Acting Studio Chicago has been a great resource to hone my skills, one class after another has exceeded my expectations. Kurt Naebig’s Monologue class stands out as having been particularly impactful. Kurt helped me find well-suited monologues and a level of specificity in my work that really brought my monologues to life. A case of opportunity meeting preparation, I used a monologue I had recently worked in Kurt’s class to successfully audition for representation!Having taken taken this class in-person, hybrid and virtually, I can honestly I can say I prefer the virtual version. The level of instruction was consistent with in-person, however the amount of reps in Zoom class was greatly increased. And, as all of our work is now in the virtual world, it was also great prep for Zoom auditions. I highly recommend this class and Acting Studio Chicago!

I took all 4 of the foundational core acting class levels at ASC and LOVED all of them! My teachers were all wonderful but I particularly loved working with Sarafina, who is great at giving direction but also so encouraging. This is such a great, fun, collaborative atmosphere that encourages you to have fun with acting and learn from each other. I have met some of my close friends from attending these classes. I can’t say enough positive things about the experience- just take their classes! You won’t regret it!

Taking on camera classes with Rachael Patterson completely changed my acting career - my level of comfort in front of the camera, my confidence with agents and casting directors, and the way I was able to break down scripts (from commercials to feature films.). I leveled up after working with Rachael. Even though I no longer live in Chicago, I still take advantage of their online resources and I know that if I ever have an industry-related question, the best people to answer it are the folks at ASC.

I just finished the advanced class with Janelle Snow and it was even better than what I had heard and expected it to be. She was so brilliant, empathic, helpful, concise, and generally an incredible teacher.The handful of folks I’ve met at ASC have all been kind and helpful.I’m honestly regretting not coming in sooner. And I may very well take the same class with Janelle again or find another that she’s part of.

The experiences I have had at Acting Studio Chicago are second to none. I took the Voice Over Actor for Beginners, for I desperately needed to reinvent myself at the age of 58 years old, and Im tired of being working poor, so I thought that becoming a Voice Over Actor would be easy to do with some basic training. I was so wrong! I didnt know of the discipline, work, and professional acting skills that are needed. Acting Studio Chicagos staff and instructors are very professional, warm, friendly, and supportive of each student. The classroom is small, so each student does received individual training. The classmates are supportive too, and we had learned from each other.Norm Buchler is absolutely an outstanding Instructor. Norm is professional and very honest, but he is compassionate too. Norm interacts with each student and he will push you to be the very best that one can be while teaching the skills needed to become successful.Acting Studio Chicago really does care about each student. Youre not a money maker taking classes. The Instructors will evaluate and guide each student. You will not be kick to the curb! Nope! The Instructors will help build the self confidence needed to believe in ones self. I have already shared my experience with friends, and Im encouraging them to take the classes too.

This was my first ever acting class. Im so happy I chose to start acting here. The studio is so professional and you can tell they really care about each student. I would highly recommend taking a class here. Their website is wonderful and they offer so many resources for actors to further their career. Their workshop selection is great. Students are allowed to book one of their studios for rehearsal for class for free. A very supportive and professional environment.

I tool my first acting class ever here with Jack Bronis and totally loved it! Jack provided helpful feedback and guided us through our scenes and how to read into each character and lines. The staff were friendly and helpful as well.

Acting Studio Chicago is a place for those who are serious about learning the science of Acting. It is a professional environment that abides by the principle of excellence. As a young pastor, I chose this school to help build upon my knowledge of rhetoric in order to communicate Gods word in a more clear and effective way. $450 for a class compared to $2000 or more in regards to tuition costs for 1 class in grad school or even doctoral research is worth your investment. I chose Acting Studio Chicago in order to help prepare me for my application to get into Yale University for M.F.A in Acting. The instructors do not want to waste time, intellectually know the business, and have a passion for what they teach.

I’ve been taking random classes here for over 15 years. What I love most is the diversity in offerings over the years and quality teachers who are excited to teach & listen to their students. Just when I think there’s nothing I want to take at the moment, a new class with a new teacher & subject is offered that I’m either interested in learning about or working with the teacher (or usually both). I always look forward to the next class & happy with the experience.

