This is a great park. They have two ponds that my dogs love, a washing station both indoors and outside with plenty of towels, and all the other dogs weve bumped into so far are well behaved. Highly recommend.

My dog was attacked several times at this park. The last time resulting in hundreds of dollars in vet bills. Being 5-7 months old at the time. A mastiff. There are dogs there with owners that can’t control them. The last was an elderly lady with a pit mix that was dragging my puppy through the back lake, not all owners there are bad but the park doesn’t kick out the aggressive dogs so it’s a hit and miss. They’ll say “they’ve been here a long time” and dismiss all reports, (Jake , Arrow) watch your dog/puppy around them. The staff is nice, there are however amazing dogs/puppies there that have been trained and are dog friendly. But the bad ones stay, and shame on them for that. It takes 1 time to end fatally.Arrow (older) is a snapper, he has tumbled my dog little snaps but he has an authority complex when at the park and his owner just walks around with them, not reactionary. A few other snaps have happened from other dogs and the attackers still remain. Might be them not wanting to lose the business, but they lost my business when I had a bleeding puppy on their porch while them telling me “they’ve had issues with Jake before but he does fine in the daycare” “he is one of the “daycare dogs” the veterans have priority and view it as their park. The owner during the attack was offering to hold my phone so I can dive in the lake to get Jake off my puppy. Absolutely no control putting other dogs and people safety at risk. So as I’m wadding through the lake Jake having my puppy fully submerged. Her scream “I’m sorry” from the shore ... I told her “Stop saying sorry and get your dog off my dog!!!!” And this is under the “New ownership” so don’t let them use that.

I took my puppy there to try it out for a play date during the week because I got off early. I was disappointed with the maintenance of the park. It was old and run down. The “swimming pond” was a disgusting green color and the water was warm. Great place for bacteria to grow, I didn’t even feel comfortable letting him get in. .it should have some kind of circulation to keep the water from getting disgusting in the Florida heat. It was just basically standing water. It had torn plastic all around the outside and a gazebo that was falling apart beside it, that was basically the only play area for the dogs. The dogs while I was there, were all caged and not out playing. Grass was over grown. I saw a few fences in need of repair. I was expecting a better maintained facility for one that you pay to go to. Will not go back. Disappointing experience.

My two guys have attended doggie daycare and boarding at this facility for the past two years (since they were three months old). They both have special needs, and the friendly and caring staff always take excellent care of them. The new owners have been working diligently over the last several months to make improvements to ensure all pets have a safe and fun experience. They are always professional and polite and immediately address any questions or concerns. I work with animals as a profession, and I would never leave my personal pets any place that I did not trust. Must Love Dogs is a safe place, with awesome staff that will love your fur babies as if they were their own. My boys come home tired and happy at the end of the day. I would highly recommend them. Please note that a negative review is one-sided and doesnt reflect the full story. I am happy to share my positive experience with anyone who wishes to get more information.

My big pup goes here for Doggy Daycare. He loves it and we love how exhausted he is when we bring him home. You have the option to pay per day or sign up for a package. Before you can enroll for doggy daycare your pup needs to successfully pass a trial day. My pup failed initially and the staff person suggested waiting a month for my pup to mature some. He was 7 months old. So we did as suggested and gave it another shot a month later and he passed! Staff is attentive and super friendly and seem to love the dogs as much as us customers. They are great with upkeeping the grounds and my pup is always thrilled to see his doggy and human friends. Highly recommended!

Overall its a good park, Now some of the people that come to the park are just crappie people. I had a guy that brought his two dogs and just let them gang up on other dogs. They were showing teeth and had them snap at my pit twice. How my dog didnt react and take that dogs neck off shows good training. I didnt report the problem cause Im not that type of person. But since is a review to hopefully help others, I warn others to really keep an eye out for owners not walking with there animals.

If you’re looking to board your dog, DO NOT use Must Love Dogs Gainesville! We have been using Must Love Dogs for a few months now and have been extremely pleased with the service until now. This past weekend our dog, Tucker, came home from a weekend stay with scrapes all over him. We were never notified about any scrapes or issues with his stay, so when we got home and found the scrapes all over him we became worried. Within 24 hours of leaving Must Love Dogs, we had to take Tucker to the vet where he was treated for dehydration, sickness, and the scrapes. When talking to the manager about the situation he was extremely rude and not helpful at all! He didn’t even refund us the full amount we paid in advance for a future booking we had. We will never be using Must Love Dogs again and I urge you to stay clear if possible!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PUPS HERE!I have never dealt with such poor customer service in my life. We have had nothing but good interactions with Must Love Dogs until yesterday when we picked up our dog after a weekend away and came home to find lacerations as our vet describes them, all over his stomach. He was also acting strange and later became lethargic, vomiting and experienced diarrhea. The vet treated him for the skin infection and dehydration as a result of the stay at Must Love Dogs. When calling to ask if staff knew where he obtained the injuries and to request a refund for the pre-paid deposit for the next weekend, we were dismissed and yelled at by the owner/general manager and told to leave the premises. We will never use this business again and highly encourage others to stay away as well. Some of the ladies who work there may be nice, but ultimately they are disorganized, understaffed, and dont have your pets best interest in mind.

