We went on a cool wet October day. Nice displays and plenty of things to check out. Very informative. The glass house has unique foliage. The waterfalls are beautiful and serene. There were more butterflies than we could imagine. There were benches setup in great locations to view the best parts. We spent 2-1/2 hours strolling through and enjoying the sights and sounds.

Very enjoyable and relaxing place to visit. I liked most things about this butterfly house. There are enough trails to walk around and ample space for seatings. A lot to so around here. Good for family day trips as well. Will definitely visit again. Keep up the good work.

The Butterfly House is a fantastic place to visit, especially if you have children. The staff are warm and engaging and there are often lots of activities for children, including some neat crafts. Admission is reasonably priced, but if you plan to visit more than once a membership is highly recommended -- keep in mind that it includes membership at the Missouri Botanical Garden as well!

Always a fun and beautiful place to visit! I come here frequently with my family to enjoy the large playground, the 1800s village, carousel and of course the butterfly house. Even in the waning days of winter you can still enjoy the beautiful butterflys in the conditioned greenhouse complete with orchids, waterfalls and blooming flowers.

This is an amazing place. They import butterflies constantly so there are hundreds flying around all year. The orchids and water features are beautiful. Its relatively small but you can spend hours here if youre looking to photograph some butterflies and plant life. Plus in spring and summer I would bet the outdoor butterfly garden is amazing. Kids will love it.

Such a huge variety of butterflies in the conservatory, and it was a big size house as well! Also, I could stay for as long as I wanted!!! There were lots of activities for kids to do, too. For $8 as an adult, it was worth it, especially since I like to professional style of photos. Lots of opportunities to take shots. I will post some in a few days when I get back from vacation. The staff was great, too. Very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. Lastly, I was actually surprised how many butterflies landed on me. I stood still so others could take pictures. I will post one now. The one thing to be mindful of is dont touch the butterflies at all. If they land on you dont touch their wings they have a substance on them that actually helps them fly.

Take a trip to the tropics right here in St. Louis! The Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House is perfect any time throughout the year. Educate yourself and your kids about the beautifully colorful pollinators that have inspired the imagination of dreamers and artists alike throughout history. The opportunities for incredible photographs and the activities for the little ones make these smaller, less familiar creatures a bit more accessible.

They have different insects and bugs that the kids can learn about. Theres a big tank of roaches that is always a favorite with the kids. The butterfly conservatory is beautiful with topical plants and the temperature is warm. You are asked to check for any hitchhiking butterflies when you leave. The two gentleman working there were very friendly and great with the kids. There were volunteers sitting in the hallway that shared information with the kids about pollinators. Theres also a beautiful outdoor butterfly garden.

Fun but definitely geared towards smaller kiddos than mine. We spent about an hour here and for $31 admission, wouldve liked to have had more to do! It was COLD and windy so we skipped the whole outdoor portion. Theres also a super nice park nextdoor we didnt get to visit because of the weather. Overall Id recommend it if you only have a short time to fill or have smaller kids, but definitely not enough to fill a whole day.

Went to butterfly house last Saturday as it’s near and a good option during last days of winter.I felt it is a good place for kids. The butterfly room has lots of butterflies of different varieties.they have new butterflies release program every day. There is a Video every half an hour which makes found very informative. Some fun games for kids as well. Those statues of butter fly and caterpillar outside are good photospots. Even for adults , one time we can go there. With all these, I still felt the entry price was bit high as that is the only attraction in it..

Perfect in the WINTER because this place is warm and tropical! A great way to kick the winter blues! Only 8$ to get in and you can just sit and relax and de-stress. It was quite and peaceful on the snowy Sunday that I went, but I bet it does get pretty busy in the summer. This place is a GEM in the winter for me to help cure the dreary winter sadsies.

The building has a small gift shop, about 12 to 15 insect and arachnid tanks, an educational room, a decent botanical garden and walking path, an event tent, restrooms and of course, the butterfly greenhouse. The greenhouse was gorgeous with tropical plants, vines and flowers, not to mention the hundreds or more butterflies fluttering around. We each ended up having one land on us since we were sweaty from the playground. There was also a chrysalis hatching observatory. Some employees brought out a millipede and stag beetle for kids to pet. The place is not big, but they pack bunches of greatness into it. This is NOT the Botanical Garden, as that is in actual St Louis area.

Gorgeous place, of course. Remember to dress for the climate (it’s HOT inside - wear layers & be prepared to drop lots at the coat rack outside the greenhouse!). Sometimes the main interpretive area for children (the classroom) is closed, so don’t pin your play date hopes on that. Best visits are when the weather is nice and you can go across the street to the Faust Park playground after. Don’t forget that it’s free for STL City/County residents on the first Tuesday every month until noon