ASC will always be a place I feel comfortable to perform and be myself. I’ve most recently worked with Sarafina in Level 3 of the core program, and she has been wonderful in giving each student the feedback we need in order to thrive in front of an audience. Each class has a very positive atmosphere, full of new challenges & lots of laughter. Also s/o to the office ladies for welcoming everyone in with a smile :)

I took On Camera 2 with Coby Goss and I learned so much. The class covered a wide variety of on-camera material, and it really expanded my acting training from just stage experience onto the screen. His feedback was specific and tailored to each actor. I will definitely be taking another class at ASC!

The first move I made when I returned to work after a long hiatus, was to sign up for Kurt Naebigs monologue class at Acting Studio Chicago and Janelle Snows On-Camera Workshop. These two teaching gems gave me the perfect re-introduction to the business and sharpened up my rusty skill-set PRONTO. They did it with intelligence, intuition, humor, and wells of industry experience. In the following years I have continued to take advantage of the variety of class offerings at ASC, and have had the same rewarding experience every time. This place never disappoints, really cares about their acting students, and offers quality instruction across the board with their faculty of inspiring teachers. Just finished the Level I class with Linda Gillum. Linda is an awesome instructor and coach. She encourages and directs the students to get the absolute best out of each individual. Her feedback is honest and extremely helpful. This class is terrific and definitely value for money!!!

This studio is gold! Seriously, it is one of the best studios in town for learning and crafting your acting skills. Most teachers are actual professional actors who are currently in the business. So not only you will get good education, but also great connections. The cherry on top of all is that their classes are not expensive, unlike the second city or other studios who charge $600+ for their acting classes. Highly recommend this studio if you want to improve your acting skills and get into the business.

Im a late bloomer into the Voice-over and acting world, but Acting Studio was a welcoming place to get my feet wet and figure out if I wanted to pursue things beyond the Beginner VO class. Brian P is a great instructor, who gives you useful feedback and truly wants you to work at making yourself better! He helped me determine I need to take an Improv class next, since Ive learned that Voice-over is acting - voice acting! I would encourage anyone that is just starting out or those that have been in the business awhile to get involved with the Acting Studio - I cant say enough what a welcoming environment it was for me to learn!

I took a one day workshop with AJ Links and it was, to date, the best experience I have ever had in a workshop! The level of the class was appropriate for me and everyone else in the class, the time spent was useful and efficient, and the atmosphere (aka AJ) was professional, positive, and supportive. In addition to learning a ton from her coaching myself and the other actors, AJ taught a very useful technique that I have integrated into my work. Time and money very well spent. Highly recommend this studio. I’ve taken Level 2- Level 4 so far; not only was it a fun experience, but I’ve noticed significant improvement in my acting abilities. Great instruction! Great value! My Camera 2 teacher was very engaging. I really appreciated her utilizing every bit of class time. I wish the class met more than once a week, however I truly believe after every class I left better than I was before. Staff was also very warm and understanding. I had no background in theater, acting, modeling, voice over work, etc. And the beginners voice over class with Norm was an excellent introduction into the field. In just 8 weeks, I learned a great deal of knowledge to continue working hard as I explore this new found talent and interest.

Acting Studio Chicago is amazing ! The only thing I wish they would have more of is class times for the upper core levels during the week for people who work gigs on the weekends! I took the Monologues class from Adrianne Cury and I felt so much love through the whole process! I definitely saw an improvement in my audition abilities and even booked a couple of jobs while in the class that Im not sure I would have otherwise. I feel much more prepared now and I love the warmth and down-to-Earth nature of the studio. It was all work and little talk which is perfect!

Ive only taken one class so far, but I absolutely plan on taking more. The On Camera class Ive taken was incredibly useful. I had ample time in each class to work on my scenes with very helpful notes from the teacher, and the time I spend watching others get direction and take feedback was maybe even more useful. We had plenty of time to ask industry-related questions and get insider advice on how to make it, and we always watched back everyones performances so we could really see how the scenes moved forward as actors took direction. All in all, I would absolutely recommend to anyone who asked!

