Had to use the bathroom, only thing nearby. If it had been an outhouse Id have given it four stars lol... However, it seemed pretty nice. Grass park, sandy beach. Not sure Id want to swim in a bay where I can see the industrial side of San Diego all around me, but to each their own. Bathroom actually had running water and soap, pretty good for a beach bathroom.

Excellent Bay and Park. Our mothers day was perfect I couldnt ask for more. The landscape well kept and manicured and clean. Bathrooms ans showers are readily available and flanked both sides of the park. The water was managable and canoo rentals are onsite. I actually took a swim in the peninsula and checked up on my yacht. The park offers a playground shade and a landing slip for small vessels. Dont know if liquor is allowed, we didnt have any nor did the other families enjoying that day. Police presence was none though our family is. The park wasnt crowded there was plenty of parking. I could go on talking about this place is but Ill let the photos do the talking on that mothers day. Put it on your to do list!

I’ve been coming here on and off for the past two years for paddle boarding and this is the first time I’m sad to say that I’m very disappointed with how they treat their customers . The coordinator with dark hair and sunglasses told me when they close at 2 PM that the last Paddle goes out at noon when I was told yesterday on the phone buy a female that the last panel goes out at 1 PM . I don’t know why people who work for the same company are giving out different information . I was here two weeks ago on a Saturday and we took out a paddleboard at 4 PM and then they closed at five which makes sense, hence we came at one for the hour paddle. it only took the coordinator and his young buddy with an accent, 10 minutes to close up the shop, and he acted like he needed a whole hour to close up when really I think they just wanted to go home early on a Friday for the weekend. I need to finish my passes because I bought the package 10 passes for 100 bucks but after I use them up I will no longer be returning for these services . Thanks for ruining my day.

So heres the deal... The harbor police are like the Gustapo in San Diego and every anchorage in the bay requires a permit. Which in turn, crowds the guest dock with a most undesirable element. Most harbor cities in this country are very open to having boaters and sailors anchor their vessels in the harbor. Lots are totally unregulated, and some are regulated to make sure that the vessel is seaworthy and that boaters have all the necessary equipment aboard to sustain a livable environment for both the boater and the surrounding area. But San Diego has taken it upon themselves to bar all long term anchoring. (Over 90 days) This action has forced the poor and technically homeless citizens residing in their vessels to move their boats into a very dangerous, unregulated patch of ocean, just outside the bay, know as Zuniga Point. Or, as the locals call it, the zoo...The zoo is a dangerous place, for even the most experienced boaters. Strong currents and no protection from the Incoming waves often force boats off their anchors and into the neighboring Naval Air Station, where they become beached or destroyed. It is also teeming with drug activity and theft. Boats left out to moor in the zoo are often robbed or even set adrift by other residents of the area. These are the elements that the City of San Diego has their harbor patrol sending many new sailors, elderly boaters on a fixed income, veterans and just less fortunate boaters in general, into.To avoid having to anchor in the zoo, residents spend as many days as possible on the cities guest dock, most maxing out the allowable nights in any given month. They also bounce, for as many days as possible, from permitted anchorage to permitted anchorage, before inevitably having to return to The Zoo. This gives the police dock a very pirate vibe. Not the kind of welcome to a city that most boaters are accustomed to. It creates a negative first impression of our beautiful city.San Diego had to learn a hard lesson, from its terrible treatment of its homeless citizens, during the Hepatitis outbreak last year. This shameful treatment of its less fortunate citizens is bound to bite you in the butt again if you dont address this problem. It hasnt even been very long since the former long term anchorage closed and I believe were already seeing a much worse environmental impact with just the sheer number of boats that wash ashore near the naval air station. This is in comparison to the number of boats washing ashore in the former A-8 anchorage over a much more lengthy period of time. This is most likely due to the much more extreme conditions at Zuniga Point.I believe there is a solution that will not only be an answer for those less fortunate citizens of our city but also for the city itself. Open another anchorage like the former A-8 anchorage and better govern the vessels permitted to anchor there. STOP the harassment of good intentioned boaters who want nothing more than a quiet place to park and watch the sun set.I used to love sailing into San Diego. I got my first boat and learned how to sail here. But San Diego is fast becoming my least favorite port city, and I dont even have to deal with bouncing around nonstop or the rough conditions of the zoo. Im quite comfortable, in my yacht, at a very well appointed marina. But everyone goes through a rough patch, and its depressing to think that this could very well happen to anyone..... even me.I like to think that we can find a way to better coexist. But it all starts with the better treatment of our less fortunate citizens. Those of us with money can afford to make a few sacrafices for the greater good. Thats just my two cents...
