2018 marks 5th year since this statue (aka Peace Monument) has been installed in Glendale Central Park. So many people visited it to learn about the unfathomable history so that it is remembered and never be repeated. In 2014, history revisionists filed lawsuits against the City of Glendale to have the Statue removed but the City prevailed after the plaintiffs appealed all the way up to the US Supreme Court. The truth cannot be concealed nor silenced.

It was contradictory to see the tragedy of the enforced sex slavery through the statue at this peaceful park under the sunny sky. It was like this tragedy never happened. But what makes me sadder is its not even resolved yet in 2017. I dont think this is simply an anti-japanese statue. No its not for that. This statue is to remember the inhumane history of sex slaves that should never ever happen again anywhere in the world not just by japanese army. And I guess this statue is made hoping the japanese government to take a genuine action with sincere apologies to the people who suffered from their wrongdoing. There were too many. 200,000. Just few is still alive now after the long time passed that was enough they couldve gotten a real appology but didnt get by the japanese governments ignorance.Really hope the comfort women statues over the world to remind them that they should admit the fact, take responsibility to let people know the real history in goverment level, and stop teaching their young people a wrong history to cover the real one up.Anyway I was really glad to finally see this statue here in Glendale thats also several in South Korea and other countries :)Her face was so young. so sad..Thanks for the artists of this girl statue and for the people who worked to place this statue here.

Womens stories are usually ones of struggle, hardship and perseverance. An important story to be told. Congratulations to Glendale for their courage.

It is the history that all world should know but the truth was hidden by the Japanese war criminals and hypocrites claiming Japan is the victim of WW II.
