Slightly above moderate difficulty with steady inclines, very light scrambling, and a variety of experiences and about 5 miles if you do both summits. The trail varies from 3ft wide gravel, wood steps, and 14 wide narrow points. If you go all the way to the top of Mt Muscoco you are rewarded with a mountain view opposite the city view you experience during the hike, which I HIGHLY recommend! Mt Cutler is a MUCH shorter and easier finishing hike with very beautiful views as well, if you cant do both I recommend at least trying to reach the bench at the top of Mt Cutler for a great experience! The parking area is small here but

This is a perfect spot for a short or longer hike. The views are breathtaking and the trail is in good shape. We just did the shorter Mt Cutler out and back and really enjoyed it. The elevation rise is only about 500ft but you can see Colorado Springs City and the whole area!

Ry
Review №3

The lower peak is definitely more aimed at dog walkers and families. Theres some benches and the inclines are not extreme. The real fun for an avid hiker is the taller peak, which is a more intense trail with a spectacular payoff view at the top. It is certainly less crowded. Plan to take two hours to really soak in the hike. As always, take plenty of water and tell someone where youre going. I had to abandon this hike once before when a violent storm popped up. So be careful.

Still fairly new to the area but I think this is such a great trail. Elevation gets you for sure but it’s easy to stop to catch your breath and keep on trekking. For sure recommend this one. Beautiful views up top!

Really good trail if you want something very easy and short. Parking is limited but I always go at 5am to anything in North cheyenne canyon so I dont run into the crowds until Im leaving.

Well-marked trail that’s 100% worth the views from the top of the mountain! Hiked this with my dog at ~3pm, temp was in the high 60s. Made it to the summit in an hour and, with some stops for photos and to take in the scenery, this was a 2 hour hike overall. (For reference, I’m not the fastest person on the mountain but am in good shape and kept it moving.)Also, there may or may not be a geocache with a log book waiting for your signature up top ;)

Review №12

Great hike! Mount Cutler is pretty easy, about a mile up and a great view overlooking Colorado Springs. Mount Muscoco is harder, about 4.5 miles round trip and a bit steeper and more difficult towards the end, but the payoff is an even better lookout than Cutler. The way up is pretty well marked but be careful on the way back - if you start going down a bit of a steepish, loose scramble you may have missed your turn. Not a big parking lot and it fills up so you might want to get there early, particularly on the weekend.

Relatively easy hike with stunning views. I personally wouldnt feel as relaxed with my kids because there are some drop off points on the trail. As long as you are cautious you can do this with kids. As a Colorado date or solo hike, though, its perfect.

Great hike w/ the fam (kids ages 11, 13, 16). Steeper and looser than I expected towards the top, but very manageable. Steep drops at the top, but easy to avoid. Trail was well marked and easy to follow. 57-minutes to top... about 50-minutes coming back. Recommended for sure!

This was a great trail, we did Mt. Muscoco, it was my 5 year old (who hikes regularly) and myself. The views are spectacular the whole way! It is a single-path trail, no bikes or horses. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on leash and cleaned up after. There are no facilities at the Trailhead but the Discovery Center is a few minutes away and can be utilized there. The Mt. Muscoco trail is difficult, it is at an incline almost the entire time. We used hiking sticks for stability and to help control the slide at times.

Great easy - moderate hiking trail. It’s one of our goto trail and is about 2 mile (one way). It usually take us about 1 hour 10 mins to reach the summit and approx. 1 hour to come down. If you are hiking for the first time in this trail, pay particular attention to pathways as some paths can mislead you to wrong directIon. Start early around 6 AM to get the parking spot otherwise you may need to park little far.

Close to town. Pretty views. We did Cutler which is short and easy for most people. The trail is well maintained but if drop offs make you queasy theres a place thats a little scary, but the trail is wide enough to be safe. Ive done this hike with toddlers, old folks, on ice, always a good time.

Nice hike with great views. It is not a walk in the park as some of the trail guides might lead you to believe. The last 1/2 mile of Muscoco is a bit of a scramble. Other than that, its well-marked, well - maintained, and family-friendly.

We have hiked to the top of Mt. Muscoco twice now and have had a fantastic experience each time. For the most part the trail is easy until you get to about the last 30 mins before the summit. The trail becomes difficult, but adds a little bit of a last minute fun factor before summiting. The summit offers a beautiful view of the mountains and Colorado Springs, (including a view of the Broadmoor.) From the trailhead to the summit and then back down again, I would put the total hike at around two and half hours give or take depending on how experienced you are. Could be challenging for beginners.

Nice easy trail. Watch your step as the path does have slippery rocks. Great views!People that take their dogs do need to be more responsible for their poo bags or even using a poo bag as it says on a sign entering the trail. Its gross!..should I leave my kids poo sitting along the trail?? No? Then please pick up your dogs.
