The pine needle covered trail path is so soft and feels nice to walk on. Not many people are here at all. Big fat snake spotted, so traveler be aware.
Came to explore the trails and a woman from the office came running after us to let us know that no dogs are allowed on the trails. There’s practically no one here, trails are wide, dog is on leash. Just doesn’t make any sense. Won’t be returning.
This hiking venue provided us with a little different experience than the ones we previously had since arriving in Virginia. The trails surround the former James Munroe plantation, or at least parts of it, and offer easy to difficult options. The blue trail had several historical information stations which added to the adventure. Best to print your own trail map since I got one only when I pressed staff at the information centre for it. We did return it at the end of course. Fun to do and no cost incurred.
Formerly known as Ashlawn. The entrance and exit is a DANGEROUS INTERSECTION !This should have been fixed when the 1st life was lost decades ago!
Peaceful, sunny day with invigorating climb up hillside trail and stroll through the meadow.
Saw a bear cub, but no Mama Bear, so thats a good thing.