My dog has been going here for almost 2 years and we have loved it - up until 1 month ago I would have given this place 5 stars. I recommended it to all my friends with animals and trusted the staff to the fullest with my dog. My dog use to whine going down archer road with excitement to get to daycare. She use to bolt through the doors and never look back. Over the past several weeks there was a change in management/ownership and staff. They aren’t as welcoming and seem annoyed to be at work. My dog’s attitude has also changed. She no longer gets excited when we pull in the parking lot, and the last 2-3 times we have been there she has to be basically dragged in. Not sure what has happened while she has been there but we are taking this as a sign that it’s no longer a place we trust taking our dog. It’s really sad because this used to be a great place!

This is the best dog park in Gainesville! It is members only, and all the dogs are screened so you dont have to worry about yours being attacked by some aggressive ruffian. Plus there are two ponds to practice fetching sticks and so on with your pooch and acres and acres of land for them to run around with each other. Its leash-free so you just cant ask for better than this.

It’s unfortunate, I would have talked good about dogwood .Until this happened!I have a friend that has work there for 2yesrs & he just got mauled by a dog in the face. And the doctors had to sew his top lip back on and he has to undergo plastic surgery. The worst part is that this happened before and the owners knew about it and let the dog go there during the day anyways. The owner also tried scaring my friend into signing a paper stating that it never happened, luckily he didn’t sign.I don’t know about anyone else but I personally will never take my dogs there again, yes the park area is amazing for dogs , but if that’s how the owners are running it I’m not only scared for my dogs safety , but mine as well.I will put this on every platform I can to warn the people of the negligence of the owners! So this doesn’t happen to any kids or anyone else.

It seems that many people have had a good experience at this place. This was not the case for my family. We recently adopted a whippet puppy. He needs enough space to run once a day, so we found this park to be one of the best in Gainesville. It has many open spaces to play and there are always lots of friendly dogs and people around. However, the price for entry is quite high ($12). So we decided to enroll in a monthly membership. The staff member who signed us up said there were two options - 7 days/week and weekends. She told us the weekend package included Fri, Sat, and Sun. We thought this worked best with our schedule and budget. We also liked the idea of having a relationship with staff members at a day care/ boarding facility. We regularly travel for conferences. Prior to boarding, they have a mandatory trial period of 3 hours day care. We asked about being shown around the boarding facility, but the staff member told us that customers are not allowed back there. This should have been a red flag. When we picked our puppy up from his trial day care, the staff member said he was great. But he did have a few scratches on his knees. We assumed it was from innocent horseplay. In November, we boarded with them for 3 nights. When we picked him up he had skinned both of his knees and looked much thinner. The staff member informed us that he had jumped over the enclosure wall, injuring himself. This suggested to us that the enclosure conditions are unsafe given that our pup was just 5 months old and could jump over the walls. More importantly, he had lost weight, suggesting either he was not fed properly or other dogs were stealing his food. The following weeks, he ate frantically as if he was afraid someone would take it away. After boarding, our puppy did not return to Dogwood for several weeks because we had him neutered. When we returned, on a Friday, the staff member informed us that our weekend membership did not cover Fridays. It was only good for Saturdays and Sundays. At that point we requested that our membership be cancelled. It was not worth it, and we were tired of the unprofessional atmosphere. This was in mid-December 2017.In January 2018, we were again charged for a monthly weekend membership. We went by Dogwood and requested that we be refunded. The staff member assured us that it must have been a mistake and that it would be fixed. He had us fill out a form requesting that our membership be cancelled and payment refunded (which the staff member in December never had us fill out). It has been over one week, and we have still not been refunded. We will again have to call to ask about the membership cancellation! In sum, this park could be a great place. But the staffing and management issues and the unsafe boarding conditions do not make it worth the headache or potential heartache. There are other (free) parks in town that are just as nice (e.g. Squirrel Ridge).

Great dog park! Awful managment! I love the dog park, but if I never had to talk to that impossibly socially inept woman at the front desk itd be even better. If theres more than one, then you probably know who Im talking about. If I could pay extra to send her to etiquette class so that she could communicate in more polite and friendly manner I wouldnt mind in the slightest. Theres no reason to have someone who is awful at talking to people as the face of the dog park.

