I have been going to Bethel Park since the mid-1970s. Back then, the Army maintained the facility. Later, as Fort Monroe closed down, the facility was turned over to the Air Force. The facilities are maintained and clean. Public rest rooms are porta-johns and they are maintained. Fishing piers are open year round but boat rental is only available during the warmer seasons (I dont know the dates...). You only need the appropriate state fishing licenses. They have a playground for the kids and pavilions with BBQ and picnic table. Normally rental when boat rentals are available, otherwise, its first-come...
We camped here for over a week when we PCS’d into Langley and it was phenomenal. We came in with a 27 ft RV, a 12 ft cargo trailer, a F350 and a small SUV. They have a place to park the extra cargo trailer off our camp site and the rest all fit into one site. They have a park, lake access, volleyball court, paint ball, walking trails, it’s so nice!
My brother and I had a lovely time together.
Very quiet, nice park, sites are large, people were very friendly,
Nice park but to many spider webs and mosquitos. park needs maintanance
Ranked 13 out of 33 for fishable reservoirs. fishing here really and truly sucks. Great place to waste a day away and hold other events. But Im an angler so Im giving it a 2.
I took my dogs here everyday. The field is great for them! And we ended up staying in the campground and it was great! Free wifi hot showers and great people.
We had a bbq on 8/31/19. I must say the turnout was amazing. My husband and I arrived at 1pm (our area was cleaned by staff the day before) to set up the tables, grill, food, drinks, and to pay for the paddle boat rentals. Instead of renting for $5 per hour, we paid $20 for 7 hrs, and had the guests go in groups of 4. We were at pavilion #1 which had the volleyball net, they provided corn hole, whiffle ball, frisbees, hoola hoops for us. My sister in law and father in went fishing. The beautiful ducks can out to join us, they were very friendly ..The kids park and bathrooms were right across in walking distance, although we didnt have the electricity hook up we had water hook up. We rented a generator (for music) from home depot for $50 for the duration of the bbq.. Clean up was easy, they provided us with four 40-60 gallon garbage bags. Monday morning I went back to the office and they refunded me $30. If we were going to continue residing in VA I will continue having events here. Its worth the money. I reccomend this park to anyone who want to enjoy their bbq, party, baby shower, etc..
Used this location for a volunteer event -- BBQ/cookout. 4th year in a row. Great location. 2 grills. Covered seating/eating area. Can seat 50-80 people. Outlets. Water pump for fresh water. Plenty of area too bring chairs. Volleyball net nearby and grassy area for other games. Can check out horseshoes, footballs, etc from Rec Area. Reservation and deposit required.
So much fun! My first time doing paint ball. Staff are friendly, good times!
Come and stay at least 2-3 times a year. Very friendly place and clean. Fun area and great playground for kids attached.
Love bringing my children here. They can safely play, its clean, quiet, and they even have a nature walk we take together.
Had our family reunion. Was nice shelters they have electricity going to them. Bathrooms are decent. Back next year
Decent fishing sometimes, and youre generally left alone. Sorta overfished, so to really get into anything good, youve gotta hit the water in a boat, which they do rent at a very good price, and head out away from the pier. Good catfish, good carpet, good turtles, and alot of ducks.
The paintball battle field allows you to be strategic and have fun just were a vest or heavy jacket if you get hurt when hit lightly the paintballs do pack a little punch
The park was great and the shelter were well maintained. My only concern is the road going to the park is very bad and muddy with large pot holes after it rains. I would have thought that the military would have corrected this issue a long time ago but is getting worse.
Nice little park. Safe venue for the kiddos.
Went to the paintball place, nice people, friendly staff, love the place
The bridge is nice but the actual park looks like it is closed off and hard to get to. It hasnt been open for awhile now or it just looks blocked off. Theres not too much to see aside from that.
1st time here for class reunion cookout, very nice!
A nice little park. Fishing is OK with some nice bass. A good place for bird watching.
Relaxing park with shade for summer and open areas for fall and winter. Fun fishing with kids spot.
Beautiful, nice size! Hate the mosquitos and houseflys! Lol BRING BUG SPRAY!!!!!
Big Bethel Park has a lot of history. There are placards near the entrance that describe one of the fisrt conflicts in the Revolutionry war. There is a painball course in the back and a fishing pier. Fam-famp in the back.
Good fishing and it is a good place to take your children as well.
This is a nice park with a good playground area and picnic/grilling facilities. The volleyball area is a bit run down, but you can prop the net poles up to make it playable.
I will go back to do pedal boating! Peaceful and quiet activities looks fun!
Nice area with great space for an event
Great place to BBQ. Pavilions available by reservation. Boat rentals and fishing.

Bethel lake is family fun, fishing area, playground, and grilling area. Paddle boats available. The bridge that connects the tackle shop and the park has been closed so youll have to drive around on to Saunders road and take the Fam Camp entrance.
Good place to take the family kid friendly
