We booked a private sunset ride for our daughters fourth birthday. It was SO much fun. We saw a pod of dolphins and a rainbow. The horses were all pretty chill and knew what they were doing. We all had a great time. The guides were very relaxed and went with the flow even though we had to switch our kids who were riding double twice.

My Fiance and I went down to Galveston a few weeks ago for the private sunset ride. It was absolutely amazing. The guys running this were so nice and the horses were great! Highly recommend to anyone wanting to ride horses on the beach.

Awesome experience! The guys were very polite and knowledgeable, paired us with horses that seemed to match our personality. My 6 and 10 year old had the best time. We will most def be back soon!

We had so much fun on the sunset ride!! What an incredibly awesome experience for the whole family!! Viewing the beautiful sunset while riding along the quiet beach and through the water made memories we will not soon forget. Our guides, Mike and Preston were knowledgeable, super friendly and easy to talk to! They matched us up to perfect horses to make it enjoyable for everyone. They even helped our 10 year-old overcome his initial fear by guiding his horse until he gained his confidence and finished the ride confidently on his own. I could not recommend this experience more highly!

AMAZING. My boyfriend & I went riding this past Saturday and it was the most absolute fun thing I’ve done in so long. Our guides were so knowledgeable and nice! If my horse got a little behind our guides would slow everyone down and wait for me. It was so relaxing and beautiful, even though it tried to rain on us it was nothing short of amazing. We rode in a group which I really liked. The price is so reasonable for what you get. Please do this! You won’t regret it.

OUTSTANDING way to spend a Saturday. Riding on a pretty private beach on such a beautiful day was exactly what I needed after not being able to do anything in a few months. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable. My friend and I had great horses; Scout & Blaze. Price is extremely reasonable for what you get; beautiful scenery and a great experience. Highly recommend.

I had never ridden a horse before and was a little nervous, and they were very good at helping everyone relax! The horses are all very well-behaved and know the trail well, so you really dont have to do a lot of steering... the horses will follow the guide so you can just enjoy the ride. This was one of the funnest things Ive done and Im so glad we went. We went on a ride with two other groups, so there were six guests and two guides total. I actually really liked riding with other people in a bigger group - we got to see more horses and everyone was having a great time. They take you around the eastern tip of the island and then you turn around ride back, so you get to see some really pretty scenery of the beach and ocean. The horses walk the whole time (no trotting, galloping, etc) so its very relaxing. If you are on the fence about doing this, DO IT! They are awesome!

We had an amazing time here. I took my 5 and 7 year old daughter. Tbe guide was absolutely amazing and asked if my 7 year old wanted him to hold the reigns until she was comfortable. She was doing a good job with her horse so he led her into the water and really made the most out of the experience. Would highly recommend and I will go again if were in the area.

This was our first house riding experience and it couldnt have went any smoother! The handlers were all so very nice and knowledgeable of all the horses. The horses were very well-mannered and beautiful! If I couldve given it a ten I wouldve!

My wife and I did the sunset beach ride during our honeymoon and had a great time. The sunset was gorgeous and we had fun riding the horses through the water. Our guide was great! Highly recommend!

Reservation process was easy. Although I do recommend reading over all instructions on the website because they are very specific! Great communication. Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Our guide was awesome. Highly recommend, as these people really care for their horses. Prices are reasonable as well. Definitely going back!

RESERVATION NEEDED. DO NOT count on showing up and getting a ride. I called and left a message over an hour and a half before we arrived at the beach. When we arrived, paid 15.00 to park, we were told they were booked but we could be put on a waiting list. I called again and left a second message to reserve....still no call back. They get one star because they failed to call back. They need to include all booked for the day in their voice message.

The horse ride was amazing, my daughter really enjoyed it. The guys there on-site were very nice and explained the rules for the ride nicely yet firm. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because the email I got when I reserved wasn’t too clear. It said I needed to respond to the email to accept the time and date of the reservation then the next line was call before 12pm the day prior to my reserved time- I responded to the email to confirm the reservation but I requested someone email me to let me know if I needed to call as well. I’m on vacation, I made the reservation and I emailed to confirm, if I need to call the day prior before noon also is a bit much. I have toddlers and life is already so chaotic at home so it’s even crazier on vacation. I didn’t get a response to my email but did get a call however I didn’t have my phone and when I called back there was no answer luckily I called again the day of the ride and was told my reservation had been canceled however Pete said he could fit me back on the schedule at my reserved time. I’m glad I called them again because I would have been ticked off had I shown up there for nothing. Pete did call me back well after my daughter had her horse ride nonetheless my daughter got to do something she really wanted to do while we were here. Another thing to mention is it costs $15 to drive up to the area where the horse ride is, there is free parking but as mention there was no way I’m walking that distance (it is quite a ways away from the free parking lot), I didn’t know about this additional cost until I arrived there.Overall though my daughter had a great ride and hasn’t stopped talking about it. I definitely would recommend as long as you follow all the rules to reserve your slot.Big thanks to Mike, the guide for the ride!

