Great Chicago bar; located off Rush & Division its only about 6 bucks for a cab from Millennium Park. Theyve got great drink specials. Ive been here at least 5-6x but most recently on Halloween, it was snowing so it didnt start to fill up till about 1am. We got there at 11 so plenty of time to play beer pong before the bar got packed!Great service & bartenders! Always had a good experience.The bathroom is located on the bottom floor which I believe is only open on certain busier nights and basically doubles the size of the bar.

Good 80s music, low cover, two different dance floors with different music. Responsive bartenders. Only minor thing was people on the dance floor platform not dancing just crowding it, still as a statue taking space while others were trying to groove. Fun times altogether though, would return.

Ruff start outside at the door...Wouldnt let us smoke under the heat lamps on a sub zero night. Mite I add there was no one in line. After finding our way downstairs to the small bar outside the ladies restroom we settled in with the friendliest bartender Vinny. It was a Friday night and not to busy so we had lots of time to talk and get to know him. After a min. The other wait staff started warming up to us. My BFF took me for my 50th bday and I must say...its not a bar for older people BUT MY BFF MADE SURE WE HAD A GREAT TIME!We ended up going back Sat. Night too. Saturday was kinda packed. Racism and discrimination ! If you are white or a girl, you will be fine at this place. If not, expect the worst experience ever. Save your night out and go to a better place. I suggest shenanigans - nice people & fun time.

Cool place, I’m not much a dancer but this place gets pretty packed. 2 floors of different music. Bathrooms are small. The staff and bouncer are nice, just don’t be sloppy and there won’t be a problem. Stays open til early morning on weekends.

Back in the day my co-workers and I would be there every Friday, then one of us would win the trivia contest and get a free party for the following week. Good times!

Hadnt been here since the late 80s. Still a great bar. We had a blast with dear friends. As my kids say, its dope!

Their broke security tried to charge $8 to use the restrooms in the basement. When I refused to pay to use the restroom, they threw me out. I would not recommend this club to ANYBODY. Be wise and spend your money at another late night club that appreciates your $20 ,cover charge. This one definitely does not.

Love these. old chicago bars! the basement is beautiful and the staff are so incredibly nice. Only major downside is that they serve EVERYTHING in plastic cups, even shots. I know they do it because its a dance bar to avoid all the glass and stuff (I also work in food service so I know how big of a disaster thatd be). Thing is; if youre gonna do it, at LEAST get biodegradable cups or SOMETHING, its so shamelessly wasteful. This is the only reason I cant justify going back.

Nice place for dancing our just hanging out considering they have two levels and different music playing on each level. So if you like dance music, stay upstairs. If you prefer rock, then go downstairs. This is a place for almost everyone to enjoy. I still say that the drinks are quite expensive, hence the reason I moved to ciders ($2.50 less than a mixed drink, which is ridiculous!). Overall, my husband & I had a good time there! I danced with the other women on the dance floor while he watched...it was all good!

I used to love this place, it would be the highlight of the night, everyone ending up in the downstairs area singing rock anthems til our voices were hoarse. But the past few years its gotten worse and worse. The place is always packed, which has always been the case, but it seems the quality of people is lower. A lot of tourists and suburbanites that tend to drink too much and act out. Combine that with a security staff thats just itching to get physical with anyone, and you have a recipe for disaster. My last experience of being shoved to the ground for no reason by a bouncer when I was walking out the door has put the nail in the coffin for me. It was a great run but this place has lost its soul.

Love this dive bar, only 5 dollars to get in. Music is awesome, always a great time here. When in the chi I always stop here, just sucks when I have too wake up the next morning.

Best place in Chicago to go to dance on a Wednesday or Thursday night. Good music and reasonably priced drinks for the city. Ive been there alone and with friends and had a great time either way.

Prices like everywhere in Chicago, music choices can be a little more modern and organized: Id say a half of the transitions actually worked well. There was a surprising amount of middle-aged people for a club, but the overall athmosphere was quite nice. The bouncers are surprisingly helpful and friendly. Make sure you manage to get there before the cover goes up though - it is not worth $20 for sure.

We went out for ladies night and we had such a blast. Art is so professional and nice and made our night MEMORIABLE. Jason was such a sweetheart! Definitely if you are in the area, stop by. You wont regret it.

The go-to late-night dance bar in Gold Coast. Be prepared to wait in line. Once inside, you have a modern-music dance floor on the main level AND a retro-hits dance floor on the lower level. Good times!

Nice food and drinks

Really rude staff. I was there on a Saturday night very slightly tipsy after a formal celebration and was walking up the stair when all of the sudden a bouncer grabbed me by the arm, took my drink and pushed me out the door. I promise I was not being rude, not too drunk I honestly was shocked and dont know what happened. All I can think of was I stepped over my dress a little and maybe looked like I was drunk??? Either way the bouncer would not explain himself at all after several requests and forced me out for no reason. This was about 20 minutes after wed paid a $20 cover to get in which was not refunded.

Fun dancing... people get a little sloppy but good for a few hours.

Told the bouncer not to grab me by the waist or manhandle my friends. He got in our face and told us if we had a problem we could leave, so we did. Will never be back.

Every time Ive been here weve had a great time. People of all ages come here. Its a dive bar where your feet stick to the floor. They play rock on the lower level and current hits on the main floor. We come early to avoid the long lines and get a table. Wish the dance floor was bigger, gets so crowded and you cant dance or move. Stick to bottled beer, mixed drinks are not good.

They used to play awesome old school music videos on the TVs. It was super cool and they completely stopped doing that which was the main appeal for me to go there. They still play good music but the videos really made the bar unique.

