Nice area for skateboarding. Has some nice ramps. One ramp needs a little work to it but otherwise great. My kids could spend hours skating here!

Very clean. Dog park is totally fenced and easily accessible.

So I guess I should’ve taken time to read the Google reviews before I visited. My wife and I were coming in from out of town with small children and wanted a fun outdoor place to have a picnic after grabbing to go food on McLeod Boulevard. We got there, and the only picnic table in sight had trash all around it and it looked like lots of illegal activity had taken place on the playground. It was very sketchy so much that we left and just parked in some grass up by the road. There was also a lot of teenage riffraff playing loud obnoxious music and driving recklessly through the parking lot. I did see one deputy drive through when we first arrived. It’s a shame that the city would let this thing get to be this bad. Definitely the most most dangerous place I’ve felt with my kids in a while. Next time we will just sit in the Chick-fil-A parking lot and try not to get hit by a car.

A place definitely not safe for children on the playground area. The bathroom was definitely not usable and riddled with gang graffiti. The playground was missing a slide which leaves a gaping hole for children to fall off.

The childrens playground is destroyed. No slide, swings or anything for a child to play on. The restroom is full of drug needles and graffiti.. they are inoperable and the doors have been kicked in.And the trail is destroyed as well. There are fallen trees. No way to walk the trail.

The dog park is under construction . You can use it but keep on eye on your pet as its not 100% secure.

Unless you are playing an organized sport or using the skate park this park is worthless. All the shaded areas and the dog park are unkept and/or vandalized.

To me it was a really good park because everyone there was nice and also there was no little kids on scooters getting into ur way.

Not well cared for, especially the dog park which a sign says will be replaced.

The playground needs to be remodeled. The bathrooms were terrible and non usable. It is a beautiful area though.

Really needs to be cleaned up and revamped. The skatepark could use some updating. The lake would be nice if they actually cleaned it and took care of it, too. A lot of potential, but unfortunately just more proof our tax dollars and funding goes to other things.

Worn down and disgusting

On our way across the state on a family road trip for the holidays. Needed a place to let the dogs stretch their legs so searched for dog park near me and this park was the highest rated option without going more than 20 miles out of our way.I should have paid less attention to the description and overall rating, and more attention to the other reviews.The dog park is indeed closed.The entrance is chained and padlocked shut with caution tape and a dire warning that the empty riverbed is like quicksand.We explored the rest of the park with our dogs, as they still needed to potty after coming so far.My general impression of the rest of the park is that although this was in the off season, the park has probably not been well maintained for quite some time.In addition to the completely defunct dog park, there is graffiti, broken benches and fences, potholes in the roads, dog poop all over the place especially in the horseshoes pitch, and much more all giving a very derelict feeling to what was once a very nice park based on the description and the photos.On the plus side, there is an awesome skateboard park, and several well maintained baseball diamonds, but when contrasted with the rest of the park, it looks like these are the only places that any monies has been spent in maintenance.I hope that my impression as an outsider is wrong, and that the park is an amazing resource for the local community. However I will look elsewhere next time I need to look for a dog park when driving through the state.

Really like the place but can we please update the skate park.Please donate to get it rebuilt.

Its gotten worse, over the years...

McLeod Park is a great place to play baseball,softball,football,or soccer. They also have a skate park w/ ramps and several places to play horseshoes. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is bc the dog park is in bad shape.

A very good place for kids to be free with a playground , basketball court , skate park and baseball do much fun

Needs some TLC and upgrades. Im not sure what is up with the City of Florence Parks and Recreation department, but they have let this park become extremely run down and in some cases dangerous. The dog park is closed due to a dam break, and no repair appears to be on the horizon. Playground equipment and other areas of the park are in disrepair, and frankly look bad. Judging by the other parks in Florence, this is becoming more the standard than the outlier. Its a shame.

The dog park still stands, it does not appear to be maintained at all. The pond is completely washed up. My dog and I are new to town and are the only ones here at 6:24pm on a Thursday afternoon! The upside is that she can frolic around off leash, but I wish she had some pup friends to play with!