We rode this afternoon, they are great and accommodating. I had a anxiety while on the horse and Mike welcoming took control and attached mine to his so I could enjoy the ride. It was very enjoyable and great. The horses were well behaved and calm.

My novice horseback riding family booked a guided ride with Galveston Island Horse and Pony Rides and I was very happy with the experience. My 7 year old granddaughter rode on her own horse with a guide holding the line. She was so excited to be sitting on this majestic animal!! The guide took the 7 year old out into the surf and from the laughter, I knew she was enjoying the experience. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Both children stated it was the best thing they did while in Galveston Beach. The bottom line, it was fun and a great shared experience for all members of the family who ages varied from 4 years to 67 years!

Riding a horse on the beach has been on my bucket list. I took the sunset ride. It was perfect!!! I rode Blazer he was a gentle and loving horse. My guide was very knowledgeable and nice to talk to on the ride. I will definitely come back again.I read some of the reveiws before I wrote mine. Ive been around horses all my life and they where not drugged. Tired from a long days work, yes, but so are we when we work all day. The lead horse is there to keep all the other horses in line.There was a lot of trash but if everyone who came to visit this beautiful place would take the time to clean up after themselves the whole world would look a lot better. This beach would be clean.

Kids really enjoyed riding the horses on the beach. Handler was awesome and both guys were awesome with helping them with the horses. When you enter the East beach park there is a fee to enter but there is free parking outside the entrance if you dont mind the walk. Note: You have to pay the fee every time you enter the park, even if you paid already. We would definitely go again.

My son had a very nice ride by the beach and the instructor made sure he was safe and enjoyed his ride and was a very good price definitely will go back again

Nice beach but the horse and pony rides were closed. Nice clean beach with amenities and parking. Good place for shell hunting and beach walking. No crowds this time of year and you can watch the ships in the ship channel from the point at the levi. A walk out on the levi is nice if the waters not too rough. All in all its a nice place, I will be back.

Absolutely one of the best experiences Ive ever had on a vacation! Went on a private sunset ride, the guide was super nice and took pics for me when my phone died and sent them to me and the horses were awesome! As a horse owner and experienced rider they werent deadhead nags that made the ride boring, but for my inexperienced boyfriend they were just right! Overall a perfect ride, Ill definitely do this again next time Im back!

GIHPR canceled my private booked ride even though I confirmed via e-mail the day prior as asked, even got a response from their e-mail address thanking me for the response. They called the 30 mins before I was going to leave and I responded as soon as I got the message. This was an hour before the start time and they texted me saying they canceled the ride. With limited vacation time it’s not possible to reschedule. A very poor way of doing business and honestly seemed like someone didn’t want to guide the ride for us. I guess GIHPR doesn’t need to make money, must be nice to have all the income you need to provide for your horses. I recommend another company or wait until you visit another beach town to enjoy a horse back ride on the beach.

Awesome! My first time on a horse so i was a little uneasy but the guides were so helpful and nice. The view was beautiful. My horse, Bullseye, was a real sweetheart. I would recommend to anyone who is coming to Galveston. We will be back.

We had a wonderful time. Never rode on a beach or in the water. Very cool. Guides were very pleasant and informative. Next time we go to Galvinston we will go again.

The kids had a great time. Beautiful sites and nice spot on the beach.

Too crowded. The whole beach was a big mess of trash and people caring less of it. Its sad to see how people destroy and not pay attention to signs and warnings. We find a spot far from every one and was nice and quiet but still in this far site was dirty and trash all over the beach.

Its a nice place but the water is not that convincing but I absolutely love staying over night and watching the sun rise on the beach dont know about hotels since I camp at the beach but they look great definitely suggest staying some time

Ride was awesome but it was supposed to come with a picture and we never got a picture with the price. I asked at the end how we the picture and she said I should have asked earlier... why should I have to they should know it came with price and should have done the picture like stated not my responsibility to ask by a certain time! Really disappointed when that was the reason we went through this place was for a picture very misleading on that and will not be back Bc for 70 dollars other places were cheaper without a picture and could have save money for the same thing we got!!
