This is my first time here and me and my son really enjoyed the experience. We were able to ride a real train, get inside of some parked trains, and look at my son’s favorite the model train scenes. It looks like some exhibits were closed for whatever reason I’m assuming because of Covid.

Amazing value for the price of the ticket! The trains are very well kept and you really get taken back to a different time. The staff was great. My wife and I plan to come back once all of the exhibits open, some of them were closed because covid-19.

Georgia’s official Transportation Museum. More than just rail equipment in this 35 acre former rail facility. There are over 90 pieces of rolling stock, train rides and so much history. The original 1871 Duluth Depot is here hosing the Duluth Historical Society. Check the website for days and hours.train-Museum.org

This really is a hidden gem in Duluth. There is a surprisingly large collection of transit memorabilia and things to see, including an amazingly well preserved pullman luxury car with a ton of history behind it. The model train car was enthralling for the little one, and I think they have the most reasonably priced gift shop Ive ever been in. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and you can tell they have a deep love for their collection. I would definitely recommend this place if you are interested in history, trains, or live in Duluth. Also, theyve done a great job with COVID social distancing, we felt very comfortable.

The one-star review here posted yesterday was made by a person who was incensed that the free library pass she had was not going to be honored for a special events day. As is clearly stated on the museums website and on the pass itself, the free library pass is not good for special event days. She was informed of this during the multiple calls she made to the museum yesterday.SRM is a 50-year old non-profit entity, staffed almost entirely by volunteers. If anyone thinks keeping the bills paid for a museum in COVID-infected 2020 is easy, please think again. My opinion is that her review is nothing more than sour grapes. YMMV.

If your a big fan of railroad or RR history then this is the place to go. I went with my son, and we were able to walk on actual train cars and engines. There is also a small 15 minute train ride.

This place is typically a family favorite but I wouldnt go back now until virus has passed.. If you do go ttey do not post anywhere that you can no longer go on or walk on any of the trains or exhibits so there isnt much to do. They do charge a discounted price but for 10 a person they should still tell you that before hand.

Not just train engines and cars. Early automobiles, mid century buses, steam tractors, and more. Great for children and adults. In 2017 there is a fair amount that has been added for exhibits, vehicles, and a new shed. Many new things have been added in 2018 as well. Early 2019 added a more complete large diorama that is fantastic and took hundreds of hours to make.

Nice museum for kids and adults alike. The museum does not only have a large collection of trains and railroad memorabilia, but also has some buses and taxis on display. On most days, it is possible to take short rides in both a full-size and a miniature train. Good gift shop as well, including lots of train toys.

Fun for kids and adults. Lots of stuff to touch and climb and explore. Covered from rain but still dress warmly. Run by volunteers who all treat kids like loving grandparents. The extra $5 for the train ride is worth it. Fascinating history - Woodrow Wilsons presidential Pullman train car and Atlanta buses through the years that make you contemplate segregations impact. Theres lots of info & history on not just trains but the different parts to them, fire trucks, taxis, other public transportation and stations. You can get on them and really go back in time. If you take the time to read about the displays its easy to spend a few hours there. You can also get a free pass for four from the library.

We went on National Museum Day so it was free (outside of riding the train) and we had so much fun. Took my son here and he enjoyed himself. It was a little too hot for him at the end. They have a lot of antique trains, buses, and a few autos. If the little ones are into trains or buses this is the place to go. Volunteers help out a lot so check to make sure they are fully staffed the day you want to visit. This will ensure access to all the exhibits and rides. Dont expect pristine condition on the exhibits but any that are open are all safe to walk through.

What a great way to spend your afternoon with your family. My young son who is a train enthusiast had a blast. The staff/train conductors are extremely knowledgeable about all locomotives and friendly. The museum is great for photography as there are plenty of trains to shoot and you can actually go into some (most) of the trains, which is always cool. Theres a small gift shop with a good selection of train themed items you wont easily find in commercial stores. We took a quick diesel electric train ride which was exciting enough for my small kids. Ticket prices are reasonable and the property as a whole is well kept.I can totally see us visiting again in years to come.

I found this place online, my 3 years old daughter loves trains and school buses. On a Saturday I decided to take her here. It’s run by volunteers, they depend on donations/volunteers/entrance fees etc., to make it possible to happen, so I tried to understand better, and be open minded and positive as I like to be with most things that I do in life.Parking lot was fine, it’s an outside museum and of course is full of what I expected, very antique trains & buses. My daughter had a blast running around and going inside “trying to drive/pilot it” and even “talked” inside of one of those buses on its microphones.I’m just glad she isn’t inside home watching an IPad and loved to watch her happy running around seeing other things.Definitely would recommend to my friends with small children.
