I went there several years ago. Initially it seemed like a great place to grow in Christian faith. Later I reached a point where I concluded this church was more focused on its power and growth than on helping others to be more like Christ. There were some sincere great people there, but I learned that some who worked for the church falsely assumed they were qualified to get into other peoples business. WARNING too much control and lack of respect for the individual!!!I am still a Christian but I understand why some people leave the church and never come back.

Several years back I decided to become a member. My last meeting with them made me run for the hills. It was basically a shakedown... They wanted to see all my financial assets and have me commit in a membership agreement to commit 10% of that including rewriting my will and trusts.. Along with recruiting guidelines and commitments to build groups. The recent Trump insane devotion along with the obvious hypocrisy makes me thankful for walking out the door. Not interested...

But now I know thats who he is and his faith.I want to thank him and watermark for giving me a small bit of light through a dark period in my life. I was a member for 5 years, and it became more and more cult-like over that time period. When I was there, I was very resistant to anyone calling it a cult - of course you dont want to be part of one, or even consider that you might be in one. They kept adding additional rules around how many Watermark members have to be in your small group for it to be an official group (because members of other churches dont count). I did not see it at the time, but this is so theyre better able to police you and get you to follow their fundamentalist beliefs. Its disturbing how much they are tied to the Republican party and politicians. Im so thankful I was able to get out.

Watermark is simply warm and welcoming. There are smiling faces welcoming you in the moment you walk through the doors. I am recently new to the area, and I am incredibly blessed to have found a community such as this. The church leaders and pastors always have relevant and relatable sermons, even if they are harder subjects to speak about. They provide an immense amount of resources and support to every type of person (men, women, young adults, singles, couples, etc). I have seen complaints about overcrowding and parking, but that is what we should want! The more people joining the church and the body of Christ, the better!

I highly recommend searching blogs for in depth stories of ex members. I observed most all the things I have read from the good to the bad. The entire spectrum seems to exist based on who you are around and how in depth you get. The references to cult behavior requires a more educational knowledge of how cults operate. Not the cults we see in the media, but rather a psychological study of methods and implementation. Nothing is obvious here and things are in layers which peel back the deeper your involvement. Search with keywords added to the organizations name. Things are not always as they appear. If you were raised in church, once you begin to see past the impressive facilities and engaging teaching styles you will begin to realize the actions and behaviors are very opposed to the words and language spoken. Pay attention to the fruits of the Holy Spirit in real depth and not just the words spoken. And again do some research for the blogs and other Christian websites discussing this place. Surprisingly their are many books about modern day cult leadership and cults have advanced and adapted like every other group which survives does. Most importantly remember that Jesus taught being reborn new vs the focus inside their community program where members are focused continually on past and present sin. Leah Remini did a series which surprisingly shed light beyond simply her past experience in Scientology. Another interesting educational area. It is surprising what you do not know or see until such time that you become educated on social dynamics in religion. Find a good healthy church so you see the true light of Jesus and protect your soul above all else. No place where individual spiritual health is secondary to Totalism is shining the light of Jesus over you. Be wise who you entrust your spiritual health and vulnerability to. And listen to your instincts over peer pressure.

The leadership here loves Jesus and does its absolute best to make all their decisions based on scripture. All they care about is making disciples. The teachings here have positively impacted all facets of my life.Contrary to what some of the negative review might suggest, Watermark is not a cult as it does not meet the common characteristics of a cult: the pastor is not the object of worship or the defining element of the group; it does not engage in coercive persuasion/sinister indoctrination; it does not engage in economic (or any other form of) exploitation of the members by the leader or ruling class. From what I can tell, one of the main reasons people dislike Watermark is that the pastors are simply willing do what the Bible says, and encourage others to do the same even if it is difficult.

