I’ve been a regular at WeCare for 11 years and can honestly say I’ve never been disappointed in any stay. WeCare is for those serious about improving their health naturally, through fasting, detox treatments, and education. Their program is intense but incredibly rejuvenating, and has changed my life. I feel profoundly better after each fast. Before you go, do your homework and be sure your expectations and needs are in line with what they offer! WeCare is located off by itself, in a secluded, rustic, spiritual setting. There are hot springs and an outlet mall nearby, but it’s better to stay on campus, especially for newbies, to avoid temptation!Know that fasting can be tough. You probably won’t feel well the first few days as you begin to detox. If you’re seeking a fancy, pampering spa like super luxurious Canyon Ranch Spa or else some sort of substance rehab, you’d be in the wrong place.Drinks consist of mostly alkalized water and teas, with a green drink, fiber drinks, one cup of juice and one cup of soup purée. You will not just be drinking lots of different juices. They will customize your drink plan should you have a medical condition, and can provide smoothies and salads as needed. Supplements are provided with detailed instructions on how and when to take them. There are classes in meditation, yoga, breath work, healthy kitchen organization and much more. Don’t miss the founder, Susana’s cooking classes!WeCare also has many detoxifying spa treatments. My favorites are the deep tissue massage with Juan (he works wonders with sliding cups) and System Recovery with Jessie.WeCare is normally booked at least six months out so plan ahead. There’s an area of brand new construction to be completed soon, including modern guest rooms, yoga room, pool and more. Then, the existing section will be remodeled, with an expanded juice bar, and updated guest and treatment rooms. They will also have electric vehicle charging stations.I just spent eight wonderful days at WeCare and feel amazing. Big thank you to David at the front desk for always taking care of me with outstanding service. Thanks also to Adriano, Juli and Sonia in scheduling. See you next fall!

My mom and I were excited to try the services in the spa. We each made an appointment for a lemon scrub. We were exploring Joshua tree and ran into traffic so we were running a few minutes late but we called and let the front desk know. When we arrived, I was greeted by my therapist, Asia. She was warm and welcoming. She made sure I was comfortable and did a great job. However, my mom wasn’t so lucky. When Tammi appeared, she was rude. She lectured my mom about being late. During the whole treatment, Tammi had an attitude so much so that when I met my mom after the treatment my mom was in tears. This lady should not be working in the customer service industry. So if you come here for a spa treatment, ask for Asia NOT Tammi.

There are no words for how much I love this place. After a painful divorce that left me with horrible and constant anxiety, I did a ton of research to find something that would help without taking any kind of meds. I had no idea that I would end up visiting several times and that it would turn into a place that would teach me a new lifestyle, a new diet and the kind of daily practices that support a healthy and peaceful life.I showed up for my first week nearly 1 1/2 years ago and stayed for the seven night, eight day stay. I had never done a fast before and to be quite honest was terrified because I hated the idea of feeling hungry. The first three days were definitely challenging but The support of everyone there as well as the kind staff made it easier and when I woke up on day four I felt reborn. Anxiety gone. Aches and pains gone. It was the most peaceful I had felt in years. The last five days were spent enjoying this new feeling, attending the most amazing classes and getting wonderful scrubs and massages. The fire ceremony with Mari was definitely one of the highlights as well as breath work with Bill, a private reiki session with Mari and all of Susannas classes. She tells you all of the secrets of her healthy lifestyle that allow her to dance five nights per week in her 80s. I cannot say enough about this wonderful place she has created. I am writing this having just arrived for another 7 night stay. Im am so very grateful to be here.

Walk in Colonics are pathetic...they have now gone from 40 minutes down to 30 minutes at $70 ! Theassistant giving the colinic is rushed, beating on your stomach and using too much pressure with a huge massager ... If youre in it for the money and not the health benefit you should probably stop this service! I came home blotted and felt terriblethe rest of the day...This procedure should not be rushed through...Better training needs to be taken....

