We didn’t tour the children’s museum. We went through the Moody mansion. Beautiful house. Lots of wonderful things to look at. It’s a self-guided tour which I really liked, you can spend as much time in any room that you like. This is my second trip to the mansion. It’s only $14 per person, so it’s really worth it.

I strongly recommend you taking your children to this museum. Your children will love it! I didnt hear not one parent complain. Most of the parents were just there relaxing. The kids are completely occupied. Every parents dream!

This is a great place to take the kids while youre in Galveston. Nice change of pace from sitting on the beach sweating. Its located on the lower floor of The Moody Mansion so parking is limited. Theres a ton of things for toddler and elementary age kids to do. My kids played for hours and didnt want to leave. They also have a room big enough for birthday parties and other events. The staff was very friendly.

The staff was nice and the activities was unique. My kids loved the building station and brought home everything. They were so excited they made it. Each room is unique and appeals to different types of children. From the art room to the wood building workshop and science and car tracks in between. Recommend it to anyone.

My 8 year old had fun pretending & exploring & creating. Enough kids to play with, but not enough to clutter the stations. Parents get to be the patients, audience or customers while kids pretend to run a business or be a doctor or an actor, etc...

Really really fun place to take the family. Im 22 and my wife is 24 and even we had fun. With the wide selection of workshops, to exceptionally friendly staff, its a great place to visit and let your kids run wild, from experience they will sleep VERY well. Wood work workshop where you and your children can build and keep toys with the parts that are there, a heartbeat sensor that bangs a drum to your heartbeat so you can actually hear it, so simple things like a tube with a fan below you can stick balloons in and they shoot up. Waffling on now, but seriously if your visiting the area like my family were, its worth the entry fee

Great variety of stations for toddlers and big kids. We can spend 2-3 hours here everytime we visit. We love coming here because its a small space so we dont worry about losing our kids! Art room, wood work shop area for older kids, train station, drs office, pizza kitchen, fishing boat, lego wall and so much more. No food or snacks are allowed. Yearly membership is definately worth it if you have young kids.

WOW!!!! Moody Mansion is a must see! What an amazing family and history they have. Their endeavors and contributions to society reach way beyond the boarders of Galveston,Texas. I have lived here most of my life and had not been inside to take the tour. Amazing home! I would have loved to have met the Moody family. Although wealthy, they seemed like very well rounded, ethical people. Living in a time when your word was your bond. The Moodys set the standard high and kept their word. The Childrens Museum was incredible! I think a family could make memories of a wonderful day spent together at Moody Mansion and Childrens Museum!

Great for all ages! There are multiple play areas that range from infant and toddler friendly through pre teen. The entry fees are very reasonable, and memberships are a great deal. They frequently rotate crafts and activities, so it always feels new and exciting for the kids. Parking is limited, but during the week there is usually no issue.

My 2 yr old neice enjoyed her short time here but I think visitors should get a partial refund or not have to pay full price if you go in when theyre closing soon. The girl who convinced us to do the mansion tour failed to mention they closed the museum at like 6:00 on a Saturday. Maybe 5:00 I cant remember. It was ridiculous and she barely had time to play but she enjoyed it nevertheless. I think it would be a lot of fun to visit again and stay longer and see ALL of the activities and things for the kids to do.

A very unique children museum, tinkering area where they explore and create, ingeniering, mechanical, imaginary, the set up in a basement of a mansion gives a vintage unique touch, full of lights, outdoor area to explore with water, and big building blocks. Toys and majority are wood giving a natural approach great for children, not overly busy with lights and noises which are a distracting factor in many museums. Art area with set up tables where they come and make their art, play with play dooh and visit the bearded dragon. Great museum!

Unfortunately its a very small area and can get very crowded. Also it doesnt exactly cater to safety for the younger ones. Lots of chocking hazards so be careful. But it was a good way to occupy the little ones time. You may be able to go on Groupon for half off tickets. Even full price however the tickets are inexpensive and worth checking out at least once. I am probably spoiled by some of the larger and significantly more spectacular childrens museums I have been too.

Honestly , and I know its for Kids but this place could use a major upgrade. Ive been to the San Antonio kids museum and after that which was so good I tend to compare other kids museum to that one. sorry to say but if you are gonna charge people you can atleast have some good activities for kids or atleast let parents know the age range he that your museum accomodates. I think its mainly for toddlers.

Overall this place was nice, but it was a lot smaller than I anticipated. The toddler area is only about 10 X 14. When we went hardly anyone else there, but if there had been more it would have felt very crowded. The exhibits were all really pretty cool, but better for ages 3+. Theres a fairly large outdoor area but not much in it - I feel like theyre really missing an opportunity there. It definitely had more of an intimate Montessori feel than the Houston Childrens Museum, which I like, but we probably wont be back until our daughter is a few years older.

If you live in Galveston County, and have kids under the age of 8, you need to go here. They curators at this little gem have done a ton is such a small space! They have over 15 stations (more when it is nice weather outside) and they are constantly rotating many of them. This place is more of a creative play and exploration area versus museum, but it is amazing!Staff are friendly and helpful. It is always clean and straightened. Ive always felt comfortable letting my 4 year old wander around to her hearts content, without feeling the need to hover or what not.If you go, and pay for your entrance fee and love it (which you will) you can always go back to the desk and put your entrance fee from that day towards a yearly membership, which comes with some perks of its own. I would highly recommend doing this, as you will probably be back monthly, if not weekly! All in all, best membership we have at our house.

We love going here. If you live on the island it is a great idea to just get the membership or even the passport membership because with that one you can invite four other people to come with you. If you plan to go more than 7 times in a year I highly recommend these options. This is a friendly, fun and fantastic place for young children. My daughter is four and loves making pretend food and serving it to me. There are plenty of places for children to go and little rooms to explore and each one has a spot for parents to sit down and relax. They keep it very clean and neat all the time and I never worry that my daughter will will get bored after a few visits because they are constantly changing up the smaller play stations.

For a child under the age of 8 this place may be amazing! It is a place for them to play, color, dance, dress up and just have a great time. Now, for a parent, it is boring and not a place for adults, but it is a place made for children. I enjoyed watching my son have a great time. Yes they turned what some consider junk into toys (PVC pipe, plates, torn material for dress up), but the kids love it!

It was a bit disappointing. I expected an actual childrens museum and its really more of childrens activities. Not very large, its in the basement of the moody mansion. If your kids are under 8 and its a rainy day in Galveston this will kill a few hours. The staff really tries but I dont think they have a lot to work with. There was an exhibit where the kids could build things with wood, nails and other things. They can even take what they build home. It was a nice idea. We told the staff they were put of nails and we were told there were no more nails for the day? Really? $5 at home depot fixes that.

Lego wall, duplos, water and sand tables outside, an art room with activities set up and a lizard friend, a play boat with fish and crabs, a play kitchen, restaurant, and diner. Rooms with hammers and nails and stuff to take apart. A box fan table to try your parachute, ballon, or scarves at. A huge area to try your hand at making a track for wooden balls, a kids stage with puppet theater. A clinic and so much more. Great for rainy days or the insane texas weather days!
