What a museum! Its absolutely gorgeous and perfectly put together. So much information, you feel like your there. Be ready to spend the day there. You cant see it all in a day. Do not bring young children. Our 3 year old loved seeing the planes, but was bored. Its worth every penny. Your taken back in time, forgetting about whats going on in our world today and leaving with more pride for our country. I love history and the WWII Era!

This place is just filled with history and has so many exhibits that your tickets to get in are good for 2 days. You could literally spend 2 full days here it is that nice and has so much to see. We throughly enjoyed visiting and seeing what the heroes of this Country did to protect our freedom. The sheer amount of things they have can be overwhelming but take your time as you are in no rush. Everyone there was so kind and helpful and I cant RECOMMEND highly enough that you go to see this museum. Parking is FREE and 18.00 for adults which was worth every penny. Thank you for preserving our history so well and thank you again to all of our brave men and women for your service and sacrifice to our country. You will not regret going to this museum I promise you!!

So the price was a bit high but I really wanted my kids to get a better understanding or the war and history in general. I bit the bullet and spent the money, am I glad I did. Walked up and saw the top of a uboat “rising” out of the ground in front, and a row of artillery guns and naval guns. I thought that’s cool. We went in and were greeted by friendly staff, videos about how the war started and room after room or equipment, uniforms and pictures detailing every aspect of the war. That was nice enough but then we saw a full miget submarine with three projection screens and lights and sound effects describing the attack on Pearl Harbor. Totally impressed we walked on to find a full B25 bomber straight from the Doolittle raid. My jaw dropped and my kids jumped excitedly. They began chanting “I feel the history in my hands” as they looked and learned from each new display. They have multiple planes, a boat, a jeep and so much more. By the time we left, our feet sore from the hours of exploring, our stomachs rumbling or the hunger we’d built up, I felt as if I had cheated the museum and not given enough. Job well done! Thank you, my kids and I will never forget this experience.

I found myself lost in this maze. The museum is packed full of interesting historical items, so cool but if you turn the wrong way you are suddenly scratching your head on the direction to go next. But all in all if you follow the prescribed route it is nice as they take you on a history lesson from the early days of prewar japan to the end and Hiroshima. I would go again, although I’d recommend having a few drinks first.

The National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg TX is one of the absolute best you could experience. You can easily spend two days and still not come close to absorbing all it has to offer. We booked our space two days ago for a 9:30am slot, which made me feel a little more comfortable believing they were keeping visitor numbers low due to COVID. There could not have been many more people in the museum, and several pulled their jersey neck warmers off their noses when getting past check-in. Several were coughing chronically.Folks, unless you’re comfortable getting on an airplane in these times, skip it. The museum is incredible, but can’t be seen even in a weekend during non-Covid times - it’s long, and mainly walking through tunnel like mazes all breathing the same air as more then 100 other people

When we took a Fredericksburg tour, the guide told us you could ‘spend five or six hours’ at this museum. I thought that sounded a little exaggerated....until we went there. Entire complex is very large and impressive. Exhibits are super informative and wide ranging. If you are a history buff this place will make you feel right at home. The museum is actually three separate structures. So I planned it right after lunch, everyone should be fed and happy, at least for an hour or 2. Turns out everyone LOVED IT! My girls learned so much and loved the interactive parts of the exhibits. The video footage and sound bites bring the whole place to life. But dont just stop at the Museum, take a walk through the memorial garden, see all of the brave people who gave us the freedom we enjoy today. An unexpected gem! I remember visiting this place when it was just the General Nimitz museum when I was a kid (20+ years ago), and recall that it was interesting, but pretty small and mostly only about Nimitz. Since then, theyve added a huge museum complex that I would normally expect to find in a major city, like Dallas or Houston. I was shocked at how large it was. We spent almost three hours going through all the exhibits. It had lots of videos, interactive displays and original tech from the era, like jeeps, boats, planes and even a submarine from Pearl Harbor. This was the first time for my two nine year olds to go to a history museum (besides the Bob Bullock in Austin) and they had a blast while learning a lot about our nations history. The museum also has a replica Japanese memorial garden and about two blocks over, they have an area called the Pacific Combat Zone that had a large Bomber plane and a full size boat. They apparently also have battle reenactments in an amphitheater located there. During this visit, the original museum for General Nimitz was closed for renovations, but no big deal, since there was so much else to see. Highly recommend this museum if you like WWII history.

