Cape arago is just a nice place to go get a view of the ocean, Maybe take some pictures, and if you are there on the right day see and hear some sea lions.
Enjoyable park with several hike options. The loop from the beach to the lighthouse lookout does have quite a few trees down that you have to climb under/over, but are passable for most people.
A must see if youre visiting. Absolutely beautiful views.
Wonderful, love visiting here. We go offen. Saw a young raccoon eating berries. Saw sealions, you could hear them clearly calling to each other. Great outing, even was able to safely social distance.
Beautiful views. Must visit. Also, bring your binoculars as you can easily see some sea lions and seals in the ocean making a lot of noise on a sunny day.
The sea lions romped on the nearby rocks and made a hell of a noise. It was great to watch the hustle and bustle.
BEAUTIFUL! It was one of the best hikes Ive ever been on. I got amazing photos. I really loved all of it. :)
It was a foggy day, but we hiked down and were able to see some Sea Lions swimming around and barking. Really cool area. We didn’t see the tide pools because it was close to high tide and the fog was thick. Hoping to try again tomorrow.
Saw grey whale and massive amounts of seal at Simpsons reef. Beautiful park. Clean, several different places to view wonderful sunsets.
Octobers the time for us not too busy we did even get to see some sea lions and we went tidepooling so much fun beautiful weather
Pretty good view but a long way from the 101 so unless youre planning on spending a half-day and hitting some of the other beaches or doing some hiking its not worth the drive for a quick visit
Amazing tide poolsI saw things there I havent seen before! & not to mention WHALES
This park is breathtakingly beautiful. The ocean is easily accessible and the beaches are outstanding. Numerous easy trails criss-cross the park and inter-connect. There are numerous places to view seals and sea lions. Before 9:00 am or after 8:00 pm are best times to go. Its practically deserted then.
Beautiful place! Love seeing all of the sea lions! Whales were close today!
Great place to watch the field in the morning especially with the low tide
Absolutely happy to have deviated from our route to hit this gem. Unfortunately, we did not get to spend as much time and see everything but it is on our list for future camping.
Seriously, the best tide pools Ive ever seen in Oregon. Make sure to go at low tide and explore. I see something new and cool every time I go. I go at least twice a year. I even saw a live octopus once.
Beautiful area! Love that all 3 parks are connected. Beautiful hiking area to the pack trail to check out the WWII bunkers or, if your more daring, find the rope down at the Simpson Scenic View and see the tide pools. Just make sure you know the tide times and that the water is safe. Not small kid or pet safe.
Beautiful area with a few different trails down to the beach. Also a good place to check out the sea lions.
Great place to visit a wonderful views.
This is one of my favorite places on the Oregon coast. Beautiful viewpoints and nice walking paths.
Beautiful! We followed a path that brought us to the edge of a cliff and you could see seals basking on rocks. The waves crashing against rocks the trees hanging on the edges. It was awesome!
Great place to visit for scenic views
Great view, hiking and lots of seals!!
Amazing experience! I saw whales!!! Definitely bring binoculars and a nice camera if you have it!
Lovely park, not many people
Cape Arago is amazing. Make sure to hike the trails and keep your eye on the ocean. The whales are here year round.
Its beautiful and not very windy
Very beautiful place more then worth the visit
Sweet protected tidepools. Found a sea urchin that someone had eaten by the trailhead...
Very happy to be traveling and seeing some of the sights now that Im retired!
Cape Arago State park is a scenic drive on coastal Oregon and one must do it if theyre driving on Highway 101 about the Oregon coast!
It is been honestly one of the most beautifullest places that I have ever been to me and my family went there for vacation when it was in the end of June the beginning of July 2018 we went down to Oregon Portland Oregon to see my family there and when we went this is one of the parks and places that we decided to visit and take pictures and eat there and just had a really wonderful time its very clean their the people are amazingly so nice everywhere you look everybody is just so happy and having that atmosphere when you are very sick and terminally ill that is exactly what someone needs and so Im very proud of this area and made me and my family and my uncle very happy to
Great photo ops and easy hiking trails.
Beautiful beaches and wonderful trails. Find WW2 bunkers hidden along the trails.
Great landscapes
Incredible spot! Tide pools and ocean life are vibrant and plentiful in the crevices by the waterside. Actual trails are limited but if you go past them down towards the water, you won’t regret it.
Beautiful park with lots of sea lions barking. Camping over at Sunset Bay down the road is great too if you decide to stay the night, but book in advance.
We had the most magical time. We didnt want to leave. Got to see many sea creatures, annenome, crab, and not alot of people.
Stunning geology and lovely tide pools. Recomendable at low tides.
