Full of potential, the plaza surrounding the Unknown First Family statue seems to be abandoned and ignored by the city. With some updates and cleaning this could be a really impactful, educational space thant honors the real founders of the area. Loved the first family statue, but it felt weird to honor the exploitation of minerals from the land in plaques beneath the statue. Id recommend stopping if already downtown.

Beautiful huge statue there infront of the Chena River. Other statues in the area as well. A nice park to walk in if you want to go down town. I wear there on a very snowy day so it was nice to walk and take pics. The ww2 statue is there and the antler arch. Big tower there as well that plays a nice tune every 30 mins.

Another downtown must visit! This plaza is the place to view the river, explore the history and even to visit the log cabin that currently is the home for Yukon Quest sled dog 1000mi. race. It is the endpoint of the Rubber Ducky race at Goldendays festival. Venders use the plaza for many events thru out the year. The statue of the Alaskan Family in the center is surrounded by placks of interesting historical tidbits and important time line events and the people who started and kept Fairbanks running. Enjoy.

A beautiful place to see when visiting Fairbanks, and its connected to other trails that follow the Chenna River in either direction. If you like hot dogs and/or sausage find the guy at Husky Hot Dogs. He has cheap and yummy reindeer and salmon hot dogs that he sets up right in front of the fountain.

Great park to wander around in. It was spring time when I was there so the fountain was not up and running. Spent an hour or more wandering around there reading the signs. The visitors center wasnt open yet but it looks like a neat place. The only issue was there were a number of guys hanging around who had partied a bit to hard the night before. They left me alone after I told them I didnt have any change to give them.

One of our last stops in Alaska and this place was not good, the area has a lot of graffiti, a lot of homeless and a lot of people just walking down the street screaming at themselves. Do not waste your time stopping by this area. Only place worth visiting in Fairbanks that we found was the Visitor Center and even there we found homeless bathing in the bathrooms

Absolutely gorgeous im sure i would of really loved to stay there, me and my wife spent about 5 minutes there and then all the local homeless started cat calling her and walking over asking for money to get drinks it felt like an ambush everywhere we walked they would stare and yell we ended up rushing back to the car and drove off
