Seems like a pretty nice rest area. Very nice views of Duluth and surrounding rivers. You can see into Wisconsin from the view spots. Facility seemed clean. However, the drinking fountains are closed currently due to COVID-19. Nice outdoor seating spots and good shade. Theres a dog area as well and am interesting sculpture and plaques with Minnesota historical tidbits on them.
,Had a great stop here on vacation. Ran into a friend from Minneapolis on random chance in the parking lot. Was charging my phone in the lobby and was greeted by JEFF the front desk attendant. He was very polite, helpful and we shared a few minute conversation. He is a great asset to this center. Clean restrooms and outside area.peaceful place at night to rest if tired from travelling.
Of all the rest areas across the country I’ve stayed at, this is on the top 5 list. The bathrooms are incredibly clean, great views, nice packets of things to do in the area and very safe feeling. Definitely recommend.
Great place to stop and gather information not just for Duluth area, but for dozens of awesome Minnesota travel adventures. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about various places and activities. We took lots of information to better plan our next adventures up north. I would highly recommend stopping here for the latest information and ideas for your next trip/activity.Rest area is well-maintained and clean. Also has vending machines, trails to stretch your legs, and places to picnic while enjoying an amazing view of Duluth.
The visitor center is opened. The restroom is very clean and mask is mandatory. The view from this area is spectacular. There is picnic table too.
Our favorite little stop as we roll into Duluth. Beautiful vistas, informative historical markers, stark sculpture ... this place has it all. Be sure to take a roll down the grassy hill; I promise youre not too old.
I love the Duluth view from here. This is a must stop on my visit to Duluth
Absolutely stunning view of Duluth and the port. Stunning.
There are the best views on Thompson Hill Rest stop@
Nice facilities and beautiful view.
Good place.Pro tip: just outside the rest stop, there is a small place on the shoulder of the access road where you can stop and overlook the bay. Great view!
During a winter storm, we stopped to walk our dogs and a man that was shoveling came up to us and grumbled out “make sure you clean up your mess.” Older man with a beard— minnesota nice? Not!
In all our travels never have we learned so much about an area, and a whole state, than we did here yesterday. The charming ladies manning the desk knew so much about Minnesota that we adjusted our plans to stay longer and enjoy more. And were now heading to the headlands of the Mississippi River in Itasca, MN instead of Canada .The center was immaculately clean and the landscaping was lovely Thanks ladies.
Restroom is open during COVID times!
If you want great views of Duluth, this is a great spot. You can really see a lot from here. And it has a lot of travel info on other spots around the state.
This is a great place to rest and have a picnic. Head inside for a ton of information on things to do in the area and on the north shore. Beautiful view!
Nice rest area with great views
Nice place for people to visit here as world largest lake by surface area .
Beautiful view. Alternative to Enger Hill. Clean rest area, friendly service.
