The Gullah Museum in Georgetown is a very interesting and educational experience that is well worth a visit to appreciate the history and stories that they are able to tell. It is a good place to come and learn and listen. The staff here is very welcoming and knowledgeable. I had a really good experience here and am happy I got a chance to see it.

The museum is small but has a lot of interesting bits of history. The owner has a lot of fascinating stories to tell. The quilts alone are worth the visit.

It is free to visit but please bring a tip. The museum is a small and intimate single room (can barely fit maybe 30 people at a time). It has a lot of interesting things from and about Africa. The older gentleman that oversees the museum is very knowledgeable, passionate and keen about telling the stories and has a quilt that he uses and guides you with as he narrates. (Its worth listening and paying attention, u will learn so much about the slave trade). If you bring little kids they may not be able to sit through the 45 - hour session so it might be a good idea to opt out of the guided tour and just browse and ask questions if need be.

The curator is a wonderful storyteller. The museum is one room and very small but has some nice things to look at and read. You can sit in the chairs provided and the owner gives you a history lesson of the Gullah people.

The historian is very knowledgeable, Ill give him that.. but he didnt talk much about Gullah traditions as I was expecting. He talked mostly about the civil war, which is obviously very important but being called the Gullah museum I was expecting a little more in the Gullah aspect than basic civil war.Its a small hole on the wall shop with few artifacts and at the end of the day, thats okay.. just letting others know what to expect. If youre bored and have a few extra minutes, This is a good place to stop, but I didnt feel like it was worth planning to go to.

Very informative and interesting history of the beginning of slavery in the Carolina colonies. The historian showed us an example of a quilt and explained the history of the Gullah/Geechie people. Also how Michelle Obamas grandfather came from the Gullah people of Georgetown County. The quilt hangs in Washington ,DC.
