Beautiful structure. I love this place.

As of July 17th 2020 the chain link fence had been opened. You can now enter the church. Although its still considered trespassing Im sure. I still have hope that it will be transformed into a ruins garden like the ones Ive seen Europe. The city of Gary needs to set up a donation site for a future garden.

Great place for the Urbex photographer. Still, dont go alone. It has many weaknesses that get worse each time I visit.

Ireland and Scotland have their ruins. Gary, Indiana has The City Church.You can see it was once a spectacular structure but it has been abandoned and forgotten for so long, I don’t know if it could be saved. You would have to see it to believe it.

Congratulations on achieving historic recognition and receiving an Indiana State Historical Marker! The plaque tells the interesting but sad story of this beautiful old building.

This place is gorgeous, yet falling apart more quickly by the day. A must-see if visiting Gary for sure.

Scrappers and vandals have had their fill of this location. If its metal, its gone. Railings, stairs, you name it. Taggers have covered much of the interior, and the roof is caving in on the entire structure. Five years ago it was a great explore. Today its an echo of what it used to be.

Yes, its covered in graffiti and in a state of disrepair, but its beautiful and worth a stop. Almost always run into someone here whether its people just wanting to check out a church or youtube explorers. Wish more kids would clean up after their photoshoots but what can you do? Hoping it actually gets turned into the ruin garden.

Urban decay of Gary, IN has left this Church abandoned and in rubble. Some how it still manages to be beautiful. Enter at your own risk.

I really with the city would work towards renovating this beautiful place. They recently put up a historic placard I guess to entice someone to put money into it but by the time that happens, this place will be gone.

Its an interesting pile of ruins. I like looking at what architecture is left. It had to have been a beautiful building in its day. They cant restore it. Its been used in some movies, but its just so deteriorated. There is talk of making it into a sort of ruins garden.

Beautiful place and friendly people but the facility was not clean.

Be careful. The building is in bad shape and wish it had no graffiti. Take some lovely shots and remember Christ is not a temple made of stone but the one and only living God.

Honestly one of the best experiences ever to enter that church. I went with a photography crew, and enjoyed the sight as it was, though the citys now condemned the whole place, it forever remains an orphan of time, vandals, scrappers, and time have taken the shiny metals from this place, but it hasnt taken the beauty. Please restore this church to its original glory. Its truely one of the worst and best sights of Gary, Indiana. Below is one of the best shots I was able to capture at this gorgeous building, that if its even considered a building anymore. The whole place has broken apart.

It was a very unique church..its sad because it was vandalized..I would have loved to see it before it was vandalized...