The staff here is the best, they are all working so they are able to help you with the current industry standards, plus they extend the offer to help you to outside of the classroom. I have taken quite a few classes over the years at ASC and have never been disappointed. As a working actor I find it important to take classes to keep my skills sharp and keep me competitive in the business. ASC has classes for all levels for both on-camera and theatre. I am loving Script As Score taught by Marti Lyons. A relevant class taught by a relevant director.

I dont even know where to begin.I guess Ill start off by saying initially the reason I chose this studio to learn about acting was because after exploring other studios and their websites, I clicked on ASC search result and I liked the colors (green is my favorite) on the website. They had a class coming up and I followed my gut that this was the school for me so I signed up for the New Student Orientation and was blown away from energy I got from the team here at Acting Studio! All because I trusted my gut!!Here you learn acting is not about getting into character but getting into YOURSELF. And that means trusting your choices and knowing that you are good enough. I cannot describe how therapuetic this class for me has been in my personal life. Simply amazing.I am almost done with my first class and so excited to continue my training here and hone my craft. If you are having any doubts about this place, toss em in the River downtown on your way here!!!

I walked in apprehensive and was greeted by Fiona. She immediately put me at ease with her warm smile and friendly attitude. I learned so much in the Adults level 1 class that I did not hesitate to register for the next level. Classes are just big enough to not feel overwhelming, and small enough so that you will learn your classmates names. My favorite thing is that all the instructors go out on auditions and are working actors.....so, who better to teach!? Definitely the place to be if you are serious about the craft of acting.

Decent instruction. But the customer service on part of administration could use work. They seem to care about policy more than they do about their actual students, and their attitude borders on snobbish. Their attendance policies are strict and draconian. If you fail to meet the policies you are dropped from the class. I had some issues come up and I was unable to make some classes. When I tried to address my concerns, the director didnt listen to my situation and hinted that she wanted me to go away by saying I have work to do. Acting Studio is one of the more expensive studios here in Chicago. At the least for the money Im paying I could get friendlier staff that understands that students have a life outside of the acting class they are taking at the moment. Im saving my money for a different acting studio.

Their voiceover class with Norm Boucher was very helpful! His tips got me paying gigs!

Acting Studio Chicago feels like the epicenter of the Chicago acting scene.My On-Camera class with Rachael Patterson expanded my knowledge and vocabulary about the industry of commercial acting, and she devoted so much personal attention to each individual in the class as well. We were each given scripts for commercials and different types of TV/Film, selected based on our personalities/types, and in class we recorded each one several times with lots of constructive criticism. It was extremely challenging for me, but my teacher never let me feel like I couldnt succeed. Im excited to explore the variety of classes Acting Studio offers in other fields, as well as continuing in their on-camera track.Additionally, their open-door policy and the welcoming atmosphere in the studio makes it feel like a lifelong resource for actors. I took Class here recently for on Camera I with Doug McDade. The location is easy to get to, its just a block off the red line. The office is very organized and they know their students. Got my name down after just a few short weeks.This is a great acting studio for beginners and pros.

From the New Student orientation night (where I learned I really knew nothing about acting) to Camera, Theater, Monologue and Voice Over, what I have learned has really helped me become a better actor and was the kickstart for 4 plays, 3 understudies and 2 musicals in less than 2 years (not to mention film and on camera work). The approach/method is a very practical method, based on choosing repeatable transitory actions (actions that are done to your scene partners, such as to belittle, to entreat, to command, etc.). The results are consistency in your performance as you start, and the ability (as you learn to action more quickly) to make solid and bold choices on the fly.

My experience and training at ASC has been a tremendous contributing factor to my success as a stage actor and voice over talent. Since taking Kurt Naebigs and Dados Advanced Scene Study classes over a year ago and with Kurts private monologue coaching, I have been in back to back shows with quality theatre companies in Chicago and consistently get called back after auditions. And after working with Dave Leffel and Jeff Lupetin in VO I and II, I was signed with Lilys and booked two gigs in three months time. And the staff could not be more friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend and strongly encourage actors of any skill set to take advantage of the classes and coaching at ASC.
