I absolutely LOVE this park.Right at the end of Ohio Street and with a beach nearby, this is one of the absolute best parks in all of Chicago. It’s especially nice in the winter when no one is around and you’re all alone. It’s peaceful, big, and the views are spectacular.I highly recommend a visit to Milton Lee Olive Park.

Its a beautiful, albeit neglected park honoring a medal of honor recipient. Be sure to read his plaque. Great views of the city, day or night. Lots of people take wedding and engagement photos there. Especially at the bump outs.

This is hands down of of my favorite parks in the city. Where to begin...It is perhaps the most overlooked park, as Navy Pier practically borders it to the Southeast, and millions of people go there, but millions also miss this park...It has huge beautiful old trees that lead you down a path to massive open fields perfect for dogs to run around in or play some pick up sports in. It has these huge, unique water drains that fill up after strong rains and create some amazing visual / photographic opportunities. The best though is hugging the park lakeside where you get panoramic views of Chicagos beaches, architecture, and lakefront that continues on for miles, on a clear day you day see all the way up to Northwestern University. Theres also a raised ledge over the water which again is great for getting pictures or feeling like youre floating over the water in the face of some brilliantly laid out cityscape. Its simple, if you visit Chicago, visit this park. If you live in Chicago and havent go, Go. Im native to the city and love this spot for pitching a hammock and watching sunset!

This place is pretty cool you can walk past all of the weird circles I’m pretty sure they were out there by aliens which would explain how the platforms over the water just levitates there without falling down. Magic.

Just a short jaunt from Lake Shore Path is this wonderful park. Plenty of trees, expansive grass areas, benches, lookout points, etc. The best part of the park is the view of the city skyline. Lots of people take wedding photos here because of the skyline, which includes a great shot of streeterville and the ol Hancock Tower. Come here to people watch, city watch, beach watch, and boat watch. Yep, its right alone the famous Playpen where all the boats come to hang out during the sunny summer days. Note: the city is stringent on the close time of the park. The police will come in at 8pm close time and with sirens boot everyone out. Too bad the sun hasnt even set!

This park has something for everybody, be it dog owners, couples or a family wanting to spend some quality time together. The view of the lake front skyline from Oak street beach nearby is awesome. The overall atmosphere is festive because of all the people cycling around, swimming in the lake or relaxing on the beach. There are lots of spots to take good photos and this is supported by the fact that I saw two separate wedding parties getting their photos clicked here. This is definitely a must visit.

A great little beach close to navy pier. There were a lot of people playing vollyball and the people at the beach were nicer than usual. There were lifeguards on duty the whole time I was there and lots of people playing in the water. The parking is terrible, but that is to be expected in downtown.

Adjacent to Navy Pier, a long and narrow park on Lake Michigan. There is an observation deck to enjoy the Chicago skyline, a wide, strolling cement sidewalk by the water. People go there to watch the Air and Water Show above the city and over the beach. More private than many less hidden beaches off of Lake Shore Drive.

Steps East from Ohio Street Beach, Olive Park is named after Milton Lee Olive III, a.k.a. Skipper, an African American hero who sacrificed his life ay the age of 18 in Vietnam on October 22, 1965 by smothering a live grenade to save others. The wide tree lined corridor runs one mile north along the lake wall.

Quiet compared to Navy Pier or Oak Street beach nearby. Shady spots to hang. Lot of deferred maintenance building up. Gated - can be unexpectedly closed without notice. All of 2 trashcans entire length of pier. Fountains (5?) havent worked for years. De facto dog park - generally well behaved but often off leash. Wheelchair - yes - but $$$ & blocks away - Navy Pier.

Private Milton Olive Memorial Park near Navy Pier is a hidden gem in Chicago. This small park is just north of Navy Pier, peacefully secluded from the mobs walking from the Pier to the Ohio Street beach. The park boasts my single favorite view of the city skyline from the lakeside. There is ample greenspace to lay out on and park benches to take in the scenery. Bikers, joggers, and roller bladers routinely pop in and out of the park as part of their trails. Feel free to bring your dog for a game of catch or just to enjoy some fresh air!Of course, no mention of the park would be complete without a nod to the brave young man who gave his life in Vietnam over 40 years ago, earning the Medal of Honor. I encourage everyone who visits the park to take 5 minutes and read the stone plaque engraved with his story in the center of the park. One issue I have with the park is that it seems to have been a bit neglected in recent times. There are some overgrown weeds and unkept lawns. The 3 large fountains do not seem to be in operation anymore. Id like to see an effort made to keep this beautiful park in top shape!