Firstly, the staff are excellent, helpful and happy to please. The museum is an incredible account of the Pacific war. A brilliant melding of multimedia, story boards, static displays and artifacts tell the story in chronologic order. There is sufficient overlap of content between these media that you will find yourself rewarded for being able to recall events hours later as you piece together the flow of the war. Another exceptional detail is the timeline from the European theatre that is presented in parallel. This on story boards reliably located above the concurrent Pacific war content. The story told invites intense concentration that can be exhausting. I found that after five hours a break was needed. The museum planners no doubt had this in mind when they made the admission pass good for forty eight hours. I walked a few blocks away to one of many eateries and caught my second wind. There are a number of displays located across several buildings on two blocks. On my pace it took approximately 12 hours to explore the entire museum. If you know a veteran who served in the Pacific, visit this place to have some perspective of what they went through. I regret that I did not until after he passed away. Our conversations would have been enriched for having a visual context. The National Museum of the Pacific War is a shining star in one of the most beautiful places in Texas. It is a must see.

An amazing museum. We were there for 4 hours and we needed more time because of the richness in content and exhibitions. They have a complimentary audio guide that gives a deeper understanding of the panels, artifacts and displays. The ticket is valid for 48 hours because the staff knows that the museum (3 buildings and over 50+ sections) needs some time to be explored completely. The staff is very friendly and will be glad to answer your questions regarding the museum, the history, or the different exhibitions they have. Definitely plan a complete day for this if you like history.

Wow! What an incredible museum. So many amazing artifacts, personal accounts, interactive displays and well explained battle diagrams. Some of the artifacts: the Japanese mini sub that washed up on Bellows Beach on Dec 7, a door from the Arizona, an actual atomic bomb, a piece of a fugo bomb.... so much! The battle diagrams were perhaps my favorite; they did an excellent job explaining the significance of specific unit moves or the battles, dependent on each battle. It took us two afternoons to go through the museum with two elementary aged kids. Thankfully, a docent came through asking us if we had any questions, explained a few unique items and stated we were at the mid-way point of the museum- that was our cue to come back the next day. We had great interactions with all the docents we came in contact with. The tickets are good for 24 hours and include 3 sites. The Nimitz portion of the museum was unfortunately closed while we visited. If you home school, or are taking children the museum website offers several questionnaires and curriculum based different grades and topics. The questionnaires requires some manipulation and must be printed at home, but worked out well for my 2nd and 4th grader. We used the 4th grade curriculum focused on Texans contribution to the war along with questions from several other curriculum. I do wish the museum had a more generic scavenger hunt that would engage the children throughout the whole museum, as the online curriculum tended to focus on one portion of the museum and many were focused on JR/SR High. Regardless, my children greatly enjoyed the museum. The museum has an excellent gift shop and can be accessed without the need to purchase a ticket. Be sure to visit the annexes to see a PT boat and learn about live on a carrier.

Unfortunately, we were disappointed with some of the Museum staff. My husband and I spent a weekend in Fredericksburg recently and we decided to visit the Museum after it was highly recommended. I understand that necessary restrictions have been put into place due to COVID-19. But, when we arrived at the Museum around 9:00 a.m. there were no signs posted that they were taking online reservations only. We went inside and we were greeted by a very nice gentleman who told us about some of the great things the Museum has to offer. There were no other customers in the ticket area except for my husband and I. When we approached the counter area, there were three ladies who ruined any positive impression that I had of the Museum. No one would make eye contact with us and we were told rudely that only online reservations were being accepted and they would not be able to take us until 1:30 pm anyway. The whole situation upsets me greatly due to the fact that my Father was a Veteran from World War II who served in the Pacific. The Museum is beautiful and I am sure that the tour is great but we were treated rudely by the women who were working at the ticket counter. Thank you to the gentleman who was greeting visitors who entered the building.
