Totally disappointed with the Black Harvest 2020. I paid for a movie, the Outside Story, about a month ago. Was told an email notification would come once it was released, which was November 7. Its Nov. 15 and I have nothing from Gene Siskel-Black Harvest. I went to the site to try and see the movie and was asked to pay again. The site was locked asked for payment. So I asked for help and was told that my time had expired they had to unlock it. (But the time expired to see it was through November 20) When I went to the site to see the movie it was a TRAILER for a movie, 2 minutes long. I could ask for my money back, but I will consider it a donation to Black Harvest and wont sign up again for any movies.

My friends and I were planning to watch movies yesterday. We have a hard time what to decide to watch because there are a lot of movies to choose from. There are some romantic movies, horror movies, and comedies. After debating, we did choose and paid the tickets. Their ticket attendant was very friendly and very pleasing. She is great!

I havent had many opportunities to attend events at the Gene Siskel Film Center, but when I have, Ive never been disappointed. I check out listings regularly. Everything from vintage movies, to drag events, sing alongs, business conferences that require a stage and screen. I find most events to be lively, entertaining or informative. Its a landmark! I highly recommend it

An amazing institution. I saw bits of an Alec Guinness retrospective back in 2015 here. Siskel and Ebert did more than most to elevate cinema to a serious art form, and its great theyve honoured him with this fantastic place. I hope therell always be a place for serious curation.

I saw Fleabag here and the place is really nice. The bathrooms were clean, even with the crowds Fleabag brought, and the seats were decently comfortable. The staff was very friendly and although the sound system in the theater didnt really compare to a regular movie theater I will be looking out for more international movies to watch here!

Spend - Wonderful experience of film War at Home, and a panel discussion. Clean and spacious facility. Small theater good for discussions. Plenty of room where you can meet with a group before or after your film. Staff were great and resourceful. Nice selection of snacks, drinks, and popcorn. Reasonably priced for a theater and a beautiful facility. My Raisinets were kind of old though (that is my only critique.) Make this your next date night.Give me a thumbs up if you found my review helpful.

This is one of the good theaters that show documentaries and movies that are meant to watch. This last time we came to see brimstone and glory and we wont have seen the documentary anywhere else. The place is welcoming. They have a cafeteria and chairs to relax before or after the movie. There are two screens and the chairs are comfortable. They also offer discounted parking near by. Will come and see more movies or documentaries.

One of a kind. This is a wonderfully curated movie house. The very definition of a Art House theater. You cannot see the movies that they show here anyplace else. Foreign films, documentary films, independent films, classic Hollywood etc. This is a cinephiles dream. Become a member and you get great discounts and you help support the place. Win win. Warning though. The main theater is about 10 times better (roughly speaking) than the auxiliary theater. But what are you going to do about it. You bear with it and enjoy the movie.

So fun and quaint. The seats are comfortable and the popcorn doesnt cost $37 for a small, I think it was $8 for a large box of pop corn. Great for those rare and hard to find art films. The staff can be a bit off putting and snotty. I am not sure if it is because they are poorly managed, or because they are apathetic. The popcorn it terrible. It is dry and way over priced. Be sure to get to the box office earlier on the weekends and for limited runs, as tickets go fast, and the theaters (only 2) are small.

Outstanding venue and location. The seats are not as comfortable as I might have liked, but it was a great experience. There are no obstructions to the screen, the audio/sound reinforcement/Dobly is great and the assembled audience seems to be conscientious, respectful and totally relaxed. The lobby is a nice, moderately sized area with chairs and tables when you can enjoy a snack, buy paraphernalia and engage others. Great place to see any movie, let alone first run or Indies.

This theater is run by the School of the Art Institute and is exactly what you would imagine from that institution. Lots of good contemporary, foreign, experimental, and classic films and documentaries. Some of the movies are overrated and the artist programs are hit of miss either very inspiring or pretentious and dull. Overall this is a reasonably priced small upscale theater.

A program of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Siskel shows a variety of classics, foreign films, themed film series, and other types of presentations. Seats are comfortable and spacious. There is a lounge area with tables and chairs by the concession stand, which sells a variety of items, including beer. Events occasionally include a pre- or post-presentation lecture with an individual associated with the film or another expert. The theater is conveniently located by the Lake and State L stop.

I have been here with my family a couple of times, and it was wonderful!First of all, the location is fabulous. Across the street is the Chicago Theater with its huge light-up sign. Right next door to the Film Centre is a local news affiliate, where you can watch the news readers at their desk, plus there are TVs in the window which display what is on that television channel at the moment. Next to that is a local ESPN (sports radio and television) affiliate, where you can likewise watch the hosts at their desk from the street outside. Then there is the Film Center itself. They play many foreign and independent films, and often have the director or another important person for the movie visit and have a question-and-answer session after the film, as part of their Movie Club. When I saw the Tom of Finland biopic last week, they had had the director (a Finn himself, and so not able to be there in person) host a Q&A over Skype. I wasnt able to attend that particular screening, I went on the last night of its run. I was amazed by the turnout of the local Leather community even on the last night, many in their full regalia... And the man who took our tickets was himself a Leather boy, wearing a cute arm cuff. The other people working that night also appeared to be members of the LGBT+ community, which felt really good... Like the audience, the hosts, and the filmmaker were all one big family.I also found customer service to be excellent, I had difficulty buying my tickets online and then getting in touch with anyone, as it was after business hours, and the final showing of the movie I wanted to see was the next evening. I sent out an (unfortunately rather catty) email, and got a response early the next day, and attempt to help me buy a ticket. Fortunately, I was able to have a friend buy the tickets for me, but I really appreciated it and felt bad about letting my irritation show in my initial email. The only warning I have is that most, if not all, films have only one showing per night, and I think there are only two films screened at a time. This means that many films sell out quickly and so I recommend buying tickets ahead of time. It would be very disappointing to arrive and the show is sold out!