People are very friendly, good dogs in the park in general, but the ponds are filthy. The park is in general run down and lacking maintenance. The park is not public and not cheap to be so poorly maintained. The major problem is that the ponds are not properly maintained, the water is green and filthy. My dog has skin infections twice from swimming in the ponds, even after washing her after each visit. The second time we got the skin infection from the dog, so we cancelled our membership. Its a shame because the park has the potential if it was properly maintained.

This is undoubtedly the best dog park I have been to ever. As a long time fan of going to a safe place where my dog can run off-leash, this place has it all.Dogwood is located on 15 acres of land with many trees to provide shade and a really woodsy feel without dangerous ground growth, it offers hills and flat areas to run and play. The two lakes are really great for swimming and cooling off, there is a gazebo, chairs ,picnic tables, hammocks and swings. The wildlife is great, the office staff could not be any nicer. The people keep close supervision of their pets and everyone thoughtfully picks up after their pets waste using the stations conveniently located in all areas. Park personal require proff of vaccinations, and registration, and also provide daycare and boarding services to people who want them. The dogs can play outside and most sleeping areas are without metal bars, all dogs are well supervised in the boarding area. Although this is a private park, visits and membership are reasonable and definitely make a difference. It is open from daybreak until dawn and members can use the park 7 days a week. The people that take their dogs there are nice and find it to be a great place for their dogs as well as owners, and appreciate the effort Dogwood makes to meet everyones needs. Many find visits there very worthwhile for socialization, exercise, and so enjoyable as to carry over at home where their dogs are better behaved. My dog and I are big fans, and enjoy the Easter egg hunt, and Christmas season parties fun and entertaining for all. I suggest calling ahead to be sure the office is open on their first visit in order to show shot records and they will be glad to anwser any questions you might have during your first visit. My dog Stella and I could not ask for a more fun and clean dog park, with something for every dog to do according to their personality and a place to be a leash free in the safety of Dogwood. Try it your dog will love you even more. Stella says dogs may drool but Dogwood rules as a wonderful great playground for your best friend.

My family trains service dogs, and have taken all 10 of our trainees to Dogwood Park regularly for training, exercise, and play. In my opinion, the ponds at Dogwood are the best place in Gainesville for them to swim--a true necessity for Labs and Golden Retrievers. Yes, the water in the ponds changes with the seasons, as do the plants and animals that live throughout the park. But I have certainly never found it to be filthy or poorly maintained, as mentioned in a recent review. Goldens especially are famous for skin problems, and ours have never had any issues after swimming at Dogwood. The park owners and staff work hard to maintain a safe and healthy environment for both dogs and people, and have always responded promptly to any question or concern that I have had. I think when our current trainee goes to heaven, it will be just like the front pond at Dogwood, and she will paddle around it through all eternity.

My wife and I moved to Gainesville about 9 months prior and got a puppy a couple months after that. When we finally felt comfortable enough to board her, we asked coworkers and friends what they recommended. Dogwood Park was one of the recommendations and since it was close to where we live, we thought wed give it a shot. Being first time dog owners, we were impressed they required a behavior observational period (to make sure your dog could play nice with others) before theyd allow you to board your dog there, as well as requested all the appropriate vaccine information. We left our dog for 9 days with her bed, some toys, and food. When we picked her up, she had quite a few scratches and cuts on her, her bed was filthy and partially ripped, but her tail was wagging, so we thought all was OK. Fast forward to Labor Day weekend when we left her at Dogwood for a 4 day weekend. She was returned to us with a horrible cough/sneeze/wheeze which after google searching, we found was kennel cough or bordetella (which our dog was vaccinated for and in theory all other dogs should have been as well). After a couple days of these horrible sounds coming from our dog, we felt it was appropriate to let Dogwood know there was an issue. The staff person who answered said there had been a bordetella outbreak a couple of months ago but was unaware of a recent one. She asked if wed like to speak to the manager, who wouldnt be in until Saturday, to which my wife said yes. We simply wanted to let them know that there was something afoul at Dogwood and that our dog had gone to them healthy and come home sick. Saturday came and went and we never heard from anyone at Dogwood, including the manager. While the front staff has always been pleasant, I can honestly say we wont be bringing our dog back here ever again. I always appreciated the staff showing genuine concern and being friendly but in the end, our dog being kept in a healthy, safe environment is paramount and that clearly isnt happening here. It is worth it to find a place that maybe charges another $5-10 more a night to forego the damage to our dogs health and the vet bills caused by apparently questionable conditions.
