Such a wonderful site to see, looks as if someone sculpted it on their own. The trail to the arch itself was accessible and somewhat paved, not really so easily, but not hard or non accessible either. To see over in the distance has an even more beautiful scene you can only paint in dreams. If there were more than 5 stars, I would rate the top on that chart. This is a site most take for granted, but beautiful would be the understatement to describe
This place is very cool. The arch is very viewable from the parking lot, which is great for those who have limited mobility. Its very beautiful.
It is spectacular to stand in the midst of history. La Ventana Natural Arch is a definite visit if youre in Albuquerque or Santa Fe or in New Mexico. I love that it is kept clean and well maintained. It is definitely one of the best national monument in the south. The fact that this is home to indigenous Americans makes it even more evident that these communities have lived in unison with nature.
La Ventana is down the road about 20 minutes from the sandstone bluffs. It was great, even seen a coyote along the way!
Very pretty natural arch! A small trail takes you to the base of it, and there are some smaller unkept trails leading out of the fenced in area!
Unique formation. Fascinating. Awesome! Nice path suitable for chairs.
Excuse my very biased opinion, but this is my favorite place in the world! Its a personal place of refuge for me. I always find myself coming here to think things through and find peace. I totally recommend that you check it out at least once. Plus the drive is so beautiful! And hint, hint there is a hidden trail where you can climb up and end up right under the arch!!
The snow makes it all the more mesmerizing. Definitely worth stopping to walk and check out. There is a couple of trails that loop around too. I didnt have time but I wish I did. It was really peaceful and something the soul needs every now and then
Greatly improved (walk ways) from my last visit. Impressed. The scenery is really great. Excellent relaxing walk.
Impressive arch in El Mapais NM. It is from a different type of sandstone than a lot of the Utah arches, so it is impressive in its own right, especially giving its proximity to the impressive lava flows. It was really peaceful the evening we were there.
If you like to stop and look at mountains and see the different colors, to see how they look kinda up close, you should go. Its just a little bit of a walk. (Just a couple of minutes) its impressive to see. (At least to me) and you get some fresh air! It is the dessert so, look out for snakes, and scorpions.
Nice to visit but no CAMPING at site.
I loved this place. Me and my wife took severel pictures there..
Incredible sandstone cliffs. There are restrooms at the the parking lot and a few informational signs but the real draw is the landscape.
This is the second largest arch in New Mexico. Theres a short walking path to the arch and you could hop the barrier if you want a closer look. Theres also two pit toilets at the beginning of the trail. The best part - its remote and not very busy. I had the place to myself midweek.
Cool quick spot to check out.
Easy hike but the trail doesnt take you inside the arch. Almost but not quite. Nice view.
Easily accessible natural arch. You can see it from the parking lot or follow a short easy trail to get a closer look.
Beautiful! Short hike to see it closer, but not bad- 5mins
Beautiful landscape, the biggest natural Arch Ive ever seen!
Well worth the stop beautiful outcroppings that reveal Gods power and majesty. Great family photo opportunity.
La Ventana is a very accessible arch. Having lived in Utah for many years, Im not as impressed with the arch just existing - it has to be esthetic, too. This one is OK - in a few hundred years I imagine it will be stunning! The arch is incredibly easy to get to, just a very short walk on an easy path right off the highway. And there are many other beautiful spots nearby to make a day of it.
Really cool natural feature. Its very easy to visit, just a few yards off the main road and a simple hike to get a great view of the arch.
Love it. Always bring my kidos here during the summer.
Must see
Great for a quick stop/ short hike to the base. Restrooms too. Bonus.
Loved it it was beautiful
Definitely well worth a visit. Although you cant get right up to the arch, you get close enough to get some really nice pics
Amazing place, very creppy afterdark, no outdoor or indoor lighting in bathroom, but its definately a rare sight out in the middle of nowhere
From the road, it just looked like an indentation in the rock face, a natural amphitheater, but when you roll into the nicely maintained parking area and take the short hike on gravel trails in to see it closer, its definitely an arch. It has a rock face backing, and it is surrounded by other cliff faces of the Malpais. I took the alternate trail full of cactus back to the car.
Nice short hike to base of arch.
Beautiful. A must see quick stop off the beaten path.
Really a beautiful view. It is a little out of the way though.
Just beautiful. Well with the trip
Nice easy hike. Great view close to lot.
Great little spot to stop and take in some nature.
Speachless views and a unforgettable experience
Love this place, wish you could get closer to the arch. Easily accessible for multiple types of people. Ive seen one wheelchair visitor and several people with strollers walk up to the bottom of the arch. Clean area, though the bathroom can be a little rough some times.
Beautiful. Happy we stopped
Beautiful and unique natural area. Moderate walking level on the trail to see the arch. Great photo opportunities. Pit toilets available.
Beautiful scenery leading up to the arch, and there is an easy hike to get a good view of it. This location also includes bathrooms.
The arch is a short distance from route 117 and theres a nice parking area with restrooms. Its quite an impressive site. Driving along route 117 through El Malpais is really beautiful.
Nice arch but I do wish people can get closer.
This is one of the largest natural arches in NM and its beautiful. Easy walk to view the arch.
Cool arch, but no beer.
Beautiful place to hike. Never crowded had the p,ace all to myself
I love the lack of crowds. So much to see.
An amazing site that has to be seen in person. This is the second longest arch in NM and according to the Natural Arch and Bridge Society, The Window has a span of 135 feet and a height of 80 feet.
Easy .30 walk to the arch. Worth the photo. Restrooms available. Nice drive to the arch. Scenic.
I took my kids here 20 years ago. We climbed around and got some awesome photos
What a BEAUTIFUL place!!!!
Beautiful and a very fun place!
Very cool area. Lots of hiking and very photogenic.
.25mi walk to a closer view of the arch. The surrounding views are dramatic and the arch is very cool.