Need to up grade . Need facilities . This was a great park to be in Florence now its a lost place replace by a bike and skate board park . Which had public swimming pool. I will not return to no place to grill out and just enjoy an afternoon.

I personally like a smaller hospital because you have more one-on-one and more caring treatment but McLeod and so huge theres no way you can get personalized treatment and still feel like someopinion. still feel that your care for or needed properly thats just my opinion.

Dog park is amazing! I travel for work and have an 80lb German Shepherd. We travel in an RV, so I love to get him exercise in dog parks wherever I go. This has been the best experience I have had yet!The regulars here were super friendly and accommodating. When you have a large dog, it is often hard to find people who arent afraid of rough play. But they were true dog people and welcomed us with no reservation. Kane had an amazing time.Came back the next day to sit at the picnic table and do some work while Kane explores. Hes anxiously awaiting the arrival of some friends.Its aesthetically rugged with a decent sized pond, sloped ground, and some brush. Perfect for exploring and playing. Not the same old boring flat grass rectangle you get at most places. Its fantastic!Ive read reviews about the downed trees and issues it had after the hurricane, but its all been fixed and cleaned now.

UPDATE: Dog park is permanently closed. So sad, because it was one of our favorite places!The dog park is a lot nicer than I was expecting. The map took me to the baseball fields, so I was super confused about where the dog park is actually located. You actually go left at the fork and then right at the stop-sign. Theres a pond for swimming and lots of space for them to run. My dogs really enjoyed it!

At this park you have a nature trail and a hiking trail that you can hike up around towards the water tower into a residential neighborhood back down and all the way around in the woods soon its just a lovely its just excellent for a great morning walk

Doesn’t look like the photos it’s overgrown and the water is filthy. It doesn’t look like it’s maintained looks more like it’s been forgotten. Florence must have forgotten a dog park will bring people to the area also.

Spacious, clean , could use some updating

Kept clean and has diverse crowds.

Just visited for the first time - went to take the kids fishing but the pond is drained. The park is overall quite dilapidated and needs upgrading and maintenance.

They need to work on fixing the dog park back or something.... Theres nowhere to take your dogs to run in florence.

Good to play baseball amazing fields

The dog park was somewhat difficult to find: the park is laid out on a horseshoe shaped road & its on the north east end. Once we found it, it was excellent: huge, well-kept, with pond access. Parking right next to the entrance.

The dam broke, so the pond is gone. Since the pond served as a natural barrier for one side of the dog park (no fence on that side), there is no more dog park now.

My fur baby says he loved the dog park!

No pond or objects for dogs to play with. No water fountain or poop bags.

This park is patrol by police officers, its pretty much clean & my son loves the skateboarding area.

Can be a little rowdy at times, but otherwise nice.

Need more lighting outside and more police around.

I am very disappointed at the condition of this park. For the park to bear the McLeod name, it is the worst park in Florence! The playground is dangerous for the children to play on...the pond is trashy with merky water...there is only one park bench and one picnic table sitting on a scary shed! Everything needs an upgrade!

I love taking my puppy out there, but after Hurricane Matthew I couldnt anymore too many trees were down. And I didnt know if I was allowed to walk her anywhere else.

I took my dog to the dog park and she got out. This is completely unacceptable. There is obviously a hole in the fence somewhere. I would not recommend this dog park to anyone...

I love this skate park its a straight drive from my house. I just wish there were more bmxers in florence.

Needs to be shut down

Not the nices ball fiekds but lots of memories are made here from Tball uo through pony krague. Also boasts a nice skate park, horse shoe courts, several basketball courts and a pond with dedicated dog area.

McLeod Skate Park was great, but needs repairing.

Beautiful walkways and lots of options for activities.

Used to have one of the best skateparks around for hundreds of miles, but they tore it down and put a bunch of bs stuff out there. Not even worth the drive to go there, head up to Hampstead in NC.

Contrary to what google maps implies, there is no dog park here. Although a nice setting, park appears to be in disrepair. Bathrooms closed and locked mid day Saturday. No one else even in the park
