This place is absolutely gorgeous. Its a bit of a hike from the parking lot to the actual falls, but it was well worth it. My pictures were from my phone and dont do it proper Justice. The canopy provided more than enough shade. And the picnic area was really nice to sit down and have lunch with the family. Im looking forward to going back. It was a fantastic summer day.

There is a nice trail and they have bathroom facilities. However as of the time I posted this the gorge was shut down as well as any access to the creek bed due to flash flood hazards. This will be a great attraction to visit in Tennessee once the other portions of the trail are opened and they have developed the attraction more. The staff is great and Luke was great to talk with. Keep up the good work.

This place is awesome and it is so pretty but be prepared to walk up stream for about an hour.Only take the evacuation route if absolutely necessary and you have a ranger with you because it is very dangerous.Make sure you bring sneakers and water shoes and switch when necessary. We had help from David the ranger and he was very helpful!

This is an extremely beautiful place! It depends on who you ask about the difficulty getting down there, but for most I think itll be pretty easy. The parking lot is nice (including overflow parking). You walk down a moderate hill at the beginning, and then turn left when you get to the creek. From there you walk down the creek for what seems to be 20-30 minutes. As you start to hear the waterfall youll know its just around the corner. IMPORTANT: Be aware that this place gets REALLY crowded on weekends as the day progresses. If you can go during a weekday itll be a lot better experience. However, no matter how many people are talking the sound from the waterfall will deafen everyone to your ears.

I visited the falls along with 3 other adults and our 4 children (ages 9-10). Not challenging for experienced hikers, but varied and interesting for individuals of any experience level. The falls themselves are beautiful and a blast to explore, swim, jump, and climb. Some risk of scrapes and moderate falls. Dont expect railings, signs, and lifeguards to keep you from doing something dangerous. The moderate risk was part of the excitement.

Claims theyre over crowded, needed to inplace a 100 persons limit to keep everyone safe. Ive been here for the past two years and it was perfectly safe with no overcrowding. Seems like just another cash grab. Sad to see this place get riddled with restrictions, it was a great place.

An amazing little hike where you pretty much have no choice but to get your feet wet! Or at least the day my group went. Extremely packed maybe in part because of a food truck being there. But definitely a place where people of all ages and backgrounds were seen having a blast! Park Rangers definitely on duty for this hike and I will always remember now ALCOHOL IS NOT ALLOWED! Thanks to Ashley the park ranger who also happened to be really cool!

“YOU SHOULD GO”. What a great day trip. I never knew it existed until someone mentioned it on Facebook. It’s just a little bit South of Cookeville Tn. You park, hike down to the bottom of the gorge about an eighth of a mile, then hike up the river a little ways and there it is. My pictures show it all.

Beautiful waterfalls, rugged & treacherous. Youll have to walk through the water banks, water can go above your knees, so wear water shoes and be careful. Wet rocks might be slippy. Very crowed so go early. Park ranger do check your bags for alcohol beverages & no cooler allow. People can swim & jump in the water from the falls. Worth the hike, round trip about 3.6 or less miles.

The falls are breathtaking. I am so glad we came and got to see the beauty of such an amazing spot on this earth. However; the hike down is quite treacherous and once down it is a very rocky walk quite a bit further before you get to the falls. I would definitely not recommend the hike down for anyone with health or back/knee issues and also it would be quite irresponsible to take babies or toddlers down such a dangerous trail. For all others it is totally worth it!

Can see falls from the overlook but to access the falls you need to invest in watershed and walk up the river to get to it. It is a work in progress as it was only established as a place to visit in 2012. Go take the family or a date youll love it. One thing bathrooms were out of order and port a johns were set up.

Worth a visit - majestic - get ready to drench- swimming is allowed - helpful rangers - safe and doable easy trailIts a wonderful weekend out with a decent trail heading down towards the stream. Get your water shoes ready to soak in the awesome water from the falls as you try to reach the main falls. Definitely worth to visit. Personally I would prescribe shoes as the terrain is uneven and slippery most of the times around the year. Expect to spend atleast a couple of hour if you love to get drenched and swim in the lovely place.

The falls are breath taking and so fun to swim under but you work for it. When I went the first time I stayed on top of them. When they say they recommend water shoes take it extremely seriously. I am surprised I could walk the next day. The second time we went to the base of the falls. Had no clue it was about a 30 min med/hard hike to get there that involved crossing the river at least twice if your lucky. The reward is so worth it. I wish they would stay open a bit later.

Not for small children or those faint at heart! You basically are navigating steep trails and maneuvering through the river bed/over massive boulders to get to the falls. Plan on a backpack, a swimsuit if you dare, and steardy footwear with good traction. Water shoes are recommending, I wore hiking boots just fine. You WILL get wet. About 4 miles total and plan on at least 3 hours to take it all in.

The hike is great and waterfall itself is beautiful. Weve been here before and loved it! This time around there were dogs off their leashes and the bathrooms were absolutely horrid! You could smell it before you got in there. The portable Potties they had during our first hike were a lot cleaner and smelled less than the actual bathrooms. Both stalls had no toilet paper so be sure to bring your own and some clorox wipes while youre at it.

This place is absolutely beautiful and one heck of a hike! Some advice...the hike is through the woods with a lot of tree roots. Once youre at the bottom and headed toward the falls its pretty much all river rock. You have to cross through the water a few times...its cold. The closer you get to the falls the larger and more treacherous the rocks become. #1 you need good hiking shoes that can and will get wet. #2 some of the rocks are very slippery. #3 a walking stick is useful.

This is a very cool waterfall to visit. Definitely one of my favorite creek crawl hikes. Make sure to wear shoes that can get wet and retain some structure. The hike is moderate, but requires visitors to walk up the creek bed and crawl over some large rocks. Crossings through water up to knee-deep when the water is low is required. Waterproof boots will be submerged, so I recommend a rugged sandal or minimalist shoe such as Chacos or Vibram FiveFingers if possible. The falls are beautiful and the pool at the bottom of them becomes deep enough to swim in. The new updates to the trail and falls now includes life vests for children for rental at the begining of the trails and at the falls. This trail and the falls can become extremely crowded during the summer and weekends during nice weather.

This was only recently made a Tennessee state park, so I didnt know about these falls when I was a student at TTU from 1983-1987. Beautiful falls, and the overlook is a short walk from the parking lot. However, if you want to go to the base of the falls, then you have to take the trail which goes further downstream, and then walk up the edge of the creek until you get to the falls. Unless the creek is really down, that means you will almost certainly have to cross the creek and get your feet wet at least once. So if you want to hike to the base of the falls, then wear shoes you dont mind getting wet.

This is a very great place to visit, especially when you get to the waterfall. You can swim and enjoy the waterfall. The hike is moderate with some inclines. Either way it is worth the trip!!

The hike to the falls, at least to the outlook is pretty good. It is by no way difficult. The beauty and the scenery is great. Saw a couple of deer, found a nest full of baby birds. It isnt a long hike either trail you take. The outlook take you to the top of the falls with a path down to the shore. Found some fossils walking along it. The water is flowing pretty good even though its winter. Its not deep, we walked through it and it didnt even come close to our knees. There is even a set of picnic tables set up along the well maintained trail making a great little place to have a picnic.

Scenic, shaded and a great little hike to the falls. Unfortunately, it is a little too well known for much enjoyment and for my taste (like Gatlinburg).
