I hadnt been here in 25 years. We were without the kids for a couple of days and we came up to ski a larger hill than what we had around home. We have our own equipment so we didnt rent. We love evening skiing and Spirit didnt dissappoint! The runs were well groomed and not crowded. I had a good time interacting with some of the other customers while we rode the lifts. The staff was more than helpful as well. My only negative had to do with the burger and fries we ordered. They were cold. We would like to bring our kids back if given the opportunity.

Spirit Mountain Recreation Park has a lot to offer. Alpine roller coaster, zip line ride, mountain biking, hiking, mini golf and more. With an unlimited all day pass you can have a full day of family fun! The alpine coaster is a gravity ride where you control the speed. After the ride down (as fast as you can of course) you have an enjoyable ride back to the top of the mountain. Put Duluth MN on your places to visit and go spend a day at Spirit Mountain. You can come in the winter also and get in some good skiing!

Good for family sking. Altgough once you have moderate skills you will find it boring after few hours. Main lift works well and fast, not much of a lines even over the weekends. No option for kids to ski free as a family ticket... so pricing not that attractive but good pkace for a weekend away. Duluth itself is great place!

I learned to ski here 20+ years ago, before moving to Colorado. I enjoyed my recent visit on a trip back. It’s close by with few lift lines, fast rentals and the ticket plus rental skis were only $50. I recommend advance purchase to secure the best rates. I wouldn’t be willing to pay the $80+ required on the busier days. Additionally, the black diamond runs here would be a blue run at any Colorado resort, so manage your expectations accordingly.

My son has lots of fun at Spirit Mt. On his snowboard. Usually a pleasant atmosphere, but I often hear some loud profanity at the upper obstacle run by the upper chalet, especially in the evening. Id think with some minimal effort by the staff to give some friendly warnings, it could be cut down a little.Otherwise Spirit Mt is a good experienc, with friendly staff

Yesterday we got 18 inches of snow. Spirit Mountain is closed today to groom their runs. Just let us have a pow day, eh?Edit: The other ski areas with same amount of snowfall were open. Use some of the tax money the city gives you to invest in a snow plow for your drive way and not your ski hill maybe?

The runs are quite fun and long for Midwest skiing, but their lift operations is less than to be desired. They typically do not have anyone directing at the bottom so it a large mess of unorganized chaos. Additionally their lift operators dont break up the ice at the lift exit or entrance leaving to constant lift stoppages and hurt customers. We sat at the top of the hill watching the lift and at least 2 or 3 chairs out of 10 would have someone fall due to the ice.

Most ski places either have good food or good skiing, Spirit Mt has managed to have neither. Hadnt been there for 30yrs, runs are now ehh at best. The food is so horrid, the burned hamburgers should have NHL stamped on them they are so black and hard. I can see why they are going under, Duluth made a mistake giving them money to stay open. The worst part was I took my beginner wife along, she was stuck on the one and only hill she could get to as the chairlifts that might take her to a little better place were closed. Wont be back.

Only did the Alpine Coaster and the Zip Line. The Alpine Coaster is pretty sweet. The ride is long enough to be happy and satisfied. The Zip Line is cool, and worth the try once. I wouldnt try it again after experiencing it. Its not bad, rather cool. But the price vs. experience is not worth it. But do try it once. Overall, good experience at Spirit Mountain.

It’s ok. They could use a boost of employee morale, and sometimes they have certain runs closed for no reason. Good runs for Minnesota, but they really lost my respect when they duped the city of Duluth into bailing them out financially.

We camped at Spirit mountain for 2 nights, the camp ground seemed clean and well maintained. Obviously a very popular place because we just showed up last minute and the campground was full, so plan ahead if you want a site! However they had field tenting you can just walk into and throw up your tent on a first come first serve basis. This worked just fine for us as we werent even at our site much, with how much there is to do around Duluth. And We were also still able to have a fire at night with the scattered fire pits around the field.

