This was a great spot but I dont know if Id return. I made my reservation for seven, and I got a return call saying that if a party with bottle service needed my table, Id have to give it up since I wasnt buying a $300 bottle of alcohol. Luckily they werent even filled to half capacity when I went, so I was able to enjoy my entire meal without having to relinquish my table. But the threat of that happening would stop me from returning or recommending this place. And thats a shame because the food was great and the DJ was on point!!!

Went here for their VIP opening party!The space itself is gorgeous, especially the front seating area.Its a sports bar that features specialty cocktails by beverage director @mike_finnegan and delicious food by Executive Chef Melva Jarvis (contestant on Food Networks Guys Grocery Games.The bar is the focus and located in the middle. There are big comfortable booths that surround the bar area and we didnt have any problem finding seats.The music is an eclectic mix of different genres, that was very enjoyable and easy on the ears.We had attended a previous event, so we got there a little late. It was so packed we only were able to get some food, couldnt get close to the bar to get a drink.The food that we were able to sample was delicious! We had crab cake poppers, cocktail shrimp, and brisket sliders. Such great food for a sports bar!

I remember the previous club called Room 7 in this space and I didnt care to return, mainly because of the crowd/vibe. I decided to give Play a shot with some friends after hearing some good things. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised! The ambiance was very upscale and there was a great looking crowd to match.The drinks and food tasted just as good as their great presentations. The biggest asset of this place is its great staff. In particular, Mr. Foster was very accommodating and made my group feel very welcome. He went above expectations to make sure we were taken care of. Small things like that go a long way and I feel like Play is a place to frequent from now on.

This was the worst experience I’ve ever had in my life. We Reserved a inside table and upon arrival we were placed outside. There were bee’s everywhere and as we stood to swat the bee’a we were constantly pestered by security to sit down as if fee were children. The food chicken and waffles, breakfast fries and the breakfast burger and side of sausage was not that hot. We were constantly in verbal abused by security because they were scared they police would take pictures of us standing up swatting bees without a mask even tho we were still at our table. NOT WORTH YOUR TIME OR MONEY. And the unlimited mimosas were mostly orange juice.

One of the best clubs in Chicago hands down. Great DJ, 24k Gold wings, the walls light up and pulse to the music. Non stop fun. Cant wait to go back.

They should stop promoting these brunches and day parties. This was the most unorganized event I’ve ever been at. The tables outside and you couldn’t even hear the music ! If you were inside you couldn’t even stand up at your table an dance. Everyone understand COVID guidelines but to be told you can’t stand at your table or get kicked out is absurd! They only allowed 6 at a table but tables had 7-15 people. Oh you could only have more than 6 people if your ordered bottle service . They are money hungry and their security takes their jobs way to seriously. They made the entire experience uncomfortable!

This place is great and relaxing. Especially to that amazing barternder, Ashley. She is a great server.

I went last week and truly enjoyed the vibe. I took my customers and we all enjoyed ourselves a lot. Amena was our waitress and did a wonderful job keeping us hydrated and entertained! Definitely going to become a regular spot.

Been here a few times! Always enjoying the music and drinks. I was there randomly on a Saturday and when one of the bartenders was telling me how they had Chris Brown coming the week after, I was very excited and I did stay in touch with him, I think his name was Nico and he was so kind he did text me the link to purchase tickets. My friends and I got ours and we attended! He was my bartender again that night! Love the staff and the vibe!

On 2/22/2020 my little sisters and I came out to celebrate our sister birthday. My sister paid for a section and bottle service. My little sisters and I experienced the worst greeting and customer service at this place. From the time we walked up to get in line the security guards was very aggressive and rude. We couldnt even ask them a simple question without one of the security guard being rude. Once we finally got inside the security guards inside was even rude. I dont know if its because were women or African American but their customer service was very unprofessional. Well never come back here again.

Loved the DJ and atmosphere for bottomless brunch, but not a big fan of food. The food was lackluster and took an hour to come out. We had to send the burger back because it was medium-rare vs medium-well. The shrimp and grits should be grits and shrimp as my six small shrimp were placed delicately around lumpy bland grits. The chix n waffles seemed like boxed waffles. The server was nice and accommodating with the slow kitchen.

I remember this place back when it was Leg Room, before it was Room 7! What a nice fresh new look! They did a stunning job on the decor. Drinks were gorgeous and the women that work there are absolutely delicious and I think I fell in love with a few. Or maybe it was the other way around? Food was great too. I had a few of their specialty cocktails that they offer before 10 and one was an actual pickled scorpion that if you are bold enough you eat and the other was some sort of absolute elixir served in a copper chalice. I’m a bourbon drinker normally but man did i enjoy that drink. Place was new, maybe a couple weeks open, and not that busy but looking forward to being there more and I’m sure this place will be crazy inside once the word gets out. Met the GM, Shank I believe, extremely hospitable and I wish he and his crew the best of luck with the new place!!!!

If I could rate this establishment 0 stars, i would. The male staff/bouncers were rude from the moment my friends and I walked in line until the moment we voluntarily left. We were cursed out, touched inappropriately and threaten to get put out numerous of times within a 3 hour time span. You would think being from the same ethic background (African American) as the male bounces that youd immediately feel relieved and safe. ABSOLUTELY NOT!! My friends and I experience was the total opposite. I would never visit this establishment again, and I would advise others not to either. I will be reaching out soon to a manager or owner regarding my experience this past weekend (2/22/2020)

Excellent place to watch a game!