Always had a good time here. Two levels that Play different music. Upstairs plays top 40 and downstairs plays oldies. Five buck cover if you show up earlier and ten if you come later. Since it doesnt get busy until later, I recommend paying five bucks, getting a stamp, going to another club and coming back. This will let you skip the line and walk right in.

My friends and I went here for New Years and paid for tickets. The tickets promised a midnight countdown, champagne toast, and party favors. NONE of this actually happened. Terrible bar with creepy people and bad service, save yourself money and time and don’t come here.

Fun if you want to make out with random people you will never see again. Some of the guys were a little creepy and grabby in my opinion. Definitely a singles bar. Too loud to talk, but they do have drink deals on certain nights which made it semi affordable. As two of my friends and I were leaving it was pouring down rain and the staff would not let us wait under their awning. If you go, make sure you have already gone to a couple other bars first. Arriving before 2 am at this place is not that great.

Usually, going to a bar is a drag because the same kind of music is always playing. When I was there, the street level dance floor had modern music and the basement level had Classic Rock. If I got tired of a certain type of music or song I simply went downstairs. Very cool concept, and I had a great experience. Definitely give it a try.

Really fun dancing but alcohol is pretty expensive and due to it being so packed the bar tender couldnt pay much attention to us and ended up giving doubles when we only asked for singles.

Packed weekend hot spot with djs and music for all ears! This club is worth the short line to pay a small cash cover for the best vibes in a one of a kind late night, multi-level, must go destination if you want to have the best time ever!!

Love this place! Recently attended a wedding here in the downstairs big space and it was awesome. The staff has always been super friendly at this dive bar.

Get ready to wait in line! Hangge Uppe is fun but there is always a substantial line to get in, especially if this is your late night spot. Stays open until 4, so thats nice, but then you also get the 4 am type crowd, so be prepared. Its very easy to have fun here.

Normally its a good time, but two friends got kicked out tonight after spending a MINUTE by the bar trying to figure out where the rest of the group was and whether or not they would get another drink.We get it; capacity needs to be managed on Saturday nights, but if someone needs a minute to figure things out, it shouldnt result in them being asked to leave.

Its the late night dive bar for when you dont want to go home before 5am. The floors are sticky so be careful if you are wearing open toe shoes. Upstairs is more current music and downstairs is all 80s

Went to the Hangge Uppe for ladies night and Art was such an awesome guy and we had so much fun even before we entered the building. Jason was also super cool!

The music was great and I liked how they had throwback music in the basement and modern music upstairs. There are cameras that point to a stage in the basement, so if youre dancing up there, just know that people can see on monitors in the room next to the stage area by the other bar.Just a warning, they charge for water. Probably only on weekends, but prepare to spend a lot of money if you want a few drinks, some water, and to check in your coat. I paid a $10 cover to get in, $6 for water, $20+ for a few drinks (2 or 3), and $5 for coat check.

Great dive-y bar with several bars to get drinks, upstairs and downstairs, both have big dance floors to do whatever you prefer doing on a dancefloor (dancing, creeping, etc) Not expensive at all, considering the area, cover charge starts at 10pm, and thats when it starts getting busy anyway. Great spot.

Stay away from this bar unless you want trouble. Last weekend one of the bouncers kicked me and my girlfriend out because she wouldnt dance with him. We left peacefully, but the bouncer was furious. We went outside and then the bouncer hit her in the face, open palm, but she still went down to the ground.I understand that sometimes it might require force to remove disorderly drunk people, but there is no reason for any worker to hit a girl. I never thought I would see anything like that happen, and I hope it doesnt happen to anyone else.For all I know, that angry bouncer still works there, so please be careful!

Art is a very responsible and caring manager. He’s courteous and hospitable to all the visitors at the Hangge Uppe. I love taking Chicago visitors to the Hangge Uppe because it really shows them the taste of Chicago’s night life!! When you visit, ask for Jason! He will take care of your night to make sure it’s a lot of fun!

Best party bar in Chicago... HANDS DOWN! Good mixed crowd with friendly staff. Went here to finish up the nite with a bachelor party. Had one of the best nights ever(from what I remembered)!!

Brutal and rude service. Im pretty sure the tequila was watered down. Basically the epitome of any bar youre sorry you walked in to.

My friend was drugged while we were here. Staff didnt care and rushed us out. The bouncer at the door refused to connect us with anyone. Calls to the office went unreturned. If something happens to you here, expect to be stonewalled.

This could be a really great bar but the staff ruined it. I went there with a bunch of coworkers on a dead Tuesday night. The staff should have been excited to see the flood of people coming in ready to spend money and tip well, but we were treated to the worst service Ive ever encountered.

I wish I could give no stars! Im breastfeeding (and need to stay hydrated) and I was not given free tap water here. They charged $5 cover, which was fine, but then wanted to charge me for bottled water. When I complained they refused and said it was policy. What if I was pregnant or an alcoholic or severely dehydrated?! Ridiculous!! I even showed the security camera my breast pump, but the bar tender said it didnt matter.

I felt like I was back in college going there. Everyone just had fun drinking and dancing to all types of music.

This bar is always highly entertaining for people watching.

This should be your last stop on your Friday or Saturday night group excursion and you havent had enough dancing. You will be able to dance your heart out to at least 10 of your favorite hit songs from the last 3 decades with total strangers slinging their arms around your shoulders and mass karaoke-ing at the top of their lungs. Beware of broken glass on the floor, overcrowding, a long line and $5 cover after 2am, weird smells in dark corners and drunk strangers touching you.
