Always a fun place to come hang out and look around. Lots of cool shops and I retesting things to do and eat and try. The jerky place is good and has unique things to try, and gives samples. The la king candy shop is yummy. And it is just a pretty and older place to walk around.

Great shopping, delicious dining, perfect people watching! Stroll down the sidewalks and soak in the historic architecture! These old buildings are homes to the best shopping on the island! Unique gifts, clothing, home decor, you name it...it can be bought on the Strand. And above the shops, many people call those historic lofts Home! The rail trolley will be making a comeback soon after being damaged in Hurricane Ike. Head over to Pier 21 for more great dining, museums, dolphin tour boat rides, and the best sunset views on the island!

The Strand is a great district to visit. So much to see and do. There is a Starbucks of course. There are ice cream parlors, bars, live music, Rocky Mountain Chocolate, museums, restaurants and so much more. You can walk to the pier and may see huge jellyfish or take a dolphin tour. There is a trolley also than you can ride. I love the carriage rides that are also informative. Most of the people are very friendly in the shops. There are great finds. A little helpful fact is that lots of these shops have coupons to the Landrys restaurants for things like priority seating and free appetizers! Must pay for parking but it is reasonable.

We were going on a cruise so we went early to check out The Strand Historic District in downtown Galveston. The historical buildings were in great shape with signage telling about their history. There are museums, restaurant and shopping. We also checked out the 1877 ship Elissa while we were there. It brought 133,000 immigrants to the US through Galveston. She still sails today.

My wife was born in Galveston and raised in the Houston area. It is fun to walk around and buy stuff or just walk around and enjoy the sites. Paying for parking anywhere is ALWAYS annoying. It is sad to see people down on their luck and we try to help where we can but P.D really needs to step up their game on reducing panhandling.

The Galveston Historic Strand District is the largest historic district in Texas and is recognized as such under the Federal Registry of Historic District. The district was developed in the early 1800s and there are many buildings there still standing tall and strong with brown stone architectural designs. The district survived the 1900 storm and today, it is the center of activities with many shops and visitors.

Its not as nice as it used to be. There are bunches of Art Galleries and eclectic stores, but it just wasnt the same. Maybe we didnt get to the right part, but I wasnt impressed with what we did see. There was a nice used book store holding an Author signing, and it had a bibliocat. Other than that, I found the prices pretty high comparatively. One of the books I bought was listed for $14.99 in the store, but Amazon and Barnes and Noble has it selling for $12.99. The owner sold it to me for the reduced price. (I wouldnt buy it otherwise).
