Accidentally stumbled upon this hidden gem. Was our best walking experience in Alaska. Very beautiful and well kept. We did walk off the path accidentally and discovered bear droppings so we turned around real quickly. The park was much bigger than we had expected walking in to it. Would love to go back when we had more time to enjoy it.
Nice easy trail. Well maintained. Good displays approx 1.5 mile if you include lake loop
Peregrine Falcons - Falco peregrinus tundrius, described by C.M. White in 1968, was at one time included in leucogenys. It is found in the Arctic tundra of North America to Greenland, and migrates to wintering grounds in Central and South America.
Beautiful, safe place to take a little stroll with family or even alone. The trails are made of compact rocks and are very well maintained. I went during the fall on a beautiful sunny day. Ive never heard of a wheelchair safe trail, but on days like this you could definitely take a wheelchair if your heart desired.Unfortunately they do not allow dogs on the trail, but maybe you could dress your dog as grandma and cart him around in the wheelchair. I dunno.I loved the tons of signs telling all sorts of facts about the wildlife and there was never a moment where I feared I was lost or had to wonder how long the trail was.The only thing that gave me a little bit of a hard time was finding the trail entrance. When you enter the resort just stick to the main little road and follow the signs to the car museum entrance. You can park here. There is a little trail between the car museum and the woods that leads you directly to the trail head. The Wildlife Sanctuary was beautiful and relaxing and something I can see myself visiting very often. Hope you get a chance to enjoy it soon as well!
Very cool place for a hike! And free! Bring bugspray, the mosquitos are insane
Gorgeous winter path.
Beautiful little park, but two words: Mosquito. Repellent.
Always a great place to be free..
It’s a beautiful reserve, but hard to go to in July / we months because you’ll get eaten alive by mosquitos!
Nicely done trails. Very flat, short, and easy. Really neat blind for birdwatching. Really thick brush, so dont expect to see much of the lake. This is a wildlife sanctuary, so leaving the trail is completely off limits.
Pretty nice stroll through the woods.
Great trail. Scenic.
A few good walking trails over here
This is a real nice running and walking soft hiking path in town. They have Lake back there at which has a little building near the lake, where you can get up close and watch the birds with some camouflage sometimes you do see an occasional moose its next to creamers field walking hiking path very peaceful for being so close to Fairbanks I recommend this place if you need to go for a walk or get away from everything I feel safe from wildlife when I do go back there
Seems nice, didn’t get a chance to go on it. I looked the place up online and after looking at some photos I saw, thought I’d try it out and bring my trusty companion with me to give it a shot. I arrived on scene only then to figure out dogs weren’t allowed. No where on the site or when looking then up did I realize this was a no dog walking trail. Only after seeing the post with a sign did I realize. I may have not looked in the right spot, or the note is small and hard to find, but I did not know this was a non-walking dog place until getting there. A note or some sort of evident indication should be added/made online to help avoid future people who unknowingly bring their companions to be turned around at the trail head to look for other possibilities.
Very quaint. Lots of mosquitoes. Love the self guided walk and the bird viewing building at the end.
I was here in the winter, so not very many animals. However, it was a beautiful place. I would definitely come back here again!
Secluded and very quite! Great place to see wildlife!
If you wedged a wood into a wildlife sanctuary this would be it! But seriously, its a great place to visit when visiting Fairbanks. Theres lots of wildlife for those that has a quiet step and a good eye many species of mammal and fowl can be found on a typical night out
This is a nice place in Fairbanks to take a walk along trails. It is a flat set of trails. You walk through the forest & around Wander Lake. The trails are wheelchair accessible. Your access point is from Wedgewood Resort. There is a trail map provided which is very easy to follow with key places in the Sanctuary & the adjacent Wedgewood Resort clearly marked. You can complete the easy walk in 30-60 minutes. This is a good place to kill some time before flying out of Fairbanks.
Really love this place because is beautiful. But I was the only one there for a reason. The mosquitos are terrible. They will swarm you and attack you. Can barely stop to take a picture.
Nice little park mostly waterfall but signs of moose a fun way to spend some time outdoors.
Well maintained, and beautiful area. The scenery is glorious!
Lived close to here for a little while and thoroughly enjoyed the closeness so we could appreciate the beautiful surroundings. Seemed we found new and wonderful things along the trails each time.
I feel like this is a little hidden gem in Fairbanks! Not a lot of people talk about it and its not on very many websites as the touristy thing to do. Its a cute little walking trail through some forest and around a lake. We wore mosquito wrist bands and didnt get bit at all. We saw many different bird species and even a few rabbits. There are some great shots for taking scenic pictures as well. The trail is easy but good exercise!
Beautiful scenery not sure about winter but in summer which strongly go back if you play Pokemon go a few stops are here as well
Perfect for light hiking. As we visited that place in winter, we couldnt see too much wildlife. Only two squirrels and a little
Nice area to walk in the summer. If you want a place to ski or snowshoe, Im sure its great for that in the winter too. Hooks into other trails in the larger Creamers Field network, so the trails can go a very long ways. If you arent careful you can go several miles without realizing it.
Very informative signs. Beautiful. Lots and lots of mosquitos.
Nice walk around the lake. Not as interesting as Creamers.
I love it, people is really nice and the view is beautiful
Plenty of moose poop but no moose. Did see a bunch of ducks though.
Great laid back place to take a walk or just watch the birds. Many trails through the trees. Dogs on leashes are welcome. Bring your bug dope!
Really loved walking the trails, such a beautiful place.
Beautiful place!
The food excellent here
Its gorgeous
Beautiful day to get married!!!
Had never been here before but its a nice little get-away and is really peaceful.
Its not huge but the paths are well kept. Ive seen moose, beaver, grouse, geese, duck, fox, and more on them. Certainly good for walking, running, and photography. I wouldnt call it a hike though.
Trailhead a bit harder to locate, which is next to the antique car museum.
Peaceful place
Nice nature walk.
A great little nature walk.
Wonderfully maintained
Beautiful
