Beautiful March 1 day on the Pump Station Trail along the Eno River in Durham. Great trail for wildflowers.

Very fun! Definitely exhausting, in a good way, if you do the whole thing. Took us 2.5 hours and we took a lot of breaks to look at bugs.

The weather is partly cloudy,and there is few people walking here！But you can enjoy your time in the forest.

Roadside parking only, just before the bridge. The trailhead is off a gravel road, down a hill, and theres no designated place for parking, so its a little easy to miss. Usually not too crowded, the trail is an easy 25min loop (faster if you hustle), nice and even terrain most of the way.

Wonderful place, been walking there for many years. Side note: Hurricane Florence destroyed the bridge across the creek. The before was only a couple days before the storm. After shows the I-beams all bent and twisted.

Fun little hike had it all: physical history, a creek running alongside the trail, and a great view of the ruins up close on the trail or from the river (which can be easily crossed at most times.)

Love this trail! And have enjoyed helping the Friends of the MTS Trail replace the bridge that washed out from last years flooding. Though I wish we didnt have to do so much trash claenup from people littering. It is neat to see the old pump station and other structures still standing along this beautiful trail that hugs the Eno river.

Great easy hiking trail. The majority of the 1.5 mile loop is rather flat.The loop starts at one entrance and ends at the other entrance. You have to walk a short distance down the dirt road to get back to the entrance you parked at.

This is our most walked part of the Eno River trails, as a family. Not only because it is close to our home, but because it is beautiful here! The history behind the old pump station is interesting and if you dont know it, I recommend looking it up before going. It also provides a great educational experience or talking oppurtunity with children of all ages. Some of the wildlife we have seen along the End River especially on this part of the river and trail, has been our favorite and most memorable. Its a great place to take your dog. In fact if I happen to pass any people at all on the trail, they often have their dogs. My dog loves it! You can easily get down to the river from this access point. Not as easy as some others, but it provides a nice short hike that satisfy smaller children and allow for their reward to be the river! Such a beautiful point on the river at that! I like to go here indepently and just relax, take pics, or meditate. I find people along the river with set up hammocks, rocking the day away in the gentle breezes. I will say the only downfall, as with a lot of trails or other places, in this area, is that if we get a bit of rainfall all at once, there are some parts that easily get very muddy and I would plan your shoes accordingly. Anyway, happy trails!

The best access to the Eno River. My favorite trail for walking dogs. Beautiful large pine and some hardwoods line the trail on either side at the lower access entry path. A small creek runs parallel for the initial section of trail. This trail connects to others (which may be viewed on map). Parking is either for upper trail or lower after crossing bridge from Cole Mill side. Keep in mind, no parking lot available for the Pump Station Trail. Lower entrance is the most common for non dog walkers as the trail is narrow. Upper is preferred for large dog owners, runners and those who prefer wider entrance that leads down to Eno River/ Cole mill trails or Catherine Dunagan trail-see hardy uphill hike-allow 2 hours minimum. Beautiful remains of Dunagan family homestead atop the crest of hill, including Catherines 1860 Tombstone.
