There’s not much here but it’s a nice place to take a walk down the canal north or south path. It’s also a good place to take a look at the Aerial Lift Bridge and maybe take a photo, the north path is better at taking a photo and looking at the bridge but you can go up on the bridge on the south path. You have to come here when the huge ships come through the canal it’s really cool even though it will be busy, north path would be better when the ships come. You can also follow the path along the canal to get to the lighthouses on the north and south side just follow the north path to get to the north lighthouse or south path to get to the south lighthouse. Or follow the north path south to get to the harbor and the south path more south to find another lighthouse by the harbor and also to go to the harbor.

OK so we arent the smartest people in the world to venture down to the Duluth Shipping Pier on a cold, snowy and very icy afternoon but since we arent in Duluth that often we had to venture there. We just happen to catch a large vessel coming in to the harbor. Presenting a great photo opportunity.

You can’t come to Duluth without stopping here. Yes it gets extremely busy during the nice summer days but it’s always enjoyable. During our recent visit the lakeside walkway was all tore of and being rebuilt but that’s only going to make this place even better once complete.

Great place to walk and take pictures of the lake and lift bridge. Also can sit on a bench and watch ships big and small come and go.

We’ve walked on the ice around it, rented pedal cars, watched 1,000 plus foot freighters, enjoyed the lift bridge, ate ice cream and strolled, sat on warm summer days and nights on the pier wall and have made it a part of our family’s lives as long as we all can remember. Growing up in WI and living in the Twin Cities for years, it’s one of our favorite go to places.

Really fun to go to, the museum is very good. Make sure to check the times before you plan on going there, to ensure that a ship will come in, or out. Also, sometimes the ships will not go in or out at the time it says, so make sure you have an hour or two for margin of error.

Watching 1000 foot freighters come in to port never gets old. Trying to get the family there on time to watch it does.