Spirit mountain generally has a good employee atmosphere. The chalets are clean unless a bunch of teenage kids come by and leave all their trash behind. I snowboard here every season and purchase the winter season pass, it is an incredible deal and pays off after only 4 days. I highly appreciate the work the crew does with the terrain parks and jumps, and they seem to work hard to get things open as soon as possible. However the food (except the fries) is subpar and overly expensive. I mean $3 for a pop with no refills? But I dont come for the food, I come for the snow and the jumps witch are almost always top notch

Went with my family after 4th of July (wednesday) just to try out the Alpine coaster. We went there at 11AM when they open and already had to wait in line for 15-20 min. We couldnt imagine how crowded it would be during holidays and weekends. The ride was so much fun! Paid $16 for 2-person ride. The chairlyft is one thing we wanted to try as well but it only opens on certain days of the week. We didnt do the zipline because it was too short and doesnt seem to be worth the money. The minigolf doesnt look really fun either.

I rode the long adventure ride at the bike festival and then watched the downhill race. While watching, I developed symptoms of dehydration. Jim, a member of the bike patrol took care of me by giving me Gatorade and giving me a ride to the top of the hill. There he turned me over to Leann, and the other awesome workers at the adventure park. They took great care of me until I felt better. Very humbling, but very nice to know there are such nice people so happy to help someone in trouble. I will definitely be back. Two thumbs way up.PS for Leann - I made it home safely.

Very disaponted today. We drove up from St. Paul planning to go skiing. It never occurred to me the hill would be closing early today. They said they were closing at 5:00. They said it was due the cold temps. Its 11 degrees right now at the bottom of the hill and it was 5 degrees at the top when we arrived at 3:00. This is Minnesota people and skiing is a winter sport. It wasnt windy and it didnt feel as cold at all. We did not ski by the time we would have gotten our rental gear and out on the slopes we would have had about 1.5 hrs to ski. Part of the joy of Spirit Mountain is the beauty of night skiing. I lived in Duluth for almost 20 years, so I know the hill and Its history. Its management remains its own worst enemy.

The alpine slide was amazing! The twists, turns, ups and downs make this a fun ride for thrill seekers. The food and drinks are a bit overpriced but thats expected at every resort. They also have great activities year round like skiing and snowboarding. Even if youve never tried those activities, they provide quick lessons for beginners or staff that are available to answer questions or concerns. The hotel prices are extremely high in the summer but most hotels are in Duluth during the summer season.

Ok, so we showed up during the week without a reservation. They had an opening, so great. The campground itself was nice, very few flying bugs. Shower/bathroom facility was a adequate, nothing fancy. The only issue we had was after checking in, the office people were hard to find to be able to purchase wood, which compared to a state park, is well priced I thought. Even the next day, the office was closed a lot, and they provide you a phone number to call when the office is closed, but no one ever answers., though eventually someone called us back. Overall though, because of the location, I would recommend this campground. As a bonus, you get a discount at the adventure park near by, which I found enjoyable.

Great place to stay and ski. Mountain Villas is right at the top of the ski hill and also next to the cross country trail and they have 2 bedrooms so 2 couples can share the cost. Very nice and clean. (I see some other reviews complaining about a hotel but thats the Spirit Mountain Best Value Inn across the freeway, not even on Spirit Mt.) From Mountain Villas, we just ski down to the chalet, buy stay & play discounted tickets, ski, and at the end of the day take a lift up to where we can ski or walk back to the villa. They have some long easy hills, some steep windy narrow hills, a really nice new lift last year in addition to all the other lifts, and the runs are much longer than any by the Twin Cities. Worth the drive!

I cant speak much for anything here but the Alpine Coaster. The Alpine coaster is one of the most things you can do in Duluth. You basically sit in a cart that you control the speed of and ride down the rails down the mountain. You can go as fast as you want and you wont fall of the rails. The view going down is beautiful and its a thrilling ride to the bottom. They post coupons occasionally, so make sure you look for them before you go for discounted ride tickets. They are closed on Tuesday for some reason, so dont plan on going Tuesday.

Not good for the price. Came on a monday morning and paid $220 for 5 ppl to stand in line. Stood in line for over an hour to go on the coaster. Stood in line for another half hour to go on the zip line. You have to walk to the top of the hill to go on the ski lift? Whats that all about? The mini golf is a joke and you have to rent a disk for the disk golf. My boy said the jumping pillow was hot and i also heard other kids saying it was hot ( its in direct sunlight). We have been here for well over 2 hours and have only gone on two rides. I am sitting in the snack hut with our baby, while the rest of the family is hiking to the top of the hill for the chair lift. If you are rich and have time to stand around i would recommend this place. If not, stay far far away.
