Hip place. I attended their salsa dancing lessons. It was pretty cool. They have enough people who know what theyre doing to make you feel comfortable. No food but you can order in. Reasonably priced drinks. Its a good time and a great place to meet new people.

They definitely have some fun nights, but the place can get really sketchy too. Lots of fights and the odd stabbing requiring security pat downs before entering on some nights. That has made things a little better, but the management has also had a long standing problem with overlooking things placed into peoples drinks. I’ve had a few females friends that have had it happen to them at Billy’s over the years.

Great atmosphere. No Drama,the DJ is the goat and the music is always poppin!

Had a fun night. Standing outside in the cold for an hour to get in was a bummer. Others who came later had it worse. Some people bought tickets online and couldnt get in. Too many security people for size of venue. Makes you feel under surveillance. Wish GR had more R & B Clubs.

Good service, friendly bartender, and friendly customers, but the DJ on Tuesday nights plays music like hes intentionally trying to keep the dance floor empty. Everything he played had a tempo that was slightly too slow to comfortably dance to, and when he would manage to play something that would get people on the dance floor, he would follow it up with something extremely slow and promptly empty the dance floor. Whenever you have a full bar, a DJ, and an empty dance floor, theres a problem. I know Tuesdays are supposed to be 2K Tuesdays, but there was a ton of really good dancing and hip hop music in the early 2ks.

They took my friends debit card, and any form of contact they offer doesnt work. Dead phone line, dead social media, (counter intuitive) and dont get me started on all the drugging accusations. Really bizarre that they have business.

Billy’s is cool. One time I was here though and there was a guy selling tamales outside the front door. Best tamales.

Another Eastown gem. We finished our event for the concierges of Grand Rapids at Billys and enjoyed it thoroughly. For some of us, it was our first time and was pleasantly surprised. I like the happy hour prices.

My husband and me just discover this place, we just move to NE and definitely we are going back often.

My roommates phone got stolen there. When we reported it to the staff, they recognized the description and apparently he comes there all the time and steals phones. Why they allow a frequent phone thief in I dont understand, but avoid this place if youre looking for a safe environment to let loose and have a good evening.

If the place had an ADA accessible bathroom they could get more stars. But asking a person in a wheelchair to go to the building next door to use the bathroom isnt okay. It is 2019 and they can do better. Discrimination of any kind is wrong.

Came here for Foolhouses 90s Dance Party Show. Great place with great prices! A bit cozy bit not cramped. Bathrooms are located down a staircase, though; I am not sure if they have an elevator or handicap accessible restroom - call them to check.

BassBin Monday nights can be hit or miss based on crowd size, but when the music is good just dance like no one is watching lol

Really enjoy every time I go and dont have to wait in a long line on a cold night! Different crowds but the Latin nights are great!

Its a place you can run into friends. Ones that you havent seen in a while.. with out a plan or appointment. Im talking about happy hour not the after 9 crowd.

Popular little joint in east town. It has a medium sized dance floor. Latin dancing is great on Wednesday nights. Bouncers and bar staff are respectful and friendly. On popular dance nights get there early as it is common to see a line at the door.

Often good music, reasonable priced drinks, free popcorn. Has pool tables. The bar arrangement is a little unorganized, everyone just cutting in makes it take forever to get served.

Eastown is totally cool place to party, Billys is the place to party when your there.

Perfect size for an intimate music venue but with plenty of space to sit, dance, be at the bar, or play pool. Diverse crowd in many ways, everybody there to have a good time. Great happy hour deals.

We had a fantastic time listening to Hip Pocket, a killer band of about 10 members. The service was prompt. Dancing is popular here. Not sure where the ADA restroom was, but the main one is downstairs. This is a cool place.

I always like this spot but they need to do some better cleaning and get a little revamp in their atmosphere. Feels a little grungy lately and the floors are always sticky. Other than that we always have great service and the drinks are affordable. Cover charge is affordable for the music they put on and the extra security. Better lighting would go a long way in this place. Ill always go here of course, its a staple of Grand Rapids!

Love this place. Reggae, 80s music, and throwbacks are just a few different types of music they offer. Staff is wonderful and entertaining.

Who doesnt like live music, great drinks and an all star staff? Always enjoy Bassbin on the decks. Check them out.

Enjoyed seeing Star Farm. Service was good. But the dance floor was so sticky that my shoes were sticking to it. The no glass or drinks on the dance floor rule is obviously not followed.

The drinks are cheap, but the bartenders make them strong! The music is on point just make sure to check the theme of the night! They have everything from jazz to 80s hits to early 00s to current. It just depends on the night. There is a dance floor making every night at Billys memorable!

Usually a really good time here!Last time I went the door guy let my two friends in for $5 total and when I walked up behind them he tried to charge me $10 to get in. For no reason at all. He was very rude to me and wouldn’t take less than $10. The two bouncers standing by wouldn’t do anything to help me or explain to me why I had to pay 4x as much as my friends to get in. I hadn’t been drinking. I was being polite and asking why I had to pay more than them and he told me if I wasn’t “mouthing off” maybe he would have given me a deal to get in like he did to my friends. I didn’t have $10 cash on me (as they advertised that it was only $5 to get in) so I left. Door guy was obviously on some sort of ego trip. I don’t blame Billy’s for this but they definitely need to have higher standards for who is working. I’ve never been treated like that anywhere.

