I went to the Jazz showcase with friends who had an interest in Jazz. While I am not a fan of Jazz, I appreciated it the decor and ambience of the venue. I will leave the commentary of the Jazz to those more learned in the art!

I had a good experience here. The place was cozy and the music was really good. Limited cocktails on the menu but they did have a full bar so the bartender can make anything you want.

Nice and cozy place to hang out. I like how the sound is loud enough to immerse you but you can still maintain a conversation. Our server was extremely courteous and professional, very quick with orders and always checking up on us. The cocktails were quite tasty as well!!

A cozy and historic venue with outstanding staff and amazing artwork on the walls. Sound in the venue is pretty good for being a small place, and the local band we saw was great.

Great music. The worst seats to sit in! They are the most uncomfortable seats in all Chicago’s music venues. The person next to you should be a close friend as they will be practically sitting in your seat. Come on you been around forever break down and get some new seats and space them out a little.

This was the second of 2 live music venues I visited the same night. Its true what other reviews say and that there really are no bad seats, that said we still went for the cup seats and were seated steps away from the stage with a perfect view of the entire quartet. Drinks were a bit on the pricier side compared to other places but the atmosphere and acoustics in the place were awesome.

We saw The Pat Martino Trio. This place is much more open and has many love seats and big couches. Green Mill, in comparison, is packed too tight for big names. This is a great jazz venue. The only choice for dinner nearby is Bar Louie, or Pizza by the slice.Service and cocktails are perfect. You can dress up, or be a slob. Anything goes.Im not saying its fancy. I mean some of those couches could leave spring imprints on your butt. Lord only knows how many drinks have been spilled on them. Its too dark to see any dirt. Just a small votive on each table for lighting. Its a jazz club. Its exactly how its supposed to be.

My first experience in my ever life and in Chicago.I just heard thay Jazz was so special in Chicago and so I tried the Jazz bar. There is an entrance fee ( 25dollars but maybe dependent) but the circumstances told me thay it is worth. At first, I could not fully enjoy what they are doing and how to enjoy but very soon I could enjoy the entire performance. The bartender and staff were so so nice and kind. Recommend to those who do not know Jazz like me

We saw a quartet that was amazing! Very talented musicians in a venue that feels old school and authentic. The cover was $20 per person, but theres no drink minimum and the show was definitely worth it! The bar and service staff were attentive, and theres late night food close by that you can bring into the venue. Thank you for a great Chicago experience!

I was in this club in June 2017 and had the priviledge to enjoy great jazz music in one of the most classic jazz venues in the US. Still keeps the flavour of the old-style small clubs. The atmosphere there is amazing, the owner used to introduce himself the artists with his personal touch...

The space is perfect to enjoy traditional jazz; not crowded, comfortable seating, a wonderful bar and great bar prices! Oh, yes, and the music doesnt get any better. Our hostess was also very accomodating. Saturday nights show took on a whole level with some very personal stories around a few if the tunes done by the pianist. Better than ANY jazz venue I have attended in NYC! Not my first and, hopefully, not my last visit to this Chicago landmark!

Cool venue, but chairs were uncomfortable and I wasnt a fan of the quintet. I played percussion growing up, have always loved jazz, and like supporting musicians, but would have preferred classic tunes over original pieces.Like any good jazz club, expect to pay 16 to $20 a drink with T&T.

The music was great. The venue was very relaxed, and the service was great. However, note that even though they are open till 2 am, the live music stopped around 11:30. We arrived around 11:15pm, and they acted like the did us a huge favor by dropping the cover charge to $15 per person, but we only got to see about 15 minutes of live music. It’s definitely worth it if you show up close to the beginning of a set time, but it’s not a good place to drop in later on during the night.

Review №65

This music was really great, but the service was horrible. The server will cut you off of drinks if she suspects you of drinking before getting to the show. Had a bad experience of coming in and ordering two drinks before getting cut off for getting off the stool the wrong way. If someone didnt get off the bar stool within their standard, you shouldnt get cut off from drinking. Personally, I felt unwelcome there after getting cut off from a second drink. There are better jazz bars/clubs that have great music and a welcoming staff.

This is what every jazz venue wishes it could be. Intimate, warm, sensual. The room acoustics are phenomenal. The lightest most gentle note sneaks into the audience and leaves room for its big bombastic brother without overwhelming or hiding. The staff are excellent, the drinks delicious and reasonable, the seating comfortable and uncrowded. The guests were there for the music, for the experience. Well mannered, well dressed, well equipped to enjoy the soundscape presented.Attend a a set or two at the Showcase. You wont regret it.
