An amazingly beautiful place to go out for riding bikes and walk. I was out for a walk there with a friend and we both absolutely loved it. I am not surprised this friend of mine has some serious plans to visit this place more often now (has even picked a spot to read books and have coffee every morning) !

Hartley is Duluths Central Park. The park is on the northern end of Woodland Ave...After a drive down a winding, narrow, road you pull into a horseshoe parking lot that leads to the nature-ctr bldg. There are picnic tables outside to enjoy a break after a hike. Several trails for hiking or biking. Going up Hartley Rd will lead you past a boardwalk trail to a dilapidated root cellar..unsafe to enter. Great time by the family. At a large pond there is a place to rent canoes...well worth the hike at the park.

The nature center has lots of great animals (mostly dead but some living) for kids to see. The preschool is phenomenal and the kids spend all day everyday outdoors! There are lots of hiking and mountain biking trails for adults and little boardwalks to hidden ponds and fallen trees for kids to climb. Hartley is a way to get away from it all but still be in the city!

Super awesome hiking trails. Highly recommend going to the rock Knob. You get a great view of all of the neature. Only complaint I have is the maps along the trail are kind of confusing to read, but Google Maps does a GREAT job of making out the major trails. Id suggest using that (we all had great phone reception, which was a big plus as well)

I love that there are places in the middle of Duluth, like Hartley, where I can get outside and be in the middle of the woods while also still being in the city. Hartley is gorgeous all season round with things to do like hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, and running. The Nature Center has events, camps and provides a place to go inside if need be. I enjoy coming here often and getting away by myself or connecting with friends.

I am specifically rating the bike park. The Nature center itself seemed quite nice. At first glimpse, these trails are beautiful, good hard pack dirt and gravel, smooth and easy climbing... But there are almost no hard corners!? There are probably two banks in the whole park... And if youre looking for something just a little bit harder, forget it. The blue square is a green circle and the black diamond is impossible. Go to Lester or Piedmont trails.

Had a great first visit at Hartley! I went as a teacher/chaperone with the First Graders from South Ridge School. This is a lovely Duluth park with many trails that take you past a river and pond that allows you to bring your own canoe, a few trails bring you to the top of a hill that allows you to look down on the surrounding terrain while also offering a small glimpse of Lake Superior! Overall, this is one of my most favorite parks in Duluth and well worth the visit!
