I saw Mean Girls at this theater. It is absolutely beautiful inside. Everyone who was working that night was very friendly. We had seats that were high up in the balcony. And while you couldnt see the actors faces, you could still see the stage and everything that was going on. However, as always, during intermission the womens bathroom lines are way too long.

Five stars to the Nederlander Theater in Chicago! I also give five stars to the organization known as Broadway in Chicago. We are so lucky to have such high-quality theater Productions in our great City thanks to Broadway in Chicago. The Nederlander Theater does not disappoint! The Acoustics are excellent, and it is a classic old-school but fully renovated theater. The Art Deco design and over the top decoration make this a destination in and of itself! We found it very easy to park right around the corner, and we were happy to be close to lots of excellent places to eat as well as to shop. I highly recommend this theater for anyone bringing family or friends to the Theater District of Chicago.

This theater is remarkably beautiful inside. I love attending plays in Chicago and this is one of my favorite theaters. It was recently renamed, it is the former Oriental Theater. The view is pretty good from most seats. There are bathrooms in each of the levels. Though theres always a line for the bathroom, it moves quickly. Each bathroom has an attendant that helps the line move efficiently. I have seen many plays here but definitely recommend A Bronx Tale.

There wasnt a bad seat in the house. Everyone could see the stage and hear the performers. As for the hall area, they had multiple bathrooms and bars available for use. The ceiling had amazing designs in it that were mesmerizing to look at before the show.

Ive been to this theatre for five or six shows over the years and Im never disappointed! Out of all the Broadway in Chicago theaters, Ive always found the friendliest staff here, and they seem to get the best touring shows, too. :) The architecture is amazing- sometimes its worth sitting in the balcony to be able to gaze at the ceiling in wonder while you wait for your show to start!

Been to this lovely theater twice this year, both times in the balcony and I gotta say that the lay out is so great that even the cheapest seats in the house have a great view. Not to mention that the theater is absolutely beautiful and it has very courteous and professional staff that has solved any problems Ive had quickly and without much of a fuss. I cant recommend catching a show here enough. Do it while youre in town.

Its amazing from the inside, love the inside, not much blocks the view, and awesome seating. We sat 2nd to the last seats but still had a blast. I only wish they had better seats (maybe a bit more leg room, or something for cups). Thats the only reason why this is getting 4 stars.

Absolutely stunning performance of Broadways Wicked. The visuals were outstanding and the music was incredible. The entire atmosphere was very classy and added to the experience. Lots of options for food in the area that offer specials for those going to the shows. The seats are a little small and not a ton of leg, but that was inconsequential compared to everything else.

Beautiful architecture! The staff were all friendly and helpful. Place was clean and well organized. Plenty of parking garages near the theater. Seats were a little small and gets cramped when the place is full. Im 511 and had very little leg room (Thank goodness for intermissions!)No outside food or drinks are allowed. They do have snacks and alcohol available in the lobby. Prices are typical for these venues, over priced.Overall, had a wonderful time and a great place for date night. Would visit again.

The James M Nederlander Theatre is my most visited theatre. Not by cognizant choice; it just happens to host all the shows I am looking to see.Every time I go I am in awe of the detailed work of such a historic building. It’s a treat in itself.Getting into and out of the theater is usually pretty easy. While there are a ton of people moving in/out it flows pretty well.

Classic Chicago theater that rivals the greats anywhere. We had unique seats in the dress circle and enjoyed the whole experience, save one.The restroom lines and lines in general, ridiculous. Intermission restroom break? Fuggeddaboudit.Prices were affordable!!!! This would normally be an automatic 5-star earning factor but the lines were that bad.But hey, we deal. Loved the musical. Liked the theater.

Came here to see Pretty Woman and was blown away by how beautiful the venue was. Acoustics were great throughout the performance and the staff was helpful before and after the show. Very well organized. Also, the leg room was very comfortable which is rare nowadays when theaters want to fit as many seats as possible! If you are planning to take an uber or cab after the show, I recommend walking to the corner of the street because it does get quite crowded in front of the theatre.

A beautiful theatre with virtually no bad seats! Excellent shows. The only thing I didnt like was that before the show we were all cramming in between the doors waiting for entry, because it was really cold outside! So I guess dont try to be too early, if you have a ticket you have reserved seats.

Such a pretty theater! All of the inside detail is beautiful and well preserved. Ive been living in Chicago for a long time but always seem to skip this theater but after finally seeing a show there I definitely need to add it to my list of favorites. The view from the main floor was very good and gave a full view of the stage.

Review №37

Originally the Oriental Theatre, the name was recently changed to honor the man who brought Broadway to Chicago (which I prefer the original name, but I understand the move). The detail of the building inside is just incredible, you could look at it for ages. Ive been to performances here in the past and have always enjoyed my experience, and it was great to be back yesterday to see Cats! I honestly never felt cramped in the lobby, bathroom, or seats, but one could definitely argue that this might not be your perception if overweight (sorry, this building was not designed in a time when that was the norm). At any rate, highly recommend experiencing this wonderful bit of Chicago culture. Drinks, snacks, and show souvenirs are available for purchase (no, theyre not the cheapest), and theres also a parking garage, though its probably better to spot hero or public transportation it.

The theater is roomy with plenty of seating areas. The stage is quite large with high tech behind the scenes for a full experience of what you are watching. They keep the theatre itself clean and everything seems like brand new. The location is pretty spotable so you wont have to worry much about getting lost. Theres also a nearby parking lot so no worries about parking. Ive just finished watching Dear Evan Hansen and the theater surroundings gave you a relaxing feeling and is quite organized. Great place to see musicals at.

What a beautiful theatre!! I had such a wonderful time seeing Anastasia here. The seats were clean and comfortable, staff was kind and helpful, and the audio and our view from our seats was great overall. The only thing is that they dont allow you to bring in your own water bottle, which is a given for many places, but just an FYI. I think there was also only one bathroom, so the womens line was very long at intermission. However, they have a couple attendants for the restroom to speed the process along and even though I was near the end of the line, I made it back to my seats with plenty of time. I would definitely go back to this theatre if I ever get the chance again, I had a lovely time.
