One of the best museums around. (The other is the WW2 museum in Fredericksburg- amazing!!) Authentic, hands on history of the German settlers who brought their families and culture to the wilds of the Texas hill country in the years following Texas independence. You can thank them for accordions in Tejano music and the delicious sausage you’ll find in every BBQ plate in the state. Don’t miss this charming stop for a taste of Texas.

Learn how Texas was settled starting in the historic town of Fredericksburg. Youll find antiques, heirlooms and authentic German Architecture. Its a quicker tour than the Pacific War Museum but a great way to start your tour of the city.

Great outdoor history museum. It was really hot, but it was some shaded areas and they gave us a paper fan There is a very informative video, all very traditional and well maintained. The store is super cute and I bought A Peach goat milk lotion that I love!! The smell is amazing and great to the touch.

Very interesting and educational. I enjoy history so this was up my alley. Very nice layout. Only disappointment was it was hard to maneuver around in crushed granite with a wheelchair and I couldnt get in to see alot but they did give me a discount before we started and made us aware. My husband had to push me because it was too hard on my own. I will love to come back and tour this place again when I am on my feet.

This is a cheap spot to stop by and learn how people lived back in the time that the Germans settled in this area. The video is a great place to start to give you a great idea of the area and time before you explore the rest of the grounds. All of the people there were very knowledgeable. The last working the counter interacted with our kids very well. Even taught them some German! Its not a must see but it is still a fun and informative stop for a pretty cheap price. Its a good starting point for your Fredricksberg trip.

This is a delightful little museum where you get to walk around the grounds and explore inside the buildings of 1800s German pioneers. There are glass displays and/or furniture inside, and some have audio commentary that activates on sensor. The woman at the info booth was incredibly informative. There is also a decent-sized gift shop and clean restrooms. I spent about 1 to 1.5 hours here and its well-worth the ticket price. If you dont want to pay the admission you still have access to the main building which has one small exhibit room and the gift shop/restrooms.

So much fun, and only $7.50 for adults. Very informative, and each historic building has audio about the home/building read aloud by actual descendents of the settlers who once lived there. The recordings start when you enter each building. Learned a lot! We were there for a little over 1.5 hours, but couldve easily stretched it to two. If youre in the area, DO IT!!
