If you like low density, wildlife, natural beauty, and an interesting hike, this is the place for you. Wear pants for this hike. Not for sidewalk hikers.
All these changes in past 25 years ago they nvr fixed the bridge and updated it to a better fishing habitat.... sadly its like a grave yard here
Great place for hiking. When you can cross the bridge.
Trails are not well marked. Bow hunters everywhere, made the hiking a little uncomfortable, wondering if we were going to get hit with a stray arrow.
Nice view but wish they treated the grass near where you walk. I have 60+ bug bites on my legs and arms
Not much to see as things are closed and overgrown.
Another great conservation area!!!
I loved the fishing here. The fish were plenty and the water and surrounding areas were just beautiful. I really enjoyed coming here. I would definitely recommend it and come back.
After being told that we could access this island to fish for catfish we made the trip around found a gated off area and it seems that this island is mainly for a bicycle trail to go through it. We could not find any access to be able to fish in the Missouri River. If someone knows of an access area we would love to hear about it.
Natural setting to see water type pokemon in the wild
The trails are turned into mudslides after a little rain. I have only been in the winter, though, and it is very serene and peaceful out here. great to just explore
The lake here is beautiful especially when there is a tsunami
Beautiful and surprisingly remote for being so close to so much development. To access the island you must cross a spillway that is inaccessible in high water, so keep that in mind for both ends of your trek. Good for hunting, hiking and fishing.
This is beautiful. It is huge. I planned on biking it but the trails are tire tracks more than trails. Biked there and hiked 2 miles but I wore shorts and the brush started to turn prickly. Wear long pants. Lots of poison ivy and oak. I cant catch it so it didnt effect me, but it was thick.
Nice place for a morning squirrel hunt. Pretty nice place overall as well. If youre the adventurous type you should hike around for a bit.The
One of the jewels of the Missouri Conservation system, Howell Island is just that - an island in the Missouri River. The wide cut path is the only evidence left that others have been maintaining this hunters paradise. Whether you are looking for game, fish, mushrooms or just photos, you can search for it here.
Beautiful area
Deer hunting here isnt easy. I have only flung a couple arrows all season of 2017. And it pretty thick.
Gorgeous scenery. There is a land bridge to access the island when the water is low. This island is frequented by hunters and people just walking the trails.
Nice, scenic walk that offers a short or much longer hike
Great place, but be prepared for the bugs. The island itself is only accessible without a boat when the water level is low enough.
Being on the island is very eerie and it could be very dangerous since there are a lot of hunters out there that shouldnt be out there. Mindful of your surroundings
Can i use 22 riffle for hunting or only shotgun
Peacefull
A nice park. Had a great hicke
A very beautiful and quiet place for fishing!
This is a very nice place to kyak, canoe and fish.
Beautiful view of the Missouri river
People and mosquitos are thick here
Peaceful and beautiful winter hike
Great walking trails
Great place
Nice trails for hiking