Best Church and place of worship in Dallas! They strongly encourage you to join a small group to grow and be accountable and to serve. They do not water down Biblical truth and practice loving discipline on those not willing to give up sins and yet claim to be members of Gods family... and if you want to be an actual member, they hold you accountable to these things in following Jesus with them as well as require you to recommit yearly to sustain membership. Yet they do not require you to be sinless to be a member or to attend. All who are seeking God are welcome. The church leadership and teaching favors being authentic and real as we all seek to follow Jesus in the way He commands.

Legalistic, unloving. The Holy Spirit does not live in this church. Forced confessions and submission to a flawed, power-tripping leadership will be your portion if you decide to become a member by signing a legally binding membership contract. I cant even count how many people I know who have left this church in the last year due to being mistreated by leadership. Serving should be a choice, not a requirement. This is a cultic church with Calvinist theology and the spirit of the Pharisees looming over it. If you become a member and try to leave, they will write you an official letter saying you are living in sin for leaving the church and they are obligated to tell your extended community to shun you as a result of your sin. I know right, creepy at best. All the major church leaders have left watermark in the past few months, probably because the Holy Spirit is leading them away from this miserable excuse for a spirit filled establishment. I pray people dont think this is what God/Jesus is like based off the people at watermark because God is LOVE, this church is hate. This church is failing, fast. There are plenty of other spirit filled churches in Dallas where members love you and embody the fruits of the spirit and are living spirit filled fruitful lives and actually making JESUS, not their flawed man-made opinions, known.

To say watermark is a church after God’s own heart would be an understatement! This church embodies what it means to know Christ and to make him known. Ever since visiting this church about 6 months ago, my life has not been the same. The word of God is preached in such a raw and real way and with hard truths that require introspection. Everyone here is invited to study the Bible on their own and to ask questions to have a better understanding of the truth. More importantly we are called to a life of service to others, friends and strangers. I couldn’t be happier here and I tell everyone who cares to listen to visit this place to see the remarkable things God is doing!

I love this church for so many reasons. It is truly an awesome community of believers who genuinely care about each other. I have been to many churches in the DFW area since moving here in 2007 and believe that this church is the most authentic overall. Hence the name Watermark, because this church is all about being authentic with its teaching, worship, and relationships. One of the main reasons I decided to become a member at Watermark is because they have a guide for handling conflict from a biblical standpoint that you receive BEFORE becoming a member. It is an excellent guide that has helped me in other aspects of my life, including work. I was specifically looking for a church that doesnt shy away from hard conversations, lessons, or the unchurched/dechurched. One that doesnt turn away from or banish members with unappealing qualities such as being poor, unpopular, stuck in their sin, those who question the direction of the church, etc., but instead actively and continually PURSUES those members with love but also with biblical truth. I have officially been attending here for almost a year now, and have felt such authentic love, interest, and transparency from the members of this church in that time. Thankful that God led me to Watermark!

This church is extremely loving and welcoming of people from all different backgrounds and beliefs. In fact, they love everyone so much that they are willing to go out on a limb to actually teach the gospel in a loving manner. Christ loved us so much that he laid down his life for us but in order do accept his grace he does call everyone one of us to repentance. If you are willing to sacrifice your personal desires to obey God and help those around you then this is a place to start. If you want to be your own God you should still come and maybe this church will help you find Gods true calling for your life.Tods lessons in particular are truly the best sermons Ive heard in person. He delves deep into the text by giving you historical and cultural context. If the verse is difficult to understand, Tod will go into the original Hebrew and discuss etymology. If you want a high level, feel good, stereotypical Sunday morning lesson this is not the church for you. Tod will push you both spiritually and intellectually. These are the types of lessons people need in order to respond to a increasingly biblically ignorant society.Full disclosure, I am not a member due the distance of this church from my home. I have attended enough times and watched enough of his sermons online that I felt convicted to write this review.