Absolutely one of the worst establishments I have viewed this year so far, customer service? Forget about it. some of the rudest staff members including the general manager and security I have come across within nightlife scene in Chicago. They will confiscate your belongings and refuse to give it back. Food made me sick almost immediately after an hour after eating is. I would not recommend this place to absolutely nobody. You have been warned.

I live in the Gold Coast and it’s the best new edition to this neighborhood!!! The ambiance is super contemporary and chill! They have great food and their specialty drinks are fun and unique! Its like a sports bar slash night club slash hip restaurant. Love it!

This place was amazing! We went to celebrate a birthday and got so much more. The music, drinks and atmosphere was amazing, but their Chef was the star of the night with those 24k gold wings. Its a great place to party, if youre in Chicago!

The hosts were very rude to my guests. We arrived with a group of 19 at around 11:00pm, at which time the total bar attendance was about 20. The bartenders attempted to make us pay a cover, despite the fact that we had cleared a plethora of security guards, and had a 15:4 girl to guy ratio. Very unprofessional, I do not recommend

Play has some of the best food Ive had at a sports bar/ club. And I stayed for the club when it got late and they play great music . The staff is awesome and the owner I believe his name mert is a very nice guy . I will for sure be back with some friends in the near future for those steak skewers!!

The worst experience of my life thus far. Set up reservations for VIP service. Ordered 10 bottles expected to get great service. Such a disconnect and unprofessionalism from the outside security. No one on the same page. You would think someone who spends 3k in one night you would expect to get great service. Half of my party was not able to get in. Had to wait in line, couldnt find my name in the system, asked for a refund was able to get somewhat of my money back since we cut off bottle service right away, should have gotten a full refund back. Will never go back to this place and do not reccomend it for anyone trying to throw a party here.

Food was amazing! Especially the southwest eggrolls! Stardust cocktail was delicious too! Very cool lighting/ambiance!

Play Chicago Kitchen needs to train their bartenders. The worst service Ive ever had in Chi was right here. The first round was fine, a Corona and water is $8 and thats a simple $2 tip. He asked me Id I wanted a water bottle or a glass filled. The next round was a Moscow and a water for my girlfriend, the middle-aged man throws a water bottled and begins to make my Moscow, without asking about the water. I politely say over the bar May I have fountain water in a glass? He puts ice in a glass and points for me to open the bottle and pour the one he threw at me. After stating I will not be having a water at all, body language suggesting *hey, this is for my girlfriend whos clearly had enough to drink tonight* he takes the bottle away, doesnt give us a water and says $10 for the Moscow Mule, no water at all. I STILL agreed to this, gave him a 10, and he returns with $8. HE TIPPED HIMSELF. I almost laughed because I felt so bad, I gave another $1 to be cordial and stared him directly in the eyes. He then proceeded to slowly pour a water. Finally the last bartender, my gf asked for a Moscow and a water, but instead asked how much it would be before buying it. He said $12. Then she said oh gosh really, I thought it was a bit cheaper (Just to test the waters). He hands the Mug to another bartender, new guy starts making the drink and first guy, acting confused, goes and asks How much are Moscows usually?! The new bartender says oh yeah these, around here.... $14. Im like B**** what kind of 20% inflation in 12 seconds s*** voodoo magic are you playing. The new tender POURS the ice with a tiny bit of squeezed lime on it, back into the ice bin when we stated what what did yo raise the price!? Leave it to say I left Play Chicago Kitchen The Club Mixtape Vol. 2 looking a** joint for the last time. I really liked the atmosphere though, the room looks cool RGB lit and has a simple layout. The security and bouncers were friendly. They lets us in free for the McGreggor Cowboy fight which was nice and obviously short lived then immediately changed the video and sound over to music before watching any congratulatory speaking which looked money thirsty and people ohhed and ahhhed over that for a bit. They turned every screen into a still image and immediately obnoxiouslh loud music without a ease into it after our ears were in a *listening to talking and fighting action* mode. Im not completely over the place, just the bartenders. Overall, they need a new GM who will train these tender nuggets to serve more elegantly.

Play is definitely the best spot in Gold Coast because it’s unlike any bar in the area. all of the walls are lined in LED lights which makes it look amazing and the cocktails are unreal!!

The security staff was unprofessional. Was told I would not get belongings back from the security guard himself. Then when it was addressed to management they flipped out on my boyfriend and kicked me out. Saying false statements like my boyfriend “threatened all the staff members” when the manager was cussing him out and started everything for simply confirming that I would get my belongings back when I left. Then when I was kicked out the manager said i would of gotten everything back when I left, which I knew was a lie because my brother was there the week before and literally got his pockets ran and security confiscated personal items of his and refused to give it back. So just don’t plan on going there with anything that you value. As far as management goes obviously the manager was flustered for whatever reason considering it was not even busy for a Friday night, but still has no right to speak the way he did to my boyfriend or me. I will not be coming back here, even though he offered me and my group free drinks and bottles next time but wouldn’t even let me back in that night?! Makes zero sense.