I have been going here since 2008. Susanna is amazing and what she has created with WeCARE-will be a lasting legacy. Susanna has relinquished much of the daily operations to her daughter, Susan. For me, Susanna built this amazingly special place with her heart. Her daughter lives from a different currency, that it money. There is no judgement from me on whether ones currency is more valid. It just is. As this transition has happened, I have seen the environment change dramatically. The detox program is surely one of very few that exist...AND still I mourn the loss of vision boards and the ability to walk and hike off campus, expecting the body scrubber in your WeCare bag and LIZ : ( probably the worst casualty since I stared going there. Three trips ago, I paid for 8 days in the main building. (Off the kitchen) and the woman in the adjacent room was a chain smoker. (Smoking not allowed at WeCARE) My purpose for booking at WECARE was to get through a horrible bout of bronchitis/pneumonia. When I used my voice, the chain smoker bullied me and the manager at that time (Martha?) told me she was a long term CELEBRITY client. I finally left 3 or 4 days into my trip -as both the manager on duty (no longer there) and the woman were not going to budge. The manager charged me for the full 8 days. I put something on the site after my experience-and on Facebook. Both reviews were taken down. Two trips ago, I booked at Villas which is more expensive, but I needed to reset my system. After I booked, I received a call from another previous guest of We CARE that had found out I had booked for that week. Would I mind sharing my room with her, since their are two beds? Huh? Reservations had shared my information! Isnt that illegal? I adored my new friend from Colorado, however, -it was inappropriate for me to be approached by another guest through reservations wanting to share my room. For reasons not applicable to this conversation, I booked again at WECARE. I was grateful for the opportunity to go, and grateful for the workers who are absolutely the best part of the experience. This last trip was my worst. Two things happened that make me certain I will not recommend nor plan to go back to WECARE Spa in this lifetime. I shared with at least two of the staff members what I learned on the Monday of this visit from a group of us that took a field trip to SAMS mineral spa.. There were at least two male masseuses that were providing Orgasms to females. Thursday, 4 days of ZERO food and SPA BRAIN, I did not take note of my massage person. SPA BRAIN- I didnt put together that my masseuse was one of the Diddlers. (Is that a word?) I had not heeded the warning from a fellow guest about the Extra Benefits .The therapist was very inappropriate to me. I told a few of the staffers what happened. Responses varied. No one from senior management even sorry Zip. David was terrific, Danielle too, Patricia, in Colon therapy too. T U. .Today April 17th when I followed up by phone on another matter to Dominic, he was RUDE. When I pressed he told me it was against the law for him to share any information with me. Okay, I said but what about the $486 or $487 dollars that was stolen from my room? Dominic said We provide you with safes for that.-It is your responsibility. I had an idea who might have stolen the money, though I would never accuse anyone. I quietly went to the person that had come in my room high AND asked if he might know where that money went. I didnt accuse him, I just gave him a chance to put it on my dresser before I left. He said, Yes, that is a lot of money to lose.So a little lighter in the pocket and having taken a ride on the wild side I am going elsewhere. Starting a list of alternatives to WECARE as we speak.

This review is based on sketchy product quality and poor customer service. My husband and I used to love their detox powder, plant protein and other supplements, but the quality has seriously gone down hill over the past year. I ordered plant protein last year that tasted like itd been sitting around in a warehouse for 2 years, so I threw it out.And recently, we tried to order detox powder, but the website said it was only available in a package that included three bottles of other supplements. We didnt really need the other products, but wanted the detox drink, so we ordered the package (and paid a crazy $18 for in-state shipping). They ended up sending only the supplements (aloe, enzymes, probiotic) and said the powder was out of stock until the end of the month. AND the aloe had a manufacturer imprint date of Aug 2016 (we ordered it in June 2018)! Not sure why the site said the package products were in stock when they werent, why customer service didnt just email or call and tell us the drink wasnt available and did we still want the package, or why they sent us outdated product. When I called the spa, the person argued with me about the issues with the order, but ultimately agreed to refund me if I send back the supps at my own expense. So now Ill be out about $30 for shipping and no products.Dont wast your time with the products at We Care. There are better ones out there.