I have never been big on writing google reviews but I genuinely felt compelled to share my experience with Watermark. This church (not referring to the building) has changed my life. I have never witnessed the gospel displayed so biblically and beautifully through God’s people in my life. And this is not to say that everyone here is perfect (because that would be a lie) - we all fall short of the glory of God - including myself (Romans 3:23). But the way I have seen people not only recognize where they fall short, but so freely confess it to one another so authentically and intentionally pray for one another - (INCLUDING our pastor Todd) has encouraged me SO much in my faith - The authenticity among this body of believers is SO amazing and honestly what I believe sets Watermark apart from a lot of churches. I also LOVE how it’s so biblically based and whenever Todd says that if he ever isn’t abiding to the word of God when he’s preaching, to please admonish him faithfully in that.I can almost guarantee you will leave super encouraged. When I started becoming a true believer a little more than a year ago, my initial reaction and thoughts were, “there is something DIFFERENT about this church”. I’ve grown tremendously since then - and it’s all Glory to God and the community of believers of this church.

Unfortunately, this church enforces gender hierarchy. Women are banned from leadership. The building is beautiful, the members are sincere, the mission is effective at serving the community and meeting needs in third world countries. If you are looking for a church that values biblical equality between men and women in the church, this is not a good choice. If you believe all women should be banned from leadership simply based on their gender, then this is a great choice. I attended for a year in 2009, and I really enjoyed the small groups and classes, but I wouldnt choose it today because I am a woman and called to pursue ordination. This church will prevent all their female members from becoming teaching pastors. If you would like to learn more about biblical equality, please visit CBE International. If you dont value women being treated as equals in the church and home, then I honestly would recommend Watermark as a place to worship.

If you want a bible based message and caring people, this is your place! The church requires members to be involved and not just warm a pew. Yes, they are considered conservative by the worlds standard, but I would take that as a compliment!Since I tend to work Saturday evening into Sunday morning, the Saturday afternoon service is perfect for us (and its not as crowded as Sunday morning by a long shot). The only change I would like to see is a way to increase cultural diversity in the congregation and attract more empty nesters like us. However, I am not sure how that is accomplished.

As someone who loves God, you can definitely feel His teachings being taught here and capture the attention of people’s hearts here. My husband and I came here looking for an evening service we could attend being new to the area and we automatically liked the atmosphere. However, as a church, I know God calls us to work together with other churches to bring His words of hope to all the nations and hearing the pastor speak badly of my home church pastor in Houston did not sit well with me. If you love God, you love people. You can feel that this church is very open to accepting everyone. I would have given it 5 stars, but in the end, I don’t believe shaming is a part of the gospel and quite frankly it hurt to hear the pastor of this church criticize a fellow pastor. This is a great church to come to and if you are new to the area, you will definitely enjoy a service here and learn about the Bible but just be mindful to not accept hate into your heart in the midst of a good teaching.

Everything about Watermark is beautiful.I guess the main downside is the parking. Ideally, you want to get here early enough to find a spot next too the building. After the first 200-300 cars, youll have to park 2ish blocks away in their awkward parking garage. However, their approach of the most loving thing we can do is to bring you to (their interpretation of) the will of God can sometimes go too far, sometimes for the wrong reasons, and sometimes executed in unloving ways. They preach a lot of biblical truths. They didnt hound me for money when I attended unlike most churches begging for your hard earned dollar, but they hounded you to be apart of a community group. They hounded you to go through celebrate recovery. They lacked spiritually. They believe/believed that miracles died with the apostles meaning that Gods power in void in our lives today and that we have to run this spiritual race without spiritual guidance from God Almighty which is why they emphasized community groups and celebrate recovery. This is my opinion and what I received from my experience there. Its been a long time since Ive attended but they talked about unchurched people more than they talked about godliness and ungodliness as if unchurched equaled ungodly and godly equaled churched.

The change in our lives is outwardly apparent and now we are helping others see what Jesus can do for them. Come and see for yourself!

No one gave this church a 2 so, might as well throw my coin in and say I love going. Really, you should check it out. They speak the truth in love and its awesome :)

Gods presence is palpable. There was not a live preacher in the evening service. Aside from that, very welcoming environment and friendly people.