Trails lead to a beach with rocks, driftwood, and the ocean. Trails are not well-marked, so look carefully by the parking. Also, the bathroom is VERY easy to miss. Look to your left as soon as you make the right to the parking entrance.
So cool to see the sea lions up close
Always a favorite spot to hang out, and seeing whales up there is awesome
Fantastic panoramic views, good trails, benches to rest on and lots of parking complete with a sunny day makes for a perfect outing. Make sure you wear your hat, coat and gloves because the wind still has a bite. Great place to walk the dogs on a leash too.
Fabulously beautiful. Exciting coast.
Beautiful views. Loud sea lion wails. Relaxing trails.
Wonderful tidepools. Sea lions. The trail to the beach is very steep.
Totally amazing coast line. Well worth the time and effort. Leave at least 2 hrs to explore.
Absolutely gorgeous!
Awe man we seen several orca whales. awesome
My favorite Charleston Beach! Stunning views, trails down to the beach on either side. The sound of barking Sea Lions and the possibility of a whale sighting. There is no more perfect spot than this.
Beautiful rugged coastline. Great views
This place is so beautiful and peaceful.
Looks like a great place to explore.
Love our coast!
Just a beautiful place to visit, any season of the year, any type of weather!
Awesome overlook! Great hiking trails.
Awesome views. Great picnic spots-moderately private with fantastic views of the ocean. Not a lot of spots though, so youd need to get there early! Lots of trails in the area. Did I mention...BEAUTIFUL views!
Omg! Best place I have been along the coast. You get so many differ t elements of nature all at once. You get to sea lions, seals, harbor seals, elephant seals . Theres , Bald eagles, osprey, etc. Amazing and beautiful . I plan to go back during summer
Very beautiful I enjoy it nice view
Beautiful view point. Loved by locals and tourists. Nice easy to moderate trails to a beach where you can spot sea lions on the rocks in the water.
Beautiful. Fond memories from my younger days live here.
Beautiful beach with lots of friendly dogs
We like this place and the gardens are wonderful!
Super windy day but was beautiful.
The pictures dont do this breathtaking view justice. Its honestly one of the more gorgeous things Ive ever seen.We sat and watched the waves break awhile before heading back to Sunset Bay to camp. The north trail was closed because of seal pupping season, but there were plenty of other trails and places to walk/hike/be.
We caught an amazing winter sunset at Cape Arago ... an awesome example of the beauty of the Oregon Coast every inch of which is available to and owned by all the citizens of Oregon and not by private individuals or corporations!!
We saw some whales out past the reef! Stunningly beautiful place to explore.
Awesome views... just awesome!
Beautiful site and there is whale watching
Beautiful place. Love going on the nature trails.
Love this park! Beautiful beach
Love it here ..you can see whales
Beautiful place to stop from a day visit
Awesome place! Kids loved it too
This is a very nice hiking tour from Sunset Beach. I recommend to go all the way because it is very rewarding at the end. Since most of the people go by car you will not meet many people on your hike. On your way you will have wonderful views to the beaches and cliffs. You will very likely see whales and, of course, a lot of sea lions. At Cape Arago you can climb down to the rocks. Not easy but not dangerous if you are careful.
Fantastic visit. We started with watching whales swimming just out from the main overlook. We then drove to the South trail to walk down too the tide pools. A ranger guided our walk through one surprise after another. It was hard to wait as she explained how to enjoy the search but it made the time much better. We saw many creatures and learned how to safely interact with the crabs, sea stars, anemone, sea urchins, etc.We stopped at the picnic area filled with flowers for lunch before we headed to the overlook to watch the seals and sea lions.
Very beautiful place loved it recommend it to anyone
I have lived here for 10 years and have never seen the sunken Forrest at Sunset Beach. After a major earthquake 1200 years ago, a huge section of Spruce sank into the ocean. It can be seen at low tide
Nice trails, lots of picnic areas
The most beautiful place to visit the ocean
So beautiful and serene!
The view is always beautiful
Kate Browns foolishness has seeped in and there are troubles with the restrooms and too much social distancing, but the park is great.
Very windy, but nice.
Always a pretty place! Gets busy in the summer so parking can be rough. Going before 10am and after 5pm and the crowds are lighter.
Its a nice place to relax n watch the waves and sea lions and the lighthaus ...
Safe place for kids,breathtaking views
Amazing tide pool area if you come at the right time. Its also great for sunsets.
At the end of the road south of Coos Bay and Charlston Oregon. Beautiful trails along the headland & several hiking trails that wander inland a bit through the forest.
A must see!
Narrow trial.
It was alright not high splashes tide was on its way out but very pleasant.
Beautiful area,!!
Stunning views, whale sightings
Needs a lot of cleanup, bushes trimmed, grass mowed.
