make it to the lookout.

This park is really nice, especially if you want a mountainous feel right outside of Hickory. Its very well maintained and the park staff is very friendly and helpful. None of the trails are very long individually but you can make as long as a loop as you would like by piecing them together. The view of the valley from the observation deck at the top is definitely worth the hike up.

Awesome place to hike if you want to get away real quick without a bunch of people around and live in west Catawba County or east Burke County. Picnic and hiking with plenty of woods to walk through. It is gated so you have to watch your timing on the trails. Very clean restrooms and courteous state park employees are the norm. Pet friendly as well! Enjoy!

Throughly enjoyed our time at Bakers Mountain Park. We went for a hike on Presidents Day, and felt like we almost had the place to ourselves. We spent a good 2 hours hiking the different trails and eventually made our way to the look out. It was a fun and somewhat challenging hike in certain areas. It was neat to see where the old cabin was and read about the history of it. The kids enjoyed learning about the different trees that were along the trails. The trails were easy to follow and well marked. The bathrooms were super clean and the park was well taken care of. Would definitely recommend that you take a hike here, and will definitely be back!

Great little hike for my children with a beautiful view from the observation deck. We only did the 1-1/2 mile trip to the deck and back due to having you g children but the entire hike is just over 3 miles if you choose that route. Lots of roots so be careful. The ranger was extremely nice and helpful too!

Perfect place for a decent, but doable hike that can take anywhere from a couple hours to the whole afternoon (your choice). There are also a couple great waterfall areas for kids along the way, with enough benches nestled throughout to take a little breather if needed. The view at the end is quite rewarding, too.

Severely underrated hike. Moderate difficulty, a good few trails to select and explore. Can do the whole mountain for a very strenuous but gorgeous day or take a pretty aggressive half mile straight to the best part.

Great workout and technical climbing, maybe not for the first timer or out of shape. I wish I could bomb that chunky Rock section all the way down on my mountain bike. Not like I going to harm the terrain. I mean its like a would class downhill track already made. You guys should cash in on that.

This is a beautiful park to take groups for exercise and educational walks with a ranger named John. The staff that work there are very nice and helpful. I had one unpleasant experience overhearing a rant by one of their former employees and the ranger there made me feel much better about the situation. There hours a a bit inconvenient by comparison to other parks but I highly recommend this park if you are in the Hickory area.