Truly intimate and supportive environment for a detox. We care is definitely a space for those serious about cleansing though, not for those just wanting a spa weekend. Though the fast is intense, the staff is supportive and helpful at customizing a plan that works for each individual. I.e. If you need protein supplementation or have food allergies. What makes we care so special is the staff, though. Everyone was caring, supportive, and accommodating, most with a very positive attitude. Johnny and Julie went above and beyond to make my stay pleasant. Dave and Lori were super helpful. Bridgette (the dietician) was a wealth of knowledge, and all of the classes were wonderful. I learned so much about creating positive shift In my health. The place isnt cheap, but compared to every other place Ive found, its affordable and worth it. If you have cash to spend, you can get a high end room and have multiple spa services daily (many guests do so). Or you can get the lowest tier room and stick to the basic plan to keep it more affordable. The staff didnt treat me as any less for doing that.I will say that there is a lot of construction on the property as they expand, so be prepared for some noise during the week days if you go now. Im curious how the addition of 12 more rooms will change the intimacy of the experience. Hopefully they will find a way to maintain the sweetness.

When did We Care become We Don’t Care?!My twenty-seven-year-old daughter suffers from a debilitating chronic illness. We Care has been very effective in treating her during two previous visits, with the staff providing the exceptional and caring service for which the spa is known. We were thrilled to be able to send our daughter for a third visit this fall and my daughter was looking forward to her trip to We Care with great anticipation.Unfortunately, during this visit my daughter came down with a severe case of the flu on the day she arrived (her symptoms included vomiting, fever, chills, sore throat, cough, etc.) The flu left her bed-ridden and, ultimately, she had to return home early to recover. During her short-term stay, We Care staff insisted that she didn’t have the flu – despite spa policy that doesn’t allow staff to make a medical diagnosis – and told her she was “just” detoxing and needed to power through with her scheduled treatments.Knowing the difference between her illness and the flu, my daughter self-quarantined, particularly avoiding the communal kitchen, something that We Care absolutely should have insisted upon to protect other guests from getting the flu. Upon her arrival home, I would have walked right past her at the airport if she hadn’t called out to stop me! It was shocking to see that my daughter’s condition had deteriorated so much that she was in a wheelchair – a wheelchair! I’m quite certain that if she had stayed at We Care, and especially if she had followed their advice and continued with the spa treatments, she would have ended up at the emergency room in Palm Desert. We are not a family of means, so the cost of the visits to We Care represents a significant financial hardship on us. Because my daughter missed out on nearly 90% of her treatments and classes and had to leave early, I subsequently spoke with the spa manager, about a credit toward her next visit, for which we would have immediately started saving. In that conversation the manager was incredibly rude, argumentative and summarily dismissive about any consideration about a credit of any kind. I was shocked and appalled that We Care has in its employ (and in a leadership position no less) someone who is so surly, disrespectful and lacking in empathy. It is terribly unfortunate that, not only did my daughter miss out on a treatment protocol that has proven extremely helpful in the past, she came home dramatically sicker than when she left. Because we used all our savings to send her to the spa, we are not able to afford any type of alternative treatment to help her recover.I was initially reluctant to write this post because my daughter’s the two previous visits were so positive and so healing, but this wasn’t just an “unpleasant” experience, it was disastrous at almost every turn. We Care should have the well-being of their clients uppermost in their minds, but this wasn’t my daughter’s experience – not by a long-shot. Even the airlines refunded the cost of my daughter’s ticket! The fact that the airline was more accommodating than We Care is an extremely sad commentary on how bad service at We Care has become. So I have to ask, when did We Care become We Don’t Care?
