It was such a pleasure meeting Tekla and seeing all the wonderful pups. She really took the time to explaining the care of the dogs. 44 loud and excited, wanting to play dogs :) then she explained how the dogs are lined up behind the sled and we started to hook them up. Then they really got excited, like LET ME GO, LET ME GO>>> lol Then her father came out, and with them hooked up to a 4-runner ATV ( Minus an engine, since the pups are the engine LOL Then went off for a couple mile run. When they got back we un-hooked them and off into the river they went to cool off. Then it was feeding time. . If you are ever in the fairbanks area, You have to call the trail breaker kennel and go visit these outstanding animals. Plus, if your lucky enough to get Tekla to be your guide, you will be in for a great time!!

Amazing community of people here at TBK, well worth the visit and so much to learn from the people who work here. The dogs are beautiful and amazing athletes each with their own personality. If you love dogs and want to learn about the history and culture of mushing this is the place to be! Make sure you ask lots of questions when you go! The guides are always happy to answer them with such enthusiasm and personal knowledge and experience about the great sport of mushing!

Absolutely wonderful experience! We did the kennel tour and loved it. Christine is very knowledgeable and patient with our questions. So much fun facts about the dogs and how this kennel is ran. The dogs are super adorable and intelligent too. Just dont use Google maps because you will end up on the other side of the river… follow the instructions in your email after booking with them.

So awesome! Susan Butchers Kennels, continuing her mission. Her daughter explained many things about the dogs, the kennel, and how they would survive the 1000 miles of the Iditarod. The dogs were pretty much hams!

Coming from Australia and knowing nothing about sled dogs, this experience was absolutely beautiful and enlightening for us. The adult dogs love people and if there are puppies there, its heaven.Totally recommend it.

Being from the Midwest I knew absolutely nothing about mushing. After taking this tour Im a lot more educated and look forward to following the sport. Its always nice when you get a tour from someone who is passionate about their sport. Kailyn was able to explain the most basic questions to the most advanced with answers that were easy for the entire audience to understand (8yo kids to 70yo grandmothers). This was one of the most interesting tours we took on our 16 day journey of Alaska. If you are looking for souvenirs, their gift shop is super affordable!

This is a double firstFirst time in Alaska, first time to ever visit a kennel. Was very impressed with the cleanliness of the kennel, was very impressed with the kennel managers knowledge and relationship with the dogs. It is nice to get a tour from a very knowledgeable person that has a stake in the business. I didnt expect to come away from the visit with so much information. Every question that was asked was answered in detail. I feel like I was given enough information that I could step in and start helping with the dogs. Hats off to them for a great tour.
