Nestled near the heart of Gainesville the Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve is truly a great place to visit. There is a large figure 8 type trail with a huge suspension walking bridge in the middle.Very pretty area and great place to get away to for a couple hours of day hiking. There is a 5 dollar parking fee however Chicopee does offer a 50 dollar annual pass.

Love these trails! Only negative is that the bathrooms are usually closed so go before you get there! Trails are well marked, shaded by the trees, and just beautiful. You will cross several bridges over calming streams. There is also a pavilion with picnic tables.

Another good trail. This trail circles the lake. It is not paved and has a hilly terrain. Wear good walking sneakers. Nice and peaceful.

Great trails, dogs are only allowed on weekends year round. Be careful as the will call the police if you have a dog during the weekday. Also no fishing at the pond.

Quiet, surprisingly extensive, and well maintained trails. Its an amazing alternative ive found for when i want to be in nature or work on my photography but dont feel like driving all the way up to the mountains. 5/5!

I really enjoy this preserve. The trails here are well marked and moderately well maintained. My favorite is the Lake Loop which has an awesome suspension bridge in the middle and a lovely lake at the end (or beginning depending which way you go). The only thing I can say is make sure to put your donations in to keep this hidden jewel going for years!

Nice trails, multiple routes to take. Mostly flat with some moderate inclines/declines, some areas have a lot of roots. $5 daily parking fee.

The Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve that is maintained and operated by the Elachee Nature Science Center offers various hiking trails in Gainesville, Georgia. The Lake Loop trail my sister and I hiked, though not paved, is well marked and easy to follow, yet quite challenging because of some inclined terrain. The trail for me is not much scenery, but the lush, green forest creates an environment that will bring us away from the toxic reality of COVID-19 pandemic. So tranquil you will only hear your footsteps and the sounds of the birds, bees, and squirrels as you walk around the loop.

Great hiking place with more than 6 miles of trails, a lake and a lush beautiful forest. And the suspended bridge is a real plus. It is really an oasis of nature with well maintained paths and an interpretive center.

Nice and quiet, great place for lunch break. Saw 4 herons and alot of spotted dragonflies. Plus some really cute baby toads. I like paved walkway to lake, note it and dock areas still need cleanup from when the water got so high but nothing major.

We just had to laugh about it. First there is a fee to park. We went on a Sunday afternoon and there wasn’t a single car in the parking lot *red flag*. The entire entrance to the trails is flooded by 6” or more of water which renders the entire park unusable. And of course the restrooms were locked. Also on google maps, the location was incorrect.
