Went for the wine tasting festival. 60 bucks to get two of us in. Doesnt look like many were willing to do it. Plus had to pay for the wine you tasted. In the park is starting to get run down. The old houses are lacking maintenance. Almost depressing. Find something else to do.

Located on Chaparral Street, on a historic site, is a collection of twelve beautifully restored Corpus Christi homes. Each of these architecturally different buildings is full of history providing visitors with a historic back-drop of the early community residents of Corpus Christi. Outside each house is a historic marker with details of the building and past owners. Visitors can enjoy a relaxed walk around the site viewing these unique houses. One of the ‘youngest’ buildings is The Gugenheim house, a survivor of the 1919 hurricane, the oldest is the Britton-Evans Centennial House built in 1849, still located upon its original site just a short drive away. Many of the houses are open to the public and are also available to hire for private meetings and events.

Absolutely an Architectural must-see! The historical value and presence of these exquisite homes simply cannot be over emphasized. Stepping up on the porches and gazing out at The Gulf, one cannot help but let their mind drift back to a time and place where thrown-open windows allowed sea breezes to gently waft through, accompanied by the rythmic clip-clopping of shod horses hooves striking the street beneath them.
