My trip to the GRAM was very nice. There were two art exhibits that were on that were temporary and then they had their permanent collection on the third floor as well. I really enjoyed the two exhibits that were there. One was all about sports photography and it was very enjoyable. There is a pretty cool welcome center and gift shop. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Overall Id highly recommend the GRAM to those looking for a good time.

Beautiful space and interesting works to see. I would recommend going there if you can get a discounted rate or in free worth he kids. It’s not big and won’t take up much time if you’re not full immersed in all the art. I gave it a 4 just because of the ticket prices and not really geared towards kids in any section. Very cool structure inside though, you can take some great pics! Check out the website for updates and deals.

Although the selection is limited the pictures are nice. I usually never want to see all the pictures a museum has because I lose interest. This place is small enough where the pictures are interesting and there is enough variety to cover a few time periods.I would definitely recommend this place as a minor art museum to visit. Some of the art is beautiful and the variety is decent.

Easy to navigate three-floor art museum. Can be loud at times due to lobby sound echoing upwards. Good mix of modern and traditional art but volume of pieces on display is light. Good for a two hour visit but you are on your own to learn about what is on display. Lighting could be improved.TIP: Free admission Tuesdays and Thursdays

We had our wedding here. Amazing venue and space and for the price it’s very reasonable! Plus being surrounded by art made for a really special experience. Only down side for us was day-of staff and coordinator weren’t super willing to help with small stuff like placing programs on chairs, etc. They made a point to tell us it wasn’t technically their job. It would have been helpful to know that ahead of time. Other than that though we had a wonderful time, and the space is well worth the cost.

Very good museum. Quiet, even though there are lots of families with kids, for which there are drawing stations and other hands-on activities to keep the kids busy. The atmosphere is pretty great. And the price for admission is fare. On certain days the admission is actually free, so look out for that. The only thing that I and my girlfriend didnt quite like was the lighting for some of the art pieces... It was set up in the way that made it look worse than it could have with different lighting. But there are limitations to what you can do with that... And I might just be picky. You will enjoy your time there, that I can guarantee!

The Grand Rapids Art Museum was very clean and well put together. The staff were very friendly and vigilant of all visitors and the Art. My husband and I have toddlers (2 & 3.5) we brought them to one of the Art events put on for the children. I would say the Artwork was more geared toward Elementary/Middle School aged students, but our kiddos still had fun. They just didnt have quite as much patience to complete the artwork as was needed at their ages. Also, I want to give a heads up to anyone going to the GRAM with young children, no food or drinks are allowed past the front desk area. But as long as you know that and plan ahead, everything will work out fine :)

Very good if you like traditional art museums. They didnt have any interactive exhibits which would have made it more interesting. The price of the museum just doesnt equal out to how much there is to see. I came with my younger brother (15 years old) and we felt totally out of place. Some pieces were interesting and unique, but most are just boring. Youre better off going to the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts.

I went to the GRAM a few weeks ago for the first time and spent a splendid afternoon there. I particularly enjoyed the sketching tour with Janet and Kathy. I had never been on a sketching tour before, nor had I ever thought to sketch at an art museum. The GRAM definitely has the feel of a modern museum in the sense that there is more space than there is art. Theres nothing wrong with that, except that I would like to spend more than a couple hours there and still have more to see. Luckily, they tend to have excellent exhibits!

The GRAM is a place filled with beauty and the peacefulness one expects in a top quality museum. We wandered around the three floors of exhibits soaking up the Wonder of the artists handiwork. Some of the paintings are hundreds of years old. They enable one to remember to the time before you were born. It truly is a remarkable thing to have ones memory stretched that far.

The GRAM is an art museum in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids. It usually costs money to enter except for Tuesdays and Thursday evenings. Save some money and go then. Its three levels with a sizeable store on the first floor. Escalators take you to the two other floors. The building is large, but compared to other museums in other cities, there arent as many exhibits. Budget one hour.If youre visiting the city, its worth a visit.

Was here for a quick jaunt and got to explore for just briefly as under an hour. They have a small but interesting selection especially the modern displays and installation art. Imagine, walkman and landlines are already part of the display? Also they have several displaya or chairs which reminded me of the chairs of my grandma and our old house. Some house fixture displays would probably remind you of your stroll in IKEA.. Entrance was kind of expensive with regard to the stuff you see inside I think ($10 if I remember correctly).

Elegant in design, and the layout is marvelous! The GRAM is an a great piece of Grand Rapids. The best time to visit is when they have events there; when you do this you pay for two museums for the price of one. The base level art museum is okay, but with the many events year round make it better. If you visit make sure to do it around Art Prize.

The museum encompasses 3 floors, and its layout is roomy but manageable -- it can be comfortably viewed in 60-90 minutes. It can be visited free on Tuesdays as well as Thursday evenings. The permanent exhibits are complimented by wonderful traveling exhibits which keep you coming back. It is well-worth becoming a member.
