A nice little lakeside getaway from downtown Chicago, Rainbow Beach Park was a slice of serenity we needed just before the stay-at-home advisory too effect. The quiet waves hitting the sand definitely quieted the voices in my head.

It was a beautiful view watching these huge waves crashing on the shore. It was so romantic, and the weather changed quickly to sleet but it was so amazing!

Very nice park. Lots of space for grilling and socializing. Plenty of parking too.

Great place to cleanse your mind and just get out, quiet, you can walk, run, jog, hike, take the kids on a picnic or something , just a soothing place to go , when you just need some quietness in your hectic life.

A beach along a nicely wooded park with a walking/running/biking trail and splendid skyline views.

Dont like having to pay to park. Growing up in this city we didnt have to do that. The beach could use a little sprucing up. Get rid of the rocks and replace the sand with cleaner sand.

The grass could use a cut but other then that the beach was nice and clean maybe because it was closed but we sneaked in anyway.. lots of benches and picnic tables really calm sounds from the lake it was nice

Great place to walk, jog or bike. Very few others along the path. This is a somewhat hidden treasure.

Rainbow Beach Park is huge! The beach itself is probably about 4 blocks long. There is outdoor handball/raquetball, tennis and basketball courts, a field house with programming for young people, 2 beautiful nature areas and a flower garden. The Rainbow beach victory garden is also located in the park, but you must apply to become a member to gain access. This park is great and continuing to become better with time. I am from Memphis and did not know Chicago had a beach. To me its not a real beach. Yes it have a large body of water thats meets a sandy coast but there are no waves in the water like at an ocean beach. Still a nice beach to have a picnic, cool off, have fun, or just put your feet in the sand and relax. I have been to beaches that are 10 times better then this beach. I would only go again if the family wants to

Although the beach is closed, I participated with the Green Gang to clean up the garbage on the beach. It was a great experience, and they were cool with allowing us to serve.

The park district need to do a much better job cleaning the sand, too much glass in it

Its pretty but in some parts of the park there are spike like cactus that stab and stick to clothing without previous warning signs not nice My kids got stabbed with spikes as well as me :(

Beautiful beach thats apart of the Chicago experience. This beach is partially where some may look otherwise, but theres all type of gems in the city that can possibly go unappreciated. Good,bad,or indifferent,this is my city. Take it or leave it. This is CHICAGO

This is a great space with an amazing team. The warm welcome from the staff and members is definitely one of the best as far as the park districts in Chicago. The are not only youth programs that include basketball and dance, there is a high utilization of the gym. Maintenance is in par and the management is always attentive. There are also spaces around the field house to get an outside work out in. If you like the beach early morning in Chicago, this is the place for you.

Nice field house!I would not leave my childthere though. The staff come to work stoned!The manager and employees come off as aggressive and hostile. A very bad influence for children!Perpetuating a hostile mentality in Southshores youth.

I went to a baby shower there and it was great! It was warm the wash room were clean I was surprise to see how accommodating the staff was.

A nice tucked away spot in Chicago. I go here to watch the waves and take some of the best pictures of the Chicago skyline you can get

There werent as many walking/trail areas as I had hoped, but this beach and the restoration areas are beautiful. Id like to return in the spring to hopefully see migrating birds and wildflowers.

Nice amenities (restroom, showers, etc), good parking availability. Beaches have pretty coarse and somewhat uncomfortable stands. Lifeguards are present which can be a positive and a negative. Strict policing of a very near shore distance limit (approximately waist deep and 15yds from shore max) and no sports in the water is a huge downer.

I live in the neighborhood and it holds nostalgic memories of childhood and good times for me. I use it as a place of relaxation if its not crowded. I park the car and open the doors and my sunroof facing the water and watch the waves, play some good music sometimes with a tasty meal and just chill. There is a field house, activities and a trail for those who are more active

I enjoy this beach and it is usually clean. I go there to meditate in the morning and enjoy the lake and the skyline.

Its a beautiful beach..the park ok for older kids. Nice view of the other side of the city. Has parking but it pay to park. They have a handball court, basketball court, and tennis court.

It was a nice place for people to come together and have a good time, but the beach was filthy and the washrooms were flooded in the sinks and toilets, and the floor was even a bit flooded. Also, the police just ride their cars through the walking paths with no respect or consideration of the people theyre disrupting.

The parking lot rob me for$7.00 in cash so I paid$13.00 for 3hrs. I enjoy it with my granddaughter. Clean, life guard was nice and all experience was great!

Busy no frills beach with outdoor showers and seating. Grass and sandy beach areas. Shallow water to swim in season. hourly pay parking. Very pleasant.

Great place to spend time with friends and family or with yourself. Great place to BBQ, go swimming or play tag. The beach is beautiful and clean!

Small but nice fitness center. Its a really cheap place to get a great workout. The surrounding area is awesome as well. However I only went to the gym.

I come here to relax and to just unwind and be @ peace. A very relaxing place and fun to bring the entire family to have fun in the sun, sand and waters of lake Michigan.

Beach was nice. We played a frisbee tournament there on the sand. A week after the tourney I heard that the surrounding area has one of the highest homicide rates in the city. Didn’t seem that way when I was there, but see what other people have to say!

A very laid-back chill beautiful beach with a huge Park connected to it.

Its just old school for me. I went there 2 weeks ago to fly my kite. It was a cool gray day, but it wasnt that windy.

Rainbow Beach has always been family fun only thing is now you have to pay to park there you can get there by public transit which actually let you right there off inside the lake area its still a good place to take the family thats my review

Hidden gem of a park, you would never know its back there. Just wish the city would maintain it and people would pick up after their dogs!! Otherwise, its very nice.

The place itself I cant say is bad. Its just bad to live near a place like this at night. Park closes too late for an apartment building.

Totally rescaled the whole Rainbow Beach area. Good security. And its clean. The park area is a delight, and u can totally barbecue whatever food u like. Plenty of space to play family activity games too!

Nice family beach in the urban area of Chicago in which I grew up going to and still to this day I go there for peace and serenity.

Great place, Ive grown up around here and over the years its become a great place to raise children and have great outings.

Have been visiting since i was a kid and used to live on Coles. They are really building up the area and thus improving the park and beach. Gentrification has some good to it. Lol
