The construction is interesting and would of liked to see it close up. Unfortunately still cannot get closer or better view than from the road. There are mansions back east where upon improvement proved beneficial income for the community. The home owners in the area might want to think of purchasing it before it burns down, falls down, or inhabited by passers through. Even a 1.00 fee could help improve the road.Or construction companies in the area purchase it, maybe as easy as paying back taxes, make it stable, run it as a tourist attraction and donate proceeds to charity. It becomes a tax deduction and a community benefit. Involve neighbors to help run it, or boy and girl Scott’s, and in return improve the area and property value. What a showcase Cody could be for community cooperation and initiative, and example for other communities and future generations. At the least who ever has the web site should take down the open times. Or if it is open take down the No Trespassing sign and replace it with a more informative sign.I have been up to Cody and passed it for many many years. It’s is sad no one in or around Cody has taken initiative.

We stay at green creek everytime we come to sturgis to ride Yellowstone. Its the most convenient place you can find. Great people run this place and its always very nice. And we always love staring up the hill at the mansion.

They call it a “monument” but it didn’t impressed me that much. I mean, if you’re on the way it might be worth a couple of pictures but I would not spend there a lot of time. It’s not that easy to reach it hence you have to take pictures from the road. It’s easy to see from the road but I would be more aware to see deers and bisons instead of the Smith Mansion.

I think all reviewers have summed it up here. An interesting place to drive by if youre going from Cody to Yellowstone (or vise versa) and take a picture. It is private property, so you cant walk to it. There is no information or sign that says whats the purpose of the place.I was trying to figure out what this place was and thanks to Google I found it. It is interesting to know that Mr. Smith built this from a lot of free wood, and he continued adding pieces. Unfortunately, the project is unfinished because he died in the process.

Very cool place to drive by... Although you cant visit, there is no Museum. Worth stopping on the side of the road if youre driving through Cody to Yellowstone. Otherwise, look it up on Google.

Interesting to drive by and look at, but apparently no access, yet they are seeking donations to preserve it? Huh?

Extremely interesting. Would love to get more history on this place. By far one of the most beautiful places to see in these mountains. I hope this landmark stays forever as an American Dream!