Great atmosphere. Got there when the doWors opened and got a booth near the stage. Caroline was our wait staff and she was perfect--checking in just frequently enough to get something when you needed it. The band tonight was excellent--Hip Pocket. Great set list of Earth Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder, Chicago, and more. This was my first time here and I will be back.

Great music, a bit on the small side if youre hoping to host a party. They might want to pull all the tables out the center of the floor and just rock with booths and wall counters. It wouldnt seem so congested in the club when its getting full. The female bartenders were a bit crabby but the drinks were well made.

It wasnt a bad place I went very late at night because a friend of my mothers is in a band. So we went there listen to them play (blues). They did an awesome job. I do not remember the name of the band but they had the bar crowed and people dancing. I enjoyed being there for the live entertainment.

This is a bar for everybody. Live music of all types, people of all types and good prices. Only go 5-10 times a year but always my favorite bar in town.

This is the best local bar, great bartenders with a great atmosphere. Their happy hour is fun. They also have bands ever weekend, I have enjoyed the bands that I have seen.

The service was awesome and the bartenders are really nice. My drinks were perfectly mixed and the shots I ordered were good. Maybe it was just a bad night, or maybe its suppose to be a dive bar, but the music was not great (bad EDM/house music) and it was kind of dirty. So once I figure out what their identity is I may have to bump it up to at least a 4 star.

Would be 5 stars if the dance floor was in better shape. Great venue though with excellent talent. We go to BassBin often and have a great time!

Another East Town favorite where you can catch a local band and enjoy a cold one

I only visit when Blues bands are playing but that is often, mostly weekends. Billys has a large variety of different bands that perform there so their calendar of artists is always changing.The staff is excellent. The doorman is polite and accommodating. The wait staff works hard, taking orders, delivering drinks and keeping the place clean.

Great deals during Happy hour. Laid back atmosphere. Lots of dining options nearby and they allow you to bring your food in.

Love blues, jazz, sould, funk, Latin or EDM? Billys is your spot. Live bands all weekend and djs during the midweek. Almost guaranteed to find a night you can enjoy. Free popcorn, moderate priced drinks. One hell of a bar staff.

Not a very clean environment. Extremely packed. Dance floor is very small. A lot of male on female harassment everywhere. Often more men than women inside. Music is decent.

Sex trivia for planned Parenthood is a fantastic time and doesnt happen often enough. Otherwise the bar hass great prices and a friendly atmosphere and is near alot of places that serve food. And even though they dont serve food (besides popcorn) they let you bring in your own.

It always feels like a party at Billys. Good prices, good music, good people. Theres no food, so just know that ahead of time. Yesterdog is right next door so you can get some food there easily. Highly recommend this bar, in my top 3 for Grand Rapids bars.

Not sure what this place thinks it is, a cover charge on a Thursday night AYFKM? Covers went out in the early 90s and you rarely even see them in the big cities today.Other than that, its a decent enough music venue and reasonably priced drinks.

Amazing waitstaff and bartenders. The popcorn is always the favorite part of my visits. :) Throwback Thursday with Starfarm was a total blast.

We have gone on Tuesdays for poptuek twice now. The parking is easy, the bouncers are nice, the bartenders are seriously the best and probably the only reason we went back. Very nice guys, attentive, and cheap drinks. The DJ? Awful. Rude. Hard to follow the music. Even with $10, it takes an hour to play a song request. Theres not more than 10 people in the bar. This is ridiculous and obnoxious.

Fun place to go if you enjoy dancing and people watching. Pool room in the back, booth seating, sometimes live music. Cover at the door is always reasonable and drink prices are so cheap on weekdays.

Billys has cool music and events. They often charge cover on even quiet nights however - it may be divey, but this is still often the case. The bouncers can be a bit overzealous as well - they cut off my girlfriend and were planning to ask her to leave once when she was one drink in and sitting quietly at her table looking at her phone. They were nice about it - just totally off-base. Worth going for events where you like the music or for regular evenings without cover.

I absolutely love coming to Billy’s lounge, the staff is always amazing and the music is great to dance to. The pool tables make the place even better and the drinks are reasonably priced.

Drink prices are usually pretty good. Place always seems dirty though, and as far as a music venue, the quality in sound is usually sub par for the amount of hype. Not bad if you dont have anything else to do, but wouldnt make it your usual watering hole.

Billys Lounge has always had a special place in my heart. Nobody fills a place up for 80s night like Billys does. Nobody fills a place up on a Sunday night like Billiys does, and nobodies dance floor lights up like Billys does. While its become overcrowded (albeit with an ever changing dynamic) its still a great place to visit once in a while. While I love the madness and cacophony of Rockys or other wilder establishments-- I always come back to Billys for cheap beer and enough room to actually move my feet.
